Just wanted to share this for all of those who claim the Klingons are overpowered and the Feds need a carrier, the klinks need nerfed or some other drival.
20 minutes ago I was in 5 on 5 arena match. 4 Fed cruisers and a science vessel vs a carrier, 1 BOP, 3 cruiser variants. 45 minute match. We (Feds) were down 7 to 4 then regrouped and turned it around. At one point we actually forced the Klingons to retreat. In the waning minutes of the match we were down 10 to 13, then 12 to 14, and then we some tactics and three kills at once we won 15 to 14. The best match I have ever played. What won it? Teamwork. The Klingons are powerfull yes but not overpowered. The right group working together can win.
Don't change anything. I am not a world class Pvper but I had fun and will continue to do so. Leave it alone.

Try this with 3 carriers in there . Infact try that same setup with a klink pre-made or some klink fleets who know what they are doing.
Yeah we crushed a klink team too the other day 15-2 but hey they were not great players and didnt have a clue what they were doing.
Then the i took the same team that crushed the klinks 15-2 vs some fleet premades and we got our behind handed to us 15-4. They had three carriers and damn the pet spawn rate alone was enough to give me a headache in toggling through targets, add to that a well setup BOP and a well setup Negh'var it didnt matter how good our team work was, they just crushed us and this was us on TS3 calling out heals and targets..
So yes the klink ships are OP'd, esp the new carrier and their BOP is unparalled in terms of escorts. The defiant doesnt hold a candle to the Hegh'Tah. I still maintain a well setup carrier will easily out do a well setup Star cruiser in any game inclusive of 1v1
I have been on the Klingon side when a rocking Fed team enters the Arena. You can immediately feel the difference between a Fed team with good teamwork and one that isn't communicating and acting in unison. With the latter, you can carve up the Feds like Thanksgiving Turkey.
But with the former? A Fed team that works together and communicates?
You are left blinking and shaking your head as your ship explodes and asking yourself, "What happened?"

We should call for nerfs against Federation Cruisers and Science ships. Oh wait, I forgot we dont cry foul. We bind our wounds, learn and adapt. It seems the Federation doesn't like our IWIN buttons, I'm truly sorry you didn't find the cloak and universal bo's to your liking. Maybe you should ask for things that have FEDERATION written all over it, instead of trying to incorporate Klingon, Roumulan, Breen, and Cardascian in the Federation of nosy, gossipy, meddlesome do-evilers. Yes thats right, EVIL go kill some more civilians, raid more territory, and threaten every race you come across in the name of peace.
Stipe, good post and I wish more people would actually realize that an organized Fed team will always win.
Well, not always. Just depends on who worked together the best, and what mix of ships you have. I too have been on some really great Fed teams, rare as hell, but it happens. Sad thing is, is that most Feds when they loose, would rather blame the rest of the team for the loss. Either that or they whine and cry over zone chat the whole fight instead of working together.
I find all too often, that I can call targets, then notice I or one other are the only ones who are actually targeting the called target. Then when the match is finished, one or two of the Feds who were not participating in the called targets want to blame everyone else on the team.
My daddy always used to say, "You can't fix stupid."
I've always felt that the Klingons, because of how the faction was set up, is a majority of experienced PvPers who know with fair to great sureness how to organize, think, and strike right where it hurts. Coupled with ships designed to do exactly that, you have a recipe for extremely formidable PvP teams. So much so that one could argue slightly toning down Klingon ships.
However, despite the edge Klingon ships have, I also maintain that it is not so significant that an equally organized and practiced Federation team cannot overcome them.
I'd wager than given even teams of equivalent experience, you'd see a 3/2 win/loss ration favoring Klingons, and again, only because their ships are designed to do everything needed to create an advantage in PvP, whereas Federation ships are generally more balanced or of limited specialization.
I agree and I mostly play Fed. I've noticed a lot of Feds like to wander off by themselves, the only thing I will complain about is playing an escort in pvp effing blows. I think that escorts are easy points in arena matches due to their low shields and Klinks knows this and take advantage of it. Nobody can convince me otherwise cause I've played a Klink in pvp for quite a while and have learned that one of the biggest rules is to always target escorts and it works - It's a really quick and easy way to win a pvp match.
Whenever I play my cruiser I stand really well against klinks, my escort dies in less than a minute and it's not because of my build or tactics, it's because I have the minimum of 3 ships firing at me at once. Personally, I think Escorts are too weak.
But this is all from my experience, I think the only way an escort could stand a chance is to build it into a tank as much as you can, but then you don't get to take advantage of the dps perks of an escort therefore ruining the purpose of having an escort.

Yes, we target escorts first. Just like on the Federation side we target raptors and bop's first, but here's the difference when Klingons see that escort tanking well or making a run for it, we locate the healer or chose a new target and obliterate it and when that escort returns he gets added back to the kill list. We also don't break formations like Feds do, we don't continually fire on ships rotating resist buffs, rsp, and so on, unless it has been hit by a SNB, and we definitely do not sit at the spawn point going " OH Look the Klingons are decloaking and have locked disruptors on us. What should we do?"

