Night of the Comet: That was awesome!

I must say that was an extremely well done finale to an already amazing series. Well done to all. I absolutely loved the flying test at the beginning, it really caught the mood from Star Trek 4. The circles were perfectly sized to require precision flying, but still reasonable to hit. How do you all like it?

I concur! I simply had a blast with this mission! The beginning took me back to the movie as well!

I enjoy that sense of "urgency" at the end. These mission arcs continue to get better!

A perfect ending to this great episode!

Great job to all involved, and I look forward to the next episode! I can't wait to see what you have in store for us!

Are you kidding me? That was just really stupid. You go back in time, a Vice Admiral, commading one of the most advanced ships in Starfleet and you get shot up by at least 250 year old Klingon ships? Even if you aren't levelcapped it's really dumb. Yes, there are lots of them but they're eating trough your shields like modern ships. I get that they want that sense of urgency and I get why the Episode needs to be at least something of a challenge but come on, that's like driving a Tank right into the American Revolution. They shouldn't even be able to scratch your paintjob. There would have been other ways to achieve that. Just have some Devidians try to keep you from destroying the comet, that I'll buy in a second, but a fleet of Klingons that just happens to be there and attacks you just because the plot says so and are able to do serious damage? No dice.

I concur. I enjoyed this mission thoroughly.

I hear some have been having problems with it, but I had none. Great finale, and great rewards. Another excellent episode, Cryptic. :)

i enjoyed the mission but the last part was stupid hard. maybe there's a tactic to get it done more easily, but those old school ships where tearing me apart. nero destroyed 47 of them with a mining ship and im being crushed by three of them?

the opening ring bit was awesome. i loved that immensely.

the ground combat was ok but slightly too long, but not bad. fun to see the station in the past.

scotty was a real surprise. loved it.

the drink thing was somewhat odd considering the impending doom but a decent enough puzzle.

last bit was tough, tone down the damage those D7 are putting out and it would be fun.

overall a decent misison, and a good end to the story. a better series than the breen and that was excellent so good job. look forward to series 3.

Ya it was a pretty great final episode. I liked it. Nice to see Scotty too. Don't care much for the rewards tho, but its better than another boff i guess.

I really liked slingshoting around the star too. Something new that i hadn't done before. :)

I really enjoyed the latest mission.

I got a big kick out of using the sling shot effect to travel back in time. FUN! :)

The ground combat was fun and challenging too, hats off to the final dividian boss.

The finding out what drink the shop vendor needed was silly, but I enjoyed it none the less.

Scotty didn't need to be in the mission so my feelings on that were, meh but the dialog was pretty spot on for him.

Overall I would give it a 8/10, really fun outside some of the silliness.

Disagree. I was really disappointed with the end mission. The final phase is practically impossible to finish without having to resort to zerging the comet shards.

Loved it. Nice Bar brawl. Terrible at mixing drinks though. :p

    Selectable reward, good move. ;)

The final part was not that hard, it just took a long time. I'm engineer btw, not tact. WHat would be the point if it wasn't challenging?

I sometimes wonder if they even take Science Vessels into consideration when doing a timed "destroy a bunch of things before reinforcements show up" challenge.

Did it in my Intrepid Retro, no problems here. Are you getting into their aggro radius too fast?

forget what i said. i tried it again and its actually very easy.

target the first d7 and get it out of the way

    then target the comet

then quickly back to the next two d7's when they warp in

    then back to the comet

then the next two d7 and just keep going until your done

ignore the main ship and its dead easy, did not die once the second time round. so ive changed my mind as a good tactic will work on this misison.

Well I disabled the main klingon ship on the other side of the station, so that he had a looong way for his ramming intention^^

But yes the D7 do way to much damage, and take way to little.

That was a full bottle of awesome sauce. The scripting again is top notch along with the artwork.

Blow up the comet, hey no problem...what.. its still there..ok no problem...what there's now shards..hey you do know I have a truck load of angry Klingons giving me a kicking at the same time.... aye aye aye!!

    Loved it!

Way back in Jan, buying a years sub was a bit of gamble, after the Breen's and now the Devidians dam I am so glad I did it :D

Looking forward to the next set of episodes!

