Everyone has been talking about the Klingons blowing up SB1 to pave the way for the eventual revamp. We know Qo'noS is getting a revamp too.
And I think part of promoting GOOD factional conflict means NEITHER side should be passive.
So I was thinking... Anybody here play the various "Death Star" decks from Decipher's Trading Card Game? It basically entailed upgrading a starbase with every kind of shields and weapons enhancement seen in the shows, moving it the way DS9 moved in "Emissary" and using it as a weapons platform to nuke an enemy.
It occurs to me that it would be especially epic if we had a really gung-ho admiral work with the SCE to move Starbase 1 TO Qo'noS and use it as a super-weapon, intent on ending the war. Then we could have space and ground elements to support the revamp and cover why both revamps happen at once.
As for HOW it moves... Well, there are those anomalies which link both Sol and the Qo'noS system to the Captain's Table. A devious admiral could use the Captain's Table as an exploitive means to move a fleet at the starbase to Qo'noS.
And in the end, you get the revamps of Qo'noS, ESD AND how the Captain's Table is accessed (my vote, a "transwarp" that spits you back out at your old location when you leave, making it a mobile vendoring/etc. hub on its own cooldown).
