Starfield Warp Effect in Sector Space!

I was thinking something along the lines of the slipstream graphic while we are at normal warp in sector space. Would add some immersion I think.

It doesn't quite feel like star trek without the "at warp" star effect which probably accounted for 15 percent of every episode but for some reason has not been included in STO.

Storm? Dstahl? Any chance of this being talked about at HQ already?

    The devs said a number of changes are coming to Sector Space in Season 3.

    I'll leave it at that. ;)

    Hey - the devs said changes are coming in Season 3. I'm only going to repeat what they said.

    Yes, I've read that too. My original question stands.

    Thank you for your inputs.

    The stars or particles or whatever that passed by the enterprise like a screensaver is actually unrealistic (surprise!) when travelling at relativistic speeds. All you would be able to see to the front of the ship would be blue, while everything behind the ship would be red, I don't know what would be at the terminal point (90 degrees from the direction you're travelling) but I don't think it would be very interesting.

    Besides, I don't need to be distracted at low levels from noticing there's a mission at a system I'm passing. It especially wouldn't do Klinks any good in Season 3 since they'll need to keep an eye out for fed transports to raid.

    As the devs said, the changes in Pelia and Orellius are just the beginning. They said quite a bit more would be done to change Sector Space's look for Season 3.

    I, personally, think starlines would make sector space look a lot like the shows - so would getting rid of graphical clutter.

    The devs said Sector Space is being changed for Season 3. You'll have to trust them until you see it.

    Probably about as realistic as Devidians...

    I'm only repeating what the devs said.

    I wouldn't say all the changes discussed by the developers (in past statements) are solely cosmetic - go back and look at some of their posts, specifically dstahl and the project asset artists (the name escapes me).

    ===========

    I fully support this thread's suggestion. I sure hope the devs are listening - these are some good ideas that people ahve suggested since launch. :)

    If they did have plans for this, I wonder if they could elaborate?
