Should I upgrade to Tetryon or Poleron weapons? (Ground)

Hello,

I am a Captain 5. I have 2 Mark VI arc wave plasma weapons (rare). I also have that anti proton mini canon given by the Devidian missions and that freeze weapon given by the Breen I think. I also have 1 rare Mark VI plasma sniper rifle with 303 dmg exploit attack.

I am not big on poleron and tetryon weapons (I go for damage potential -dpv and dps- rather than special attacks of poleron and tryon weapons and plasma weapons do extra damage).

So I was wondering if I have to upgrade to Mark VIII poleron or tetryon weapons or Mark VIII common plasma weapons (Memory alpha does not support Mark VIII rare plasma weapon crafting and my current Mark VI plasma weapons have cool specials and I do not want to lose them for common Mark VIII weapons). But it seems Captain level (tier 4) enemies are too powerful for the dps of my current weapons so I am undecided.

What do you suggest?

Polaron ground weapons are great for advanced/elite ground combat, as anything that shuts down the enemies' attacks is worth far more than an extra bit of damage.

On normal, it's fairly irrelevant. You should be destroying all of the ground enemies with ease, even if all your Boffs are untrained and you're using junk you looted from ground missions.

I usually go all polaron split beam for myself and my bridge officers.

I can usually disable nearly everyones weapons in a given mob with this setup. That coupled with the Breen ground weapon's secondary attack leads to a large number of exposes, which leads to a lot of vaporizing. :p
