My mixed feedback on the way things are going...

I have been having very mixed feelings about my STO experiance as of late. On the one hand the game itself has been making great strides in improving every aspect of the experiance. The recent missions have been the best that Cryptic have to offer both in terms of setting, style and story. While season three with the foundry looks set to smash the issue of lack of endgame mission variety.

ON THE OTHER HAND- the forums. Based on my irrefutable calculations, a good £1.50 of my subscription is for my access here and frankly I am NOT happy. I look back with fond memories to the days when these forums were full of doom, iquit threads, expert trolls and rage over cryptics latest marketing gaffe- it made things so much more entertaining, now all I see is constructive discussion and development of good ideas.

I have been shocked that there have been no plans mentioned in any engineering reports or interviews to fix this burning issue- it wouldnt take much, just a small drop of the ball would be in order- maybe just make the Nebula a free ship now that everyone has already forked out for one, that would set things ablaze and show that Cryptic cares about those players who have been unhappy about the way the forums are developing.

(Seriously though, great job on bringing this game ever closer to what I knew it had the potential to be:D )

you're kidding right? :( that's what the forums are FOR: constructive discussion and development of good ideas to improve the game... not misusing it to do the mentioned below threads

doom threads... now that STO is here and improving, there is NO point in them (end of story)
iquit threads... they're still here, but don't listen to them, you don't want those types of players in-game anyway
expert troll threads... no longer here because they can instead argue with their fellow fleet members or random players in-game instead of the forums (which is a relief really)
rage over Cryptic marketing decisions threads... still here (but only in post form, not actually doing whole threads over it), but they've been toned down a lot (which is also a relief)

i and many others like the forums the way they are now, and there is ABSOLUTELY NO POINT in wasting Cryptic's time to change the forums your way, so deal with it :)

p.s i mean no offense to you personally by saying this, but if you are offended anyway, that's your problem and not mine :D

I haven't tried, but isn't the Nebula for sale for badges of exporation or something? Meaning you can get it free if you grind. I certainly don't intend to pay for stuff lol.

    DonGui,

I'm very glad to see that you are enjoying your time in STO, and the improvements which we have been striving hard to make for you, and our other fans.

In regards to the apparent calm on the forums, I feel I must apologize. While it is true that we at Cryptic prefer a much more polite, and constructive forum environment, I can understand how some might like a more hostile environment.

To that end I have tagged this post with the sad emoticon, and will conclude with the inclusion four angry emoticons, the maximum allowed by the system.:mad::mad::mad:

    Thanks,

    Stormshade

haha nice, would read again ;)

I'm glad that the forums have become a progressive area. I haven't played for a while myself and recently logged in to start climbing up the ladder to Vice Admiral and I have to say wow Cryptic, you're starting to really turn this game towards something better and I'm glad, I want to see this game grow with the potential it has. Job well done so far Cryptic :)

Now go hire Patrick Stewart for a special appearance ingame plz :D lol.

I must be getting mild in my old age. Use to be, I'd have been banned by now for my nerd-rage over something. I got banned on one forum one time for correcting someone's atrocious and excessive spelling mistakes. It was called a 'personal attack', so lame. :D

The OP made me laugh :)
Indeed, the recent updates have been great and the forum drama has been significantly reduced. I am glad that I play other games as well where the forum drama is still there and the updates have less quality ;)

It is early in the week, give it some time. :p

( A tiny bit of noise is probably healthy, just shows people are alive. Sounds counter-productive on a forum, but it's our nature after all. When everything is quiet, serene and rosy, you tend to suspect something is all wrong? :D )

It will be the same.UGC will not bring more real end game content too the game.

I look back with fond memories to the days when these forums were full of doom, iquit threads, expert trolls and rage over cryptics latest marketing gaffe-

That because all of those players have left the game.

It is just a shame there aren't many around to see it. Cryptic and Atari crippled STO. You never get a second chance with an MMO.

It's safe to say that the relative calm is no doubt mainly due to the weekly series that have been getting pushed out the door.

As a rule, content makes people happy. Regular content keeps people happy. It also reminds people, weekly, that their sub dollars are going somewhere, and that the game itself is going somewhere.

If Cryptic keeps things up the forums could... stay relatively pleasant? It doesn't either seem nor sound entirely natural, but it may just be a possibility...

Well, there'll always be someone who doesn't understand sarcasm or jokes. Personally, I loved it and knew right away that you were kidding.

Stormies posts made me chuckle inside, too. I love a dev with a sense of humor. :D

I do admire the Zen in releasing a three bullet-point release note about emotes.
