Hey everyone - yes, I know - there are a few actors in line to be in STO before Michelle Forbes, but I have to say that, while currently watching TNG in its entirety, I can say that Michelle Forbes is one of the best actors on the show. The character of Ensign Ro is left open after she joins the Maquis, and I think it would be a real treat to run into her as perhaps a contact for a few missions or something else in STO. I also know she has done other voiceover work for other video games, such as DC Universe Online and the Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, so I'm sure she would feel right at home. What do you all think?
And yes, as a young boy watching TNG for the first time, Michelle Forbes was my first crush - can you blame me??
I'd like that, but don't you think she got killed by the Jem'hadar?
If you consider the Star Trek books, she survived the Dominion War. Personally i did not read it yet, but since these books now get finaly published here in Germany, i will in the future. Its nice to have an eight season of DS9 in book form. I know its not actually canon, but thats a matter of personel opinion i think. And if i remember corret, Cryptic used some bits from the books in STO as well. So it comes all together somehow.
In fact, I'll campaign for her myself... I loved her TNG (LOVED HER) Loved in Galactica (mmmm... Admiral) and adored her in True Blood (I wanna do bad things to Mary Ann) so I say lets draft her in. STO needs a good solid and convincing female villain
Nice idea, but I don't think its gonna work.
I've got nothing against Forbes, she's a great actress but I'd rather have someone who is actually into this kind of stuff.
Forbes really isn't into SciFi at all and has repeatetdly stated that she's pretty much done with Trek.
So, getting her to do some voicework is probably gonna cost considerably more than getting, lets say, Tim Russ.
Hint for the Michelle Forbes fans (semi off-topic): she plays Admiral Kane in a short story arc of Battlestar Galactica. I think it is in Season 2, maybe season 3.
Hey thanks for all the responses, everyone! I have read that Michelle Forbes did turn down the chance to return to the character of Ro Laren twice, but it was for the reason that she wanted to explore starring in movies. And as I stated before, she has voiceover experience! I don't think she dislikes Trek, and I think it would have a great impact if, if only for a few interactions, she would voice Ro again. She has many, many fans and she's a fantastic actor. I really hope the devs at least consider it.
when i first saw her she did nothing for me, but im developing a new appreciation for her. see seams to get sexier every time i see her. so yes ill sign this.

She's also in the first season of HBO's True Blood. If you can't stand it.
And as much as I liked the character, she turned down the role of Kira on DS9, so I doubt she'd be up for VO work. Here's to hoping I'm wrong, she has a cool voice.
I don't think Forbes would be interested in doing voice work for STO, at least not without a hefty paycheck. Personally, I didn't find Ro that interesting in the first place. She was only in a gandful of episodes, anyway.
I've heard that she was to play the Bajoran XO on DS9 but didn't want to commit to a TV series so the role was given to Nana Visitor and the character of Kira created. You'd probably have a better chance of Visitor doing voicework, honestly. (Though I think its kinda silly to have her as the Kai in game....she was a career military officer, not a priest. It would have made more sense to have her referred to as the leader of the civilian government or Commander of the Bajoran Defense force or something)
I wonder if they considered Michael Dorn (Worf) doing voicework on the klingon side?

Could be cool, but I have a better idea.
Willing and available (in any case more than Dorn): Tony Todd and J.G. Hertzler
Edit:
I doubt there is a single klingon fan here who doesn't reckognise these names but for the rest: Tony Todd = Kurn(worf's Brother) & Jake Sisko, J.G. Hertzler = Martok and klingon advocate in enterprise
Hertzler also starred in Of Gods And Man and Todd stars this year in Tim Russ' latest film. I think if we get Tim Russ on board, who was also willing, these 2 will follow

Russ would be great, since Tuvok, would still be alive in the games timeline and perhaps serving as an instructor at the academy or something. (is there any word on him after VOY?) J.G Hertzler would be good too. I loved him as Martok. I could see him doing VO's or perhaps as a mission giver (in a "holographic recording" way, since the game says he was killed before 2409)....and of course Tony Todd would just be plain awesome. As would Jeffrey Combs.....(Shran, Weyoun, Brunt)

Kira was fairly religously minded, though, so it's not that much of a stretch (at least in my mind) that she would resign from the military and go into the priesthood.
As for Michelle Forbes reprising her role of *Lieutenant* Ro Laren, I have to agree; Forbes is probably not interested unless Cryptic/Atari offered her a butt-load of money - which, at this stage in the game, is probably not going to happen. I haven't read "Path to 2409" or any of the other STO related material, but I don't recall much information regarding Ro. Besides, I seriously doubt Starfleet would give someone who basically tossed her second chance at a Starfleet career out an airlock another chance. Reading some of the information on the non-canon "relaunches," I always found it a stretch that any of the Maquis members were "adopted" into Starfleet - instead of, you know, being thrown in jail. Sure, maybe the Voyager Maquis got reduced sentances for their help in getting the ship home, but become full fledged Starfleet officers? That's a little much.

According to memory Alpha. in the voyager relaunch novels, Chaotay returns to active duty in starfleet and his Maquis stuff was pardonded and he eventually became captain of Voyager wit the help of Vice-Admiral Janeway.

Same opinion here and i've read the same about her somewhere.
So i don' think that she is my #1 wanted voice actor.
But how abbout Avery Brooks, Rene Auberjonois, Michael Dorn, Armin Shimerman or Colm Meaney as voice actors?
They could be narrator in some future episodes related to their characters.
I couldn't care less if we get any more actors to do VO work after dabo Leeta. It was so annoying I had to turn off voices. Then instead of going into options to turn off voices every time it was easier not to go to DS9 anymore.

I still find that kinda odd. It's like pardoning members of a modern day terrorist group and giving them command of a US warship - in real life, people would be screaming foul play.

People are a lot more tolerant in the future: not as prone to over-react to every single aspect of their lives as we are today. I also think a large portion of Starfleet didn't disagree with the motives of the Marquis.
I actually don't support the idea. I really didn't like one of her replies in an interview a couple of months ago where she basically said "it's 2010, and people need to get over asking her ST questions." She never cared for Trek. It was just a job, which she quickly ran away from. If they're going to pay people to do VO I'd rather see them pay the ones who appreciated their roles and the time they spent doing them.
While I love the actress (and her work on BSG) I highly doubt she would be interested in STO. If any time and money is going to spent on getting actor to do VO work the efforts should focus on people genuinely interested in the project such as Tim.
I don't care whether Gowron's still alive in this time or not. Take one look at his first episode in TNG, watch the part where he widens his eyes and says "Duuuraaas" and tell me you don't want him in the game.
Could someone do a big favor for me and link me to reputable interviews where Michelle Forbes comes out and says something to the effect of: "I hated Star Trek - it was just a job, and I want nothing to do with it in the future."? I mean, she was just at Creation's Las Vegas Convention in 2008! She must not hate Star Trek that much.

Edit:
See, thats what i ment with: "Cryptic used some bits from the books"

Before the Rommies get Sela, lets get Ro Laren
Might go watch "Ensign Ro" later now... when I get out of work.... if ever

Keep the comments coming, everyone!
I ceraintly don't, she's gorgeous
and signed.
brent spiner punches a baby kitten every time someone somewhere in the world mentions haveing him do anything star trek anymore.
grats you just got a kitten killed.
