For those who don't know what he's talking about:

To clarify what the visual changes are (and you have more options this time around too):
Since, it's heading to Tribble now, I can spill the beans on the artwork for Sector Space (as it's also in the Tribble notes):
    • You have two modes of viewing sector space:
      • Astrometrics enabled: you have very faint, tiny gridlines and rotating star-system models on thin lollipops - it's not nearly as colorful as before. Think of Pelia and Orellius Sector Space (but prettier - see below)

      • Astrometrics Disabled: No grids, no lollipops, and no orbital lines. Stars appear as flickering objects that can grow in size to spheres on approach.

    • On top of these modes, you also have:
      • "Flavor text" and "System Briefings" that appear as tooltips when mousing over a system or when adjacent to one.

      • Starlines: Yes - warp speed finally has starlines too! These are the classic white lines - not the rainbow lines from Enterprise.

Yes, the sector space update looks truly awesome. Space feels much bigger, and much more immersive now.

I completely agree with the OP and one thing I must say which was one of the first thing I noticed when in sector space was OMG! :D

...and then OMG some more and I actually feel like I am at warp speed, thanks to star-lines or star-streaks.

Commodore_Bob probably went to bed but he requested more footage - especially of the exploration clusters and the Badlands:
Did someone ask for another movie?
(=| Sector Revamp, Pt. 2 "Once More, With Feeling" |=)

    Featuring:
    • Visual redesigns of exploration clusters
    • New sector space "look" for Deep Space Nine (less glow; more show)
    • Stunning New Badlands Sequence
    • Subtle Mutara Nebula Changes
    • Darker, Alien Gamma Orionis

new footage, new music, new sector space

Guys really need to check this out rather watch video's,not to diss the vids or anything but to actually explore space... it aint trek if you dont explore lol.

I honestly, I cant go back to holodeck. I keep exploring space...same space ive been in since shoot pre launch and i feel like a noob with a huge ship lol. I even get lost which is hilarous and i actually have to see where iam on the map. Its really something gang.

I know some of you seen my posts.. and most of my post..in a nut shell bash a little at cryptic, more constructive critism then anything else. But this has really made my jaw drop. They really went over the top on this and I couldnt be more happier. Theres a few bugs that need to be cleaned out but overall... just wow.

places id defenetly go see if you havent yet is

    ds9
    btran
mutara neb (just fly into it)
    badlands
    briar patch

    and turn astrometrics off.

I was expecting alittle more with the romulan space.. was kinda disapointed on that end but overall wow factor is enormous hehe. I tell yah again dont watch vids go check it out.

There wasnt THAT many changes to the game. Just from the patch notes. It was mostly cosmetic and vendors selling different stuff.

I'll bravo cryptic when they put UGC on tribble.

SS as well as the rest of S3 is two steps forward to what most players, if not nearly all of us wanted at release. Now if the UGCS is successful it will be a big leap forward. The USS Cryptic is doing well under CPT DStahl!

S3 was not supposed to be about a crapload of new stuff thought.
Its mainly about "major" bugfixing and polishing up the game.

And i doubt this was the "whole" update that went up, i imagine theres a lot more to come(mainly more bugfixes probally)

When they said polish, I was thinking maybe some bug fixes and a few graphical fixes (ship textures, etc). I was NOT expecting this at all.

It is definitely nice and makes sector space feel more expansive. The larger sector blocks like Sirius feel much better.

The problem I had with it was in the smaller sector blocks like B'Tran. Without the astrometrics active, I was constantly hitting the sector "walls". Luckily we can turn the astrometrics on and off as we need it.
