Featured Series 3?

The Featured Episodes are probably the best thing to happen to STO since launch - they entirely revitalized my interest in the game, and I've played through all of them with all five characters I have. They've been excellent. :)

I was wondering... is there a third series coming out? When? And, on the off chance that Cryptic's people are willing to tell us... who?

In the last Engineering Report, dstahl said that the next series will most likely be out in January.

The last episode in the Devidian Series is Nov 13th. Season 3 Release will ship on Dec 2nd and the next set of Featured Episodes will most likely be in January. In between the Devidian Series and Series 3, we are planning some other events that will be taking place on Saturdays in between the series. You'll have to stay tuned as I'm not giving out details yet .

Be nice to see some action from them. Maybe get some Tholian bridge crew? Or a Tholian web generator? (Which would probably be a device or something...)

Totally agreed, the weeklies are the best thing to happen to STO. A Tholian series will be awesome. I really love the idea of focusing on one species per series, really gives them their own unique feel.

As much as I cannot wait for the next series, I hope they take their time to make it as awesome as possible.

As for the who? I'm guessing it will be the True Way. One of the 3 new Dailies added to the neutral zone has you protecting the Ferengi Dueterium fueling station in the Alheana system. If you collect 10 computer core fragments (will take you 3 or more days to acquire) you will receive a new accolade called "True intentions" and this unlocks a 4th special "repeatable" Daily. Not to post any spoilers here but it is hinted at the end of that mission that there may be another True Way base in a nearby Sector of space....... hmmm sounds like the groundwork for another FE series to me. ;)

And don't forget.... We still don't know why the True Way are in the neutral zone in the first place? They must be here for a reason and I'm sure it's not for sight seeing. :)

This is actually covered in the unlockable mission in Eta Eridani.

    *Spoiler*

They're taking the battered hulks of destroyed Fed and Klink ships who fought each other to be used in their war to 'liberate' the Cardassian people back over in their own space.

Can't be december, it wouldn't be finished by Christmas then. I expect the Dev's won't be working over the holidays. I heard the eps were coming back in January. And that was from a Dev.

We may see some existing missions made cross faction and given a new reward on Saturdays after S3 launches and before Series 3.

So that doesn't mean no Saturday special events. But any we get will be one offs for awhile.

It would be interesting if, between featured series, we got some one-off episodes that basically play like Star Trek's many "bottle shows", i.e. episodes that took place entirely on the ship. This would both mirror the source matieral and give us a reason to put our ship interiors to good use.

The concept could also be expanded to make use of existing locations that see relatively little use, such as the Vulcan, Andoria, or Risa social maps. Risa episodes practically write themselves, afterall. :D

...just make sure they're better than DS9's "Let He Who Is Without Sin..." and I'll be happy.

I really like this idea. I haven't really went with any different interior on my Cruiser because I really don't see the inside of it.
