Suggestion: In addition to Enterprise Contest - Uniform Contest

So... We have talk about the design contest for an Enterprise-F in the next month or so. Time permitting based on the deadline, I plan to enter -- even though drafting objects in three dimensions always drives me nuts. I've done model set designs for theater and worked with tools like 3DS Max for years but I probably will follow the template of the Luna designs from the Pocket Books contest and supply 2D shots from multiple angles if that works.

Now... with a new (or future) flagship likely comes new (or future) uniforms... and I think this would be a more accessible contest.

My basic idea is this:

You have three high quality pre-renders of a generic Starfleet officer.

Front, with arms at side.

Back with arms at side.

Side view, with arms at side.

The uniform section is whited out.but the silhouette is pre-determined (which means Cryptic would only need to do a retexture of an existing model for the winner, not create a new model). The uniform is unisex (although Cryptic might create skirt options and such, if the artists are so inspired).

Also supplied on the entry sheet would be three Starfleet delta badges, which entrants would have the option of embellishing to create one or more detailed combadges from, which MIGHT require a new model. (Ie. add a circle or geometric shape around it, make it hollow, etc.

The simplicity of it is this:

You draw a uniform on the white model (in any media, 3 color variations - 1 for each playable class) and supply 1-3 combadge designs inside the badge boxes. You get a set of boxes to indicate rank display variations for Ensign through Captain, with the rule being that rank displays must come in the form of ONE of the following: sleeve stripes, collar pips, or pips displayed over the right breast.

The winning design is the Enterprise-F uniform, based on a mix of creativity and aesthetic preferences.

Similar to how the F is suggested as an intermediary design towards the Enterprise-J, entrants will be supplied screen captures of the "All Good Things" and "29th Century" uniforms to use as reference for "future" uniforms.

If this goes well, a similar contest could be held for a new Klingon uniform texture. Unlike the new Starfleet Uniform (which would have one winner, pretty much by necessity), the Klingon version of the contest might feature multiple winners (since Klingons can theoretically be less uniform, embodying warriors more than soldiers).

The basic idea is, again, you get the shape. Go crazy on the details, in any media.
