Its kind a been gnawing at me for some time now, so i could not help but bring this up.

Lets go back 9 months.

If you're looking for a challenge, look no further than our upcoming Raid Episodes, which combine bold storytelling with our toughest five-man missions yet. These are just a few of the Raid Episodes we'll be rolling out over the coming weeks, beginning a week after launch. Raid Episodes are available to both Federation and Klingon players.
  • Infected - Investigate a federation station that Starfleet has lost contact with.
  • The Cure - A planet has been completely taken over by the Borg. Fight them for control of the planet.
  • Khitomer Accord - Travel back in time and uncover and participate in the events that led to the release of old Borg you encountered in the Tutorial Episode.
  • Into the Hive - Track down a missing Starfleet captain and come face to face with the new Borg Queen.

And...
We've got even more great additions planned for Star Trek Online. Here's just a bit of what's coming:
  • Klingon Fleet Actions - Form up with your closest friends and do battle in large engagements.
  • A New Klingon Ship - You asked for it, we made it: A Tier 2 Klingon Battle Cruiser.
  • Klingon Star Clusters - Seek out new life and civilizations ... and subjugate them! Additional PvE content for the Klingon faction.
  • Federation vs. Federation PvP - Practice against your allies before engaging your enemies.
  • New Ground Maps - We'll be adding a new Ground Assault PvP map, as well as a new ground Fleet Action.
  • More IP Locations - Check out Rura Penthe and our whole solar system, from Mercury to Pluto.

So what happened Cryptic? Where are some of these things that were supposed to go in the game go?
Don't get me wrong, i love the direction STO has taken and the improvements that keeping coming with every major update, but i would like to see the things promised back at pre-launch show up sometime(soon). :(

But its particularly those in Red i wish to know what happened to.

Sure the STF's can be tedious, but also very enjoyable if you know what your doing.
So we got Infected, Cure, Kithomer Accords and Terradome.... but when is "Into the Hive" going to show up? Ever?
And as for the second point, Rura Penthe is still not accessible(other than the system) and our Solar system still conssists of only "one" planet.... what happened to all that? :(

Like i said, a lot of improvements have been made, but it feels like some old threads have just been left hanging.

As for the Hive, that's Gozer's baby, along with all of the Borg STFs. If you missed it, Gozer has been gone for a number of months. Now that he's back, he has said he has plans on revisiting the STFs soon. He wanted to push out some more content for the Klingons first, though, which is completely understandable IMO.

As for our Sol system including Mercury - Neptune, They've said time and time again that the maps are complete. They just don't want to push it out to us with nothing to do on these maps. Stahl has also said he's not happy with the way it works currently - which is warping out and going to a load screen to arrive at another planet in the system. When theyre able to build a grander vision of Sol system, with plenty of activities to partake in throughout, then we'll see it in game.

And Rura Penthe, I really don't know. Would be cool to see it though, as something more than an empty system in sector space. :D

Well with all respect to the Klingons, i think Gozer should focus on getting Into the Hive finished and pushed out.
Since its something that has been delayed for a very very long time and the final Installment in the STF's story arc as i understand it.

Schedules change and stuff happens. DStahl has said (for example) that they have the Earth Solar System maps done, but don't want to roll them out until:

    1) There's actual stuff to do there (more than just walk around.)

    2) The enginine is upgraded sop that you DON'T have to zone to each planet map from a previous map (ie the entire Sol planet system is available on on contiguous map. (and it's tech they are working on - and with the improvements to sector space in the season 3 beta patch on Tribble, I do believe them.)

As for the STF situation, they weren't as well received as the staff had hoped; and aremn't played by a lot of users so, given the state of the game and wanting to maximize Dev resources and create content that a largere majiority of players can access; STFs were bckburnered. Gozer has stated he has been given time after the KDF stuff is done to do a bug and balance pass on the cirrent STFs to get them all working as intended; and I believe they have stated the Hive will be finished too; but STFs aren't their top priority.

The interesting thing is - all the other points in those posts you quoted have been added to the game already (which is good.) Honestly, for 9 months out of the gate; I think the team has done more to really improve teh game overall in a very short period - but again, with the level of communication about 'stuff in the works' - everything is subject to change.

Things change, and priorities shift. All of that stuff seems boring to what's coming up in season 3 and even C-store alone. Nothing is ever set in stone so you've just got to take everything with a pinch of salt. STF's are boring anyway. They are just killfests imho. :)

Considering the fact that a lot of people criticize the game for lack of "endgame" content i think STF's should be high on the priority list, as its the only thing that comes remotely close to being Endgame content.

STF's are also playable by Klingons. So what's yours?

I agree, and it's a good thing that Season 4 is supposedly going to hold a focus on endgame, including STFs. Or atleast, that's what we've heard so far. :)

In the overall scheme of things... At This Point... the STF's aren't really a top priority item.

They weren't really as well received as the Dev's had hoped and with the Goez-mans departure for a few months they got moved to a back burner.

Don't get yer knickers in a snit just yet though... It's already been said that the STF's will be revisited as soon as possible. ;)

Alot of this stuff is still planned to happen at some point down the line.

Development Priorities tend to change based on the needs of the community, as well as the company as a whole.

I know Into the Hive is still something we want to get to, as are more social areas, and more planets like Rura Penthe.

It's just going to take time to get everything in.

    Thanks,

    Stormshade

Wow. 4 day necro post :). Not much of one to be honest, just surprising to see who pulled it back out :).

Point of clarity, not suggesting anything wrong with a 4 day necro post, was just surprised :).

4 days isn't really necro. Maybe "staring into the light", but not quite necro. ;)
