Pop up boxes vs. windows`

I'm not sure I see the difference? They look the same to me. What exactly is different about these new pop up boxes?

I'm not seeing anything different.

    They look completely different.

The original ones are huge low res looking things that cover a quarter of the screen and always require you to press 'continue' or similar to make them go away.

The new ones are much smaller, look higher res and dont require interaction to get rid of.

Uhm.... Am I somehow getting the old ones still?

They're only being used sparingly when the boffs only have a little bit to say at the moment. For the most part the old ones are still being used. You'll know the new ones when you see them.

I supposedly should have seen them in "Everything Old is New" and "What Lies Beneath", right?

Yes - these are the only missions where they're used I think.

ide love to see these pop up things on the screen in those sectors where you have to defend the base. always end up to get some boff window in the face when there is a warp core going critical right next to my ship. quite unnerving...

They're also used in the Neutral Zone Daily Patrols now (Alhena, Traelus and Shran freighter).

They'll show up in your chat log as just green text as well.

They come up like accolade notifications on your screen. I love them because they don't break the flow of glorious combat like the large windows do.

They also feel a bit nostalgic because they remind me of the little message boxes in some of the old classic RPG's :D

All in all they are just perfect for quick notifications.

I love the new little boxes. It's more like your BO is talking to you over your shoulder instead of jumping right in your face to talk to you.

I like them, but perhaps they need to be up for longer? They can be fairly easy to miss.

The malfunctioning mirror universe hologram had several of them.

And even more annoying its normally to state the blindingly obvious like:
    "Defend the base!"
"What the dickens do you think I'm doing already?!"

I just love those little notification popups because they basically make me feel like my Bridge Officers are actually there with me, and not just minions to be ordered around when I feel like it or when there's someone to fight. :)

As far as I can tell, they don't work properly if you're grouped. They only appear for the Team Leader, and other members can't even see the Green Mission Text.

If they pop up in the new dailies, I haven't even seen them when soloing. :(

That's a darn shame if that's true, and I hope it gets fixed as soon as possible.
