i wanted to get out some of my ideas in how awesome star trek online could be if the developers put a little bit more time into the ships.
i know the weapons are layed out is good but i think that the weapon slots should be doubled on all ships, but, have more weapons of lower yeild, or have ships with higher hull strength.
why do i think the slots on all ships should be doubled? well because in the new star trek movie they came outta warp guns blazing with turrets linning the hull of the entire frigging ship, and it was AWESOME i think it would feel alot better and more satisfying if you as a player can do the same thing no matter what rank.
there is something else wanted to discuss but isnt as important as the weapons, i kinda think it would be nice if tthat when in warp you would be able to only see the trails from the warp nacells and the warp nacells only. and when your not in warp that you would see no trails whatsoever because in my opinion they look TRIBBLE and i think the ships should have more of an EVE online look to them while out of warp. but im not soo concerned about how warp looks and stuff as to how much i really think the weapons need to be doubled on every ship.

I think the ships are pretty loaded down already; I mean, the flippin' crusiers have eight weapons slots (4 fore, 4 aft) at T5 and whether you want to load them down with beams, turrets, torpedoes, or a mixture of all of the above is up to the player.

That's would be equivilent to loading a T5 cruiser with turrets and investing in Rapid Fire and/or Scatter Fire as one of your Tactical powers. I've heard about some players who do build in that direction, and the results are preportedly devestating.

Slot your ships with turrets and take the tactical skill Cannon Rapid Fire. You'll look just like the JJprise in combat.
currently if you wanted your ship to come out guns blazing then you have to pick the escort which will allow you to come out guns blazing. we dont have any system in sto that will support your notion of come out of warp guns blazing. I watch the star trek movie serval times. The guns blazing part was to protect spocks ship from fast pased high tech torpedo clusters. Also its call point defense system. some captains recieved that as a gift for their purchase through another store/ company.
The ship had beam weapons otherwise to fire at the enemy ship. Right now weapon slots are good. for cruisers. I reallly dont see how we need more hull in the game. perhaps it would be an idea to mix up the ratio of damage done to your ship. soemtimes sheilds go down as if you are fighting the borg yet npc sheilds are drained correctly. Oh well its a notion but weapon slots wont make you better at using your ship per say.
