Although I really enjoy this game, I absolutely HATE it when I am defending a stranded ship or besieged space station and right after I destroy an enemy ship a pop-up comes on my screen to tell me to defend the ship or station. Because when said pop up happens, my ship's throttle drops to zero and my ship pauses in front of a ship getting ready to explode.
This is particularly annoying when flying an Escort as the resultant blast from the exploding ship tends to either drop my hull to 12% or I just blow up and have to re-spawn.
This is kind of stupid. A warship doesn't cut its engines whenever a priority message comes in.
I seem to recall seeing a similar post before where one of the respondents suggested turning this feature off. Where? I looked in social settings and game settings and I cannot figure out what setting stops this behavior.
I don't mind the pop up. I just don't want my ship to come to a halt every time I get a message. So, is there a way to change this behavior?
You can turn off the stop on pop-ups in the options section under controls. There's an option to turn it off in ground and space. It's called "Keep moving during combat dialog" or something similar to that.

Thanks in advance.
I think this is an example of when the floating text box introduced in What Lies Beneath would be more appropriate. Especially if the box is information only and requires you only to click continue to close it.
Cosmic is correct, there is a way to turn off the "All Stop" in this case.
Although I would much rather see the missions retrofit with the new, smaller, "alert" boxes that the Devidian series and the new dailies use, to let you know another ship is incoming.
Heck, I'd like to see alot of the missions and content in-game, retrofit with some of the new features. The new approach to combat in the new dailies is a welcome sight. I love the combat where instead of entering a system and attacking ships at a static point, you have an objective to defend, and the ships come in randomly (and sometimes before your current target is dead) and attack you that way.
It feels much more "Starfleet" in that you aren't going on the offensive, but rather defending yourself and your target. I really like that!
Be careful though. I turned it off once and I ended up on the other side of the sector when I was trying to decide which mission to take on. Usually the pop-ups are predictable and they will not go up while under Red Alert. There are a few things you can do that will keep you at Red Alert. If you have Eject Warp Plasma, for example, and you want to be sure you get away from the exploding ship, just hit it and Evasive Maneuvers. That will keep you at Red alert long enough for your evasive maneuvers to get you away.
Another thing you can do is to spam the "E" key the moment it pops up. That will turn your engines back on.

I like using Tractor Beam Repulsors. Reverse tractor beams push away anything from around your ship including wrecks about to warp core breach.

Hit "Esc", Rearrange HUD
The dialogue box is not the problem I care about... It is the resultant All Stop.
Thanks for the responses.
