I never noticed this before ... but today I was doing a cluster mission and pulled a "defeat enemy squads" type ground mission against Remans.
Now I know they like to wear capes and all but I don't recall Remans having super-powers.
They are shooting purple death rays from thier eyes, and using what looks to be a devidian attack that shoots multiple arcing purple energy globs at you.
Have Remans always been super-villains, or did something get mixed up in the patch?
They've always been that way, even in the mission where you're keeping their asteroid mine in Hobus from going BOOM. They're powers are "Psionic" so they're shooting mind-bolts are you - its based off of their depiction in Nemesis of being strong psychically, and being able to "atttack" Troi.
Seems kind of ... well frankly... lame.
I mean sure, there was one Reman in Nemisis that was telepathic.
He was by no means the rule, however that said I don't have a problem with Remans having telepathic abilities. It's the whole 'shooting beams out of thier eyes' representation of it that is just .... well not ver 'Star Trek'.
Do we really need a graphical representation of these abilities?
They can't just make a gesture and have the effect take place?
pssst, the enemy for the new series are a race of killer bunnies that shoot lasers from their eyes and bolts of lightning out of their bum (dont tell anybody!!!) :P

The game would be much harder if you had to guess whether they were using a psychic power on you or not.

Oh I dunno....
This Reman looks like he's pushing to hard on the jon and suddenly I realise I'm shooting at my first officer.....
I could probably make the connection.
But purple beams shooting out of thier eyes?
I'm just going WTF why no beams fo mees!!!!!
Where my beams man?
Seriously though ... it's not like I have a "defend against death ray eyes Reman mental powers" skill.
And even if I did, it would hesitate to go off untill to late or simply toggle into cooldown anyway.

Somehow they captured Xmen and use his genes to augument themselfs?
I don't remember shoting rays thru eyes ... but it sounds wery bad in ST universe
Really? I think the shows and movies would have done it if they'd had the budget for it.
TMP and Abrams' Trek are the only Trek movies with a major motion picture budget. The others seem to be around a third the budget of a major sci-fi movie for the time, an issue compounded when you consider that the actors made more than a lot of the actors in a major sci-fi flick and a drastically higher percentage of the budget. I mean, I think Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner were a third of the budget for the TNG films, all told, which doesn't leave a lot for SFX.
Trek movies were VERY reliant on stylish directors and having the TV shows as a point of comparison, when the SFX budgets themselves were closer to a TV miniseries than a sci-fi blockbuster.

The thing with Star Trek is, and always has been, that everything in it is based on reality. All the technology, all the races, they're all (with some exceptions) believable to an extent, or can be explained in any of the many excellent Star Trek Technical Manuals (google them, they're great).
Now at what point in that species evolution did it garner the ability to shoot laser beams from it's eyes?
In Star Trek, if you can't get a serious answer to the question "How does that work?", then that thing belongs somewhere else. Farscape perhaps..

Either that or the Champions Online devs have been TRIBBLE around with these critters.
I guess I just never noticed it before.

You know that the 200 day vet reward for Klingons is a cape, right?
Please say it ain't so? They keep denying it and things keep popping up that make them look like they're telling pork pies...
