What will the bonus devidan reward be?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I'm willing to wager that the constant reward will be a proton ship weapon, but what of the reward that one receives for finishing the devidan series before the new weekly opens up?

Possibly a tos hand phaser?
Possibly a device that makes npcs do the levitate hold that the devidans do?
Maybe the reward will have something to do with the comet...

Only time (or a dev) will tell

I think the bonus reward is going to be a repaired Holo BO; though I think occasionally it needs to say Bonnie-Kin in it's replies to you. :)

I think it needs to occasionally just start taunting you. Your away team is sneaking up to a Klingon outpost and then it starts reciting that sonnet from "What Lies Beneath" for no reason whatsoever.

    It's a Kirk-Janeway Device (+22 Irritation, -43 Plot Sensibility).

It randomly throws you into the past and hacks off Starfleet's Time Team :p

    Devidian BO?

I know it sounds dumb, but we did get a Breen BO..... how crazy is that in itself?

Except the Devs have already ruled that out completely.

I dig the holo BO, especially if it''s both customizable and uses the Bonnie-Kin VO sporadically. (Though in this case, I kinda think the C-Store version should ship without the extra VO.) It would be a nice "thank you" from the Ferengi who run the station (and also a backhanded indicator of them being cheap, pawning off creepy, defective merchandise on you.)

However, I could also see it being a gift from McCoy that he left behind for you.

One idea I have is the eyeglasses he gave Kirk. (Which Kirk sold in the 20th century.) There's that line:
Spock: [in response to Kirk pawning his antique spectacles from Wrath of Khan] Excuse me, Admiral. But weren't those a birthday gift from Dr. McCoy?
Kirk: And they will be again, that's the beauty of it.
    [to the Antique Store Owner]
    Kirk: How much?
Antique Store Owner: Well, they'd be worth more if the lenses were intact. I'll give you one hundred dollars for them.
Kirk: [pause] Is that a lot?

Then we get glasses unlocked as a costume piece.

Another thought: the title "Old Country Doctor".

    One more thought...

Given the timetable of events, we're seeing McCoy just after "Dagger of the Mind".

The Neural Neutralizer from that episode was a brainwashing device but I could see it being converted into an anti-Devidian weapon by McCoy while it's fresh in his memory.

I could see it being a ground device that basically acts similar to the Orion "Seduce" racial but doubles as an exploit attack against Devidians.

    Hm.

Actually, I could see where the NN, weaponized would probably have a standard attack that does psychic damage rather than phaser/disruptor damage (making those psychic resist racials a bit more valuable) but its exploit attack is a seduce rather than a damage dealer (which lowers its overall DPS to compensate for its specialness) but retains the ability to function as an exploit against Devidians.

One thing that points toward the holo-BO is the line of dialogue where we're specifically told the hologram has a mobile emitter.

That's not actually essential to the plot since the Ferengi who took over Drosana could have simply installed holo-emitters on the station. (And we're even told that would be less expensive.)

That seems to pave the way for the hologram to be able to leave the station.

That was basically my thinking as well. There's also the discussion about what should be done with the BO after you defeat it. That leads me to believe that we end up keeping it; and it's certainly rare enough that most of the players in the game don't have one.

Not just that, but it would be an excellent item for Cryptic on the c-store (assuming it eventually makes it on there). Fingers crossed :D

Holo BOs are already in the game. They're Referral awards for getting someone to buy and play the game for a month. As such I don't think they'll get added to the c-store later as that would reduce their effectiveness as a Referral item.

The devs have mentioned a two week "rerun" period where they allow people who missed the first run to be able to do the missions and get the special rewards. I'm actually holding off on doing the last Deferi mission with my alt for exactly that reason.

    Could be.......
Use of a Devidian cover shield that you can use in space dock;)
    or
A Devidian bridge officer. Of course you cant see him because your enhancer dont work on the bridge. "but trust Cryptic he is there!"
    or
A Emote that says "I see you" You thought the cover shield guys are bad. Imagine not a moments peace on ESD or other social zone when in every room you hear "I see you" Multiple voices almosty like the Borg;)
    or
CLICK TO SIT! ;) Maybe a Devidian blue chair that you can bring with you to ESD and use whenever you want. Of course you cant see the chair because the enhancer dont work on ESD but again "trust Cryptic it is there!"

;) But really I would like to the "mobile emmiter officer"

By repaired do you mean editable, or would it suck as much as the current one? :p

Wanna bet? :p Friends and I overlapped 2 of them the other night and summoned a Dahar Master, then overlapped 3 and got an Eilodon, and then a bunch of tribbles later.

Of course, the Dahar Master killed my bridge crew and I had to change bridges to get them back.

Im thinking the quest reward will be a special torpedo that gives Proton damage ie: [Devidian Proton Torpedo]

As for the special reward, I dont think we will get another BO... most likely somthing related to the comet in someway like a comet shard trophey or a comet holo skin...

Somthing out of the ordinary me thinks :)