I've been on both sides of the gun in ground and space, and teamwork goes a long. At the same time, I've been on a good Klink team, winning match after match, only to get owned by Feds who (drum roll) worked well as a team on top of the good equip they had.
To add to Geoff and Serpieri's points When I play my raptor in PvP I'm often using my hazard emitters and TSS to top up other players on the team. I'm an engineer admittedly so I have a couple more buffs I can use to keep myself alive but the main reason I do this is because unlike on the fed side I can usually expect the favour to be returned.
For reference I only pug on my klingon, I've come close to doing a premade before... but that was more of a pug that just stayed grouped up when the match ended because we were actually working together. still there was no voice-chat involved no prior organisation we just teamed up when we got into a match and after all leaving and ending up with the same three other people three matches in a row we stopped leaving the team and just qued up together. Damn that was a good day. Still you want to know what happened the first organised fed team we came up against, we lost 15-2 despite having won most matches that day by at least 15-5.

Played another match earlier today against my better judgement but want the emblems.
2 Carriers on the klingon side. FInal score 15-0. We, the Feds lost again in the same exact way and fashion we have been since the Carrier showed up. Its not just overpowered, its laughable how long the problem has remained.
Its not just overpowered, its laughable how long the problem has remained.
Its also laughable how long the carrier went as nothing more than a floating brick used as bait, did it get too much of a buff, most likely yes and you'll find plenty of klingon players that agree, myself included. At least now its actually useful in pvp rather than dead weight.
Diamond is European. I know this for a fact because she was talking in another locked and deleted thread about how it would be so nice to have servers separated by regions so she wouldn't have to deal with "yanks", as she put it.
She's also not worth getting worked up over, trust me. I've read her posts in three threads today and realized I was wasting my breath by the second.
Why are you deducing my nationality from a statement, for your information I am English. I'm not stating an opinion, I'm stating a fact. Star Trek was not about following the Klingon as they caused countless pointless wars (well maybe except DS9), it has always been centered around the development of the Federation. Through Star Trek Online, most of Gene Roddenberry's vision has been lost. To quote a line from TNG.
"My father taught me from an early age that the United Federation of Planets, was the most remarkarble insitution ever concieved". Admiral Nora Saati - TNG Season 4 - "The Drumhead"
As far as I see it, the game would have worked better if it had been the Khitomer Accords Vs the Typhon Pact. Just would have made more sense.
Thank you for your input btw Jexsam, my previous arguement was rude and I apologise for going so far off topic however I believe my observation is still a valid one.

Played a match 15 minutes ago (PUG) - 1 Klingon Carrier, 1 Refit Vor'Cha, 2 Bird of Prey's and 1 Neg'Var vs 3 Cruisers (2 Excelsiors, 1 Star Cruiser) and 2 Recon Science Ships.
Score 0-15 - with Klingons dealing more damage and losing. They must of cheated and TRIBBLE right? Because the Federation can't win
Yes, we target escorts first. Just like on the Federation side we target raptors and bop's first, but here's the difference when Klingons see that escort tanking well or making a run for it, we locate the healer or chose a new target and obliterate it and when that escort returns he gets added back to the kill list. I could be wrong but I think you got the wrong vibe from my post, I wasn't saying klinks shouldn't do that, it's a good tactic and helps you get wins. However, it's just my opinion that escorts are weak, yes, even weaker than BoPs. I play BoP Klink side and I don't die nearly as much as my escort does and it's a lot easier to escape with them - even in KvK arenas.
Then again that could go back to your point in which Feds have terrible tactics and as I've said in my original post, I completely agree. Feds wander off and don't communicate, carriers do make it frusterating however because it's VERY difficult to target what you want with a billion ships flying around and dazing the Feds, which is imo a big advantage. If there's a tactic to get around that then by all means inform me, but half the time after a few seconds of firing on my intended target I have no idea what I'm firing at and hitting tab is useless with that many ships around - Then I find myself getting frusterated trying to click on the target and after accidently clicking on fighters about 1000 times in a row I'm dead.
I don't think Klinks should get nerfed, I don't think Feds should get a carrier, etc. etc. etc. It's just very frusterating for me personally in an escort in pvp, because not only am I the highest on the kill list but I can't even target what I want to fire at half the time. I'm honestly not even sure what the solution could be, maybe I'm too slow? Maybe Escorts have low survivability? I don't know, all I know is it blows playing escorts in arena pvp.
Overall, I think the biggest thing that Feds don't realize and again this is just my opinion, is we level up mostly through PvE unlike the Klinks, obviously. I think that kinda makes Feds pvp TRIBBLE, we don't really start getting into pvp until level cap and you can even tell in a lot of Feds playing styles that they're stuck in a single player kind of mentallity since that's what they've done mostly.