I can't finish the last part at all. I like the story driven quests of this game but space combat just isnt my forte especially in this mission.

I ran the mission only once, so far, and that was with my engineer RA LW 1 in a retro Excelsior set on advanced. I agree that the begining is cool in as much as it takes you back to the fourth movie, but what a pain in the butt! After about 15 tries, I finally got it. The rest of the mission I thought was absolutly awesome, however. The fight at the end I thought was well put together. I took out B'vat and the other D7 first, broke the comet into fragments, took out the next two D7's, took out a fragment and a shard or two, took out the next two....rinse repeat until all fragments, shards, and D7's were done. By the time that happened, I was so far away from B'vat, he couldn't get to me before I warped out. I never blew up in space, though I got taken down to 16% at one point. I think I got my toon killed three times fighting the devidians, but my BOFF's revived me each time. Boy that "nerve tonic" sounded rather vile, huh? lol

All in all, good mission. I can't wait for the next set of weekly's :D

I liked what the devs did in this lastest series. I've never been impressed with the episodes with the Devidians on TNG, but Cryptic actually made them scary-cool. Nicely done.

My only gripe (with this last one) is that Feds get sent back as a D7 like the Klinks, rather than a Connie. I think the Connie aspect vs B'Vat could still have worked with B'Vat basically sayin' "because of my having to deal with constant Federation incursions near the Empire, I was prevented from standing at my brother's side in battle and he's been killed by a rival House. You will be the 1st to fall in my quest to avenge his death." - bah blah blah. But yeah, it's a minor gripe. Overall, it was a good 5 week run.

I am going to have to agree with this.

They (Cryptic) have kept the TOS Connie, Connie Refit and soon, the NX-01 to Tier 1 and 2, because they are small and old. So, why are we fighting the exact same ships, yet they seem able to hand our aft to us?

That just makes no sense. You shouldn't have it both ways. If the ships of that era are so much less powerful than modern ships, then stick with it, and the missions should reflect that as well.

Otherwise, there is no reason why we shouldn't have T5 Connies and D-7s and NX-01s.

loved it too, only done it one and that was on my KDF toon, thought the mixing the drinks game was a tad out of character for my tough as nails gruf Klingon "oh and yes a nice drop of honey and make is so it feels like a gental hug" etc but over all i really liked it.

Would have prefered to have warped in at the beginning a little father away from the star and that more of a game would have been made of the slingshot.

Oh and without sounding like im blowing my own trumpet here but i did this on Elite (solo), I died a few times but generally found that a good use of tactics won the day. Very do-able on Elite, nice challenge!

I thought it was a good mission, and a great story arc. On the final battle, I liked the fact that you had to be careful not to influence the timeline but I didn't like getting blown up a few times trying to complete it. I decided that I was just going to concentrate on the meteor fragments once the reinforcements showed up. After getting defeated a couple of times I figured I might as well stick with the original plan. When I run this with alts I may try different tactics.

You are very easy to please. I for one was disappointed that I had to mix a drink for some cow just to get an item that I should have been able to pick up off the table myself. And, the issue with trying to slingshot with the common lag issues I have has caused me to give up on this Episode with the rest of my characters. The reward is NOT worth the frustration, believe me.

I think the Episode was better than last weeks episode, however the ending was more of a let down.

Really I still feel as if our ships should have been Godzilla in Tokyo. (after all we you know. Killed all of the "upgraded" ships Bvat had.)

It would have been a nice nod in story, to just how far ST tech has come.

As it stands though it's a little silly to have to die 3 times in an Escort to blow up a comet before heinously outdated ships kill you. Though my Main's Escort got it done with 0 deaths.... because he's not a Target Subsystem build....

Loved all of the mission except the comet battle. I can understand having a challenge and yes it was fun although the difficulty of the D-7's made no sense.

AND FINALLY! TOS PHASER and PHASER RIFLE! Awesome! Can't wait to try these babies out. :)

Need some help to figure one thing out,

During the last part, do D7's come in time intervals or do they appear when you break the comet and again for each large fragment save the last one which causes the 'ram' maneuver.

they come when you destroy the comet parts, they are not on a timer
