TRANSWARP HUBs?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I'm curious as to how other players would think about introducing Transwarp Hubs to both factions' home systems.
Slipstream drive allows us to get back to Earth or Qronos easily. A transwarp hub could be provided to jump back to the center of all the major sector blocks, Cutting down the slow flight all the way accross sector space.
It's not totally unbelievable to have them ingame, the new Typhon Pact novels mention a Federation transwarp network under construction. By this timeline the network could be very large.
I just wanted to know if anyone else had considered this.

We already have a transwarp to ESD function. Why would we need another?

You dont get it. I mean multiple transwarp gates from ESD back out to different sectors. (The opposite direction the current one sends you)

Oh, I see, like a gate that transwarps to Gamma Orionis or Eta Eridani. While its a nice idea, that's kind of the selling point of the T5 Excelsior.

FDC gives you transwarp to K-7, SB 39, and DS9 as you progress.

Klingon-accessible space is sufficiently small that the only transwarp I find myself wishing for is to Orelius Sector just so I don't need to cruise the length of Eta Eridani.

I thought that, but with the Excelsior you can transwarp from anywhere, you wouldn't have to be at ESD, you can go from one sector to the other accross the map. A normal player would have to transwarp back to ESD, then from there use a gate to go to the individual sector they wanted to get to.

I also think they should open up most sector blocks to Klingons, and add fleet actions and PVE targets for Klingon Players to attack. It would be a cheap way to add content for Klingons, and it would fit the faction well. Klingons need attack missions, not defensive missions.

Opening Pi Canis ("North" of Omega Leonis/Eta Eridani) to KDF ships is planned for Season 3 or shortly afterwards. (Allowing access to KDF crafting resources and more PvE missions. It's also presumably the location for the Series 3 weeklies when they are released.)

It's a nice idea, but do we really need it? After all, when you're working your way through the story missions, you're usually moving around in the same 2 sector blocks, and there's always a nearby base you can visit to buy items or access the bank/exchange. The Klingon story missions have ESD and K7, the Romulan ones have Starbase 39-Sierra and Memory Alpha, the Cardie ones have DS9, the Breen have DS9 and K7, and you've got Task Force Omega for the Borg/Undine. That home system hub idea would come in handy when you're grinding for diplomacy XP and you need to bounce from sector block to sector block fast, but other than that it just seems superfluous.
