Since Cryptic has decided to give the Klinks their BOP that can fire torps while cloaked, cryptic should balance this out with a Fed Torpedo that can lock on and find a cloaked BOP as shown in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

This is absolutely canon and can not be denied.
You know what else is canon?
The Klingons having superior firepower. Afterall, they don't muddle up their ships with unneccessary frills and scientific mumbo jumbo. they fly battleships, designed for war.
So, Klingons having a BOP that can fire under cloak, doesn't bother me. It's keeping in canon for the Klingon Empire.
Also, why in the heck does everyone feel that everyone has to have exactly the same thing? Where is the fun in that? We aren't Borg drones afterall. Variety is the spice of life.

Please point out where I am asking for the same thing in this thread. I am asking for a canon based counter. Nothing more.
And you know...the time line is further in the future in a time of great war, you honestly do not believe the federation would not up the ante to counter the klink war machine?

Not needed as the B'rel (chang BoP retrofit) is exposed & shieldless everytime it fires a torpedo or mine for 3 seconds , everytime it heals itself, heals another vessel or is healed by another vessel the same exposed shieldless for 3 seconds happens. SO it seems the fed fears of it being OP have been shown to be an overstatement.

I am not saying it is OP. I am saying since they implemented a canon aspect to the BOP the Canon counter is the Torp that can hit a cloaked vessel. A free fire torp just like in Undiscovered Country. All cloak ships would be at risk.
You can have the torpedo as it was in TUC. But it won't home in on anything anymore, as Rick Sternbach has said, the impulse drive systems on starships has changed to more of a sub-light warp drive from the 24th century onward. No external exhaust gases to lock onto you see.

So 30 plus years of research and development would not get around this? Hmmm... Yeah right.
the torp is the perfect counter, and i'm a defiant refit cap.
the torp was made in TOS era, it should have evolved with drive and cloaking tech.
the problem is that i think klingons get off on the fact that they can build pretty much anything the feds can, but have all these nifty special stuff for themselves.
time for the feds to get some unique tech. afterall, klingons may be more warlike, but we all know feds are a better tech/research/science faction, time for them to show it.
Cavemen are probably more warlike, but an average citizen now can pick up a gun from walmart, because this era human is better at tech

So saucer separation for the Galaxy, ablative armor generators for the Intrepid and the tachyon detection grid for the Nebula isn't unique tech to the Federation?
Fine have your torpedo but I want the following on my ship:
Fifty two pulse disruptor cannons; twenty seven photon torpedo launchers; One Thalaron radiation generator. Along with primary and secondary shields; advanced cloaking device, that can allow me to have my shields operational and fire all weapons while cloaked.

you forgot the "iwin lulz" button.
you are just showing how bent out of shape people get at the thought of a sensible tech based counter.

well done?
No I'm just highlighting how ludicrous these requests will get if a line isn't drawn underneath them. The OP wanting something just because it's canon isn't a good enough excuse.
The Klingons got these ship based abilities in direct relation the the Federation getting the tech I mentioned previously, that's your countermeasure right there.
Tbh, They had something to lock on to, You see, other than Tetryon emissions (Can't remember but whatever)
There isn't anything to lock on too. If you wish to include after X Years of whatever research then how can anything be Canon. (It isn't its just speculation)
Imo The Klingon BoP refit/w/e special ability. Is pretty much Perfect for the Klingon empire.
Sidenote; Im not taking any sides in this Because I could careless but I might end up using a BoP in the future.
Also another note; I think tetryon emissions were romulan rather than klingon.
And another note; Cloaked D7-class battle cruisers could be detected using a metaphasic sweep. (Which is essentially Sensor Scan.)
And 30 plus years of new cloaking research and development would not get around this? Hmmm... Yeah right.
See? Two can play this game.
Yes they can and that is what war is all about. Do you honestly think our current stealth aircraft are 100 percent not seen by the enemy? Again...war is about development and counters to new things. Only an idiot government would sit by and passively watch his enemy surpass his country in tech.
So go ahead. Play that game with me because I am well prepared.

the grid is limited and the torp is canon so it belongs in the game. It would ENHANCE the immersion quality of the game. Besides...I want to be able to fire a torp that can track a cloaked ship. It is after all Canon.
So no...game not over. Nice try though.
(For those who are clueless I am being sarcastic about the immersion) Just saying.
I am not saying it is OP. I am saying since they implemented a canon aspect to the BOP the Canon counter is the Torp that can hit a cloaked vessel. A free fire torp just like in Undiscovered Country. All cloak ships would be at risk.
Not argueing that such a torpedo would be and is canon. I was trying to quell the rising belief that a cloaked BoP able to fire while remaining cloaked is not nearly the OP ship that some would think and for the record, using certain abilities in it can expose you shieldess from cloak for up to 15 seconds. Most KDF are finding it to be a deathtrap more than anything else.

The largest radar image given off by any of our (US) stealth planes is the size of a sparrow.
What you should consider is any technolgy that the military has released into public knowledge is old by thier own standards and newer, better technology is being tweaked even as the "new" to us the public is unvieled. Most of our stealth planes are old by the Airforce timeline.

Actually it doesnt fire while cloaked it uncloaks for 3 seconds and fires and while its uncloaked for those 3
seconds it has no shields so really how OP is that cause if your quick enough you can pop it eailsly.

I agree with you it is not OP. But I am a proponent that if it is canon it should be implemented.
Oh and as a side note...some one said Rick Berman said something about exhaust...Don't listen to Berman...that MORON nearly wrecked Star Trek.

I said Rick Sternbach, the technical consultant and one of the main ship designers on the Star Trek series. You say the Tachyon Detection Grid is limited, well so is the version of the cloak that the BoP got, so it does balance out. I'm sorry you can't except it, but you are just going to have to make do, aren't you.
Now that I think about it lets have but it must have a 10km range if no ships cloaked within that range
the torp flies into space and it should also target friendly ships in that range so if no enemys in range
and a teammate is thats cloaked he gets hit.
And I think both factions should have access to it because feds have cloaked ships too and you cant
tell me the klingons would no come up with a torp that could do the same.

Russia has been working on tech that can see stealth craft through radar Triangulation. The point is war is a game of upping the ante. The newer tech we are developing is designed to counter newer detection techniques. It is simply the progression of technology.
The idea that many have here is that the federation is not war like and therefore would not develop weapons of war or other tech while the klings excel in war is a false notion. A nation at war will compete even if it is a nation of peace.
Unless of course the federation president is Mahatma Gandhi.

I agree. Both sides should have access to the tracking Torpedo. ...I fly a Defiant R btw. But...I have to tell you, Klingons by themselves are pretty stupid...it would have be one of the other races who develop it for them.

Nope. I am sighting a very canon part of trek. And just because Rick said something it is not canon.

I can see why your all like "Oh its not OP its just not balanced" but as someone else said,
Most klingons find that ship a "death trap". And that isn't a lie.
imo The tracking torpedo would effectivly make the Feds overpowered so unless it was a weak torpedo/mine then ....
I'll let you think what I mean by that. (Anyway I thought Klingons were prised because of the cloaking ability but whatever.)
Dont flame me for saying Feds are overpowered, I didn't really say such a thing. I may have implied this but still.
And on a note, Why wouldn't you have a nebula or at least a science officer in pvp?

Nope not good enough. Since it is canon I want a Torp that can home in on a cloaked klink.

Who died and made you a dev?
LOL
Ill give you that one....
Or theft from the feds. Which happens all time in times of war. Russia ripped a ton of ideas off the US. Ever seen the Boran Shuttle?
