I know a few die hard trek fans dont like the JJ abrums movie but personaly i loved the movie and the look of all the ships/sets with the higher budget. I know that it would be difficult to get the licencing but i would love to see the following content availabe in STO: Ships - from the enterprise to the other fedaration ships that were seen in the movie, Bridges - the bridges in the movie looked alot more alive with glass displays and was alot more visualy apealing that the gray brridges seen in the tv show. Weapons - im sure there are a few people who wouldnt mind weilding sulus fold up katana or the phaser that can fire both red and blue shots.

I hope that we can see these aditions in the future and if theres anything else from the movie that anyone else would like to see added leave your suggestions below.

Cryptic doesn't have the license to use anything from the 09 movie. Paramount owns the rights to that, not CBS.

Call me "die hard trek fan", but to me STO its the only thing of Star Trek that remanins alive..
I really dont want JJ Trek Wars in this game, thay make us clear to us that they dont want to knew anything about the prime time line, so i dont want to knew nathing about that Trek Wars time line.

    JJ TreK FTW.

Much needed change after the dross that was the next generation films and the utter tosh that was Voyager.

Agreed. Though I kinda liked ENT.

I would love a JJ style Enterprise.

I think it is completely safe to assume that we will NEVER see JJ Trek Ships, Uniforms, Equipment and stories in STO.

CBS is not likely to approve any co-mingling of the 2 timelines.

Furthermore, JJ Trek is the "new hope" for the franchise, therefore licensing rights and the use of the new timeline content is most likely being protected as heavily as the Secret Service protects the President.

    Now, all that being said...

I would not at all be surprised if we eventually saw a JJ Trek-based MMO. And I wouldn't be surprised if Cryptic ended up making it, once they have gotten STO to the point they want, and have developed all the systems they want game-play wise. Especially if the next JJ Trek movie is successful, I would fully expect to see a new MMO based on the JJ Timeline.

Isn't the emissary bridge pack based off the '09 bridge?

Enterprise content is owned by CBS and is part of the ST license. ST 09 content is owned by Paramount and isn't part of the license. It's never going to happen. :)

Well, it could happen, but they would have to get Paramount into the deal on that one. I would like to the the JJprise, but it won't happen for a while, if ever.

The only bridge I would care about is a TOS bridge. That the 1966/67 bridge. no refit versions.

The JJ trek was a disgrace IMO.........they reimagined the series so it would be trendy for today.......YAY FOR MAKING MONEY.

I hated the ships weapons..awwww little pew pew cannons all over the ships 2ndary hull.....I hated the ships layout....the engine room looked like a beer manufacturing plant.

Kirk was a wimp and always getting beat on......Spock was played poorly. far too emotional.

Mr Scott was entertaining as was his sidekick who liked to sit upon things.

Bones was IMO was portrayed properly.

The space battles SFX were superb....no sound in space.

WTF!! Uhura in this movies kisses a superior officer ....and Spock allowed it.....yeah all in front of other officers/crew

That director or whatver he is should go back to his godzilla TRIBBLE......he does not belong in the Star trek universe.

From the behind the scenes stuff i have seen he seems a real nice person IRL but thats not what I am hitting on here....

    the movie blew chunks.

I hope they do not add the 2009 movie in any fashion to this MMO.

I find this and other comments about the inability to use elements from the movie confusing since when I started the game Spock spoke all about the red matter, which we have in game, and the destruction of the Romulan homeworld.

And I loved the movie personally. Was exactly what a franchise that was on it's last legs needed. And it was FUN. It did something better then earlier Trek films had, it appealed to Non Trek Fans and made them fans. You can't really argue with success.:)

I think you missed the whole point of the movie. Especially when it comes to the way all of the characters were changed.

The engine room WAS a beer brewing facility. There were budget issues. It was a very poor decision.

Those pew pew lasers were not actual weapons. They are point defense anti torpedo systems.

Anyway. I liked the movie but I am friken elated none of the JJ stuff can ever enter STO. It simply does not belong for all the reasons that are geeky. That whole alternate continuity/its another and separate reality thing. The JJ Enterprise is as bigger than and as powerful as a Sovereign. To insert that ship in STO would totally unbalance every concept in the game.

Just don't do it if the opportunity arises. STO could not survive the fan outrage that would result. Some would like it, true. Most would hate it and it would drive some of those people to irrational aggression. Mark my words, the crazies will come out.

    I strongly disagree...

Why? Because a Bad story that also ruins canon and dosen't stay faithful to the respect the series had earned has no buissness in this game.

The red matter and the destruction of Romulus occur ed in the main timeline/reality. it was Nero and Spock going into the past and futzing everything up (especially Nero) that created the alternate timeline/reality.

To repeat: red matter , the destruction of Romulus, and Spock disappearing is main line. Everything else is not. This concept is sacrosanct to the HUGE number of actual trekkers playing STO. To violate it would incite revolt, I tell ya.

In what previous film did these things occur? Or was it in a book?

Incite riots? I think far more people liked it then you may think. Only a very small percentage of players actually post I would think. And several here liked the movie.

As for those living and dying with canon, well, the canon movies and shows more or less sputtered and died. They were/are done. And Kirk is dead.

So I'm very grateful for a infusion of new ideas and new possibilities. Anyone who would go crazy over game options being made available, maybe shouldn't be allowed to play one. I have to hope you are mistaken on that point. But as it sounds we will never know.

It actually was in the "Countdown" comics, so not a book but close enough.

    http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Trek:_Countdown

Cryptic could use this material, for example Data as captain of the Enterprise or the story
leading to the disappearance of Spock and the injuries Worf suffered at the hands of Nero that were also mentioned in the STO novel, but anything "after" that (from Spock's perspectice) is not possible to use because that's in the movie.

What I do not understand at all about the 'prime' time line and Nero in this game is the fact how Cryptic portrays the Narada as some AWESOME SUPER EXTREME Scimitar level super ship... prior to it's disappearance into the past.

Nero says it is a simple mining ship but because his technology is from 129+ years from the future it makes tech from 2233/2258 pale in comparison, which is why the Narada destroyed 47 Klingon warships and turned the Kelvin into swiss cheese in one shot. But in the prime timeline, the Narada is just as powerful as it is after it travels back in time...

Read the 'Countdown' prequel comics, the Narada was just simple mining ship until a secret Romulan outpost applied re-engineered Borg tech to it.

A bit of adaptation later and you have that tentacular nightmare from the movie.

Meh... sounds like a lame attempt to make the STO storyline more dramatic then it really is... more like a way to get rid of everything we knew from the end of DS9/Voyager/Nemesis so that Cryptic could get this pre-approved storyline into a time frame not so distant from those events as it probably shoulda been.

Oh well... I still enjoy flying around and blowing up ships when they don't suddenly jump from a couple level below me to 30+ above me all of a sudden... >.<

So please share your insights as to why the created this movie? I am totally not understanding why they are doing this if it is not for money and to relaunch a steadfast series for newer and younger people who do not know and or like Rodenberrys sometimes preachy Star trek:)

I'm not crazy about the new ENTERPRISE, though I liked the movie...

But I would definitely LOVE to have something like the USS KELVIN in STO. :)

I tried to watch it last night to see if it had any saving graces.

I soon turned it off and watching To Serve all My days......they did woderful.

For those of you who do not know. Star Trek Phase 2 is a continuation of Rodenberry's Star Trek from way back yonder if he had made 5 seasons of adventures.

The have a few stars from TOS and Denise Crosby appearing as guest stars as well. This aint no fan film as comapred to others i have ever seen.
One of the best things they do is use commercials from the 60's those NBC PEACOCK snipits just before the show etc.

Doomsday Device was in a series of shows and it was spectacular IMO....
