Iconians are probably too iconic for only a 5-parter. :)

Yes, I believe a fan did come up with a list, and I believe a Dev stated it was one of the races on the list. Of course that list is still valid. We can just subtract off the Devidians. :)

    I vote for Tribbles.

Or perhaps an Episode revolving around a greedy Ferengi war profiteer and you have to use your wits to out smart him.

The Maquis or similar group. It'll take place in the sector just opened up to the Klingons.

Pi Canas is a long way from Beta Ursae and the home of the Marquis. I think the level of that zone is around LC 9/10 too. That might be too high for a Weekly series.

It would be a Maquis-type group, not necessarily the Maquis. But I think Cryptic will look at their stats and see the bulk of their players are doing these Weekly Series higher than LC9; probably closer to VA1.

What I mean is that getting to the missions in that zone would be very dangerous for players under the level of the zone. They'd have to set the minimum for the weekly at around 20 to make it safe for players to be in that zone and not get totaled by the DSEs, and 20 would probably alienate a lot of characters from doing it.

Maybe. I think if you are at a point where you are playing the third series, you should be well beyond level 20. My two cents.

I think people make new characters all the time. Not everyone playing the 3rd series will have gone through the first 2. I currently have 10 alts and by the time Series 3 comes out in Jan I'll probably have 2 more, and who knows what level they'll be. :)

True enough. But I'm sure the DSEs can be modified to not attack anyone outside of a certain rank range.

    It's the Tholians.

Stahl let it "slip" on an interview with the boys from STOked. He only said it in passing and you have to pay attantion during the interview.

Indeed, the tachyon detection grid is just the Tholian Grid in another color (and the devs were working on Series 3 at the time).

That's not what he said in the interview. The STOked announcers said it was the Tholians at the very beginning. Dstahl said he already had the script for 3 and then went on to talk about the tech needed in the game for the Tholians. It was never confrimed that Tholians were season 3.

I believe it was indicated that the Tholians were the enemy for Series 3, not neccesarily Season 3. I'm kinda getting confused with the wording being tossed around.

The Tholians could be coming to Season 3. They could be opening a new sector....

Lol, the French. Jean-Luc Picard takes offense to that.

Yes i do believe it is the Tholians, and that should be cool. I would def like to fight more NON-bipedal enemies in this game. Monsters of all sorts. Those spiders last week were a good start.

In the interview Jeremy is the one who said the Tholians were coming in the season after the Devidians at the 1:02 mark of the interview. At 4:15 Dstahl says he's reviewing the Series 3 script. At 5:35 he talks about loving to see the Tholains as a series antagonist but Tholians would take a lot of lead time because of all the animation tech and new ships designs and such. At 6:25 he says he can't honestly say when the Tholains will hit the episode circuit because of the time involved but that you can tell they are working on them well in advance.

Based on that series 3 script is done and being worked on. They're working on Tholian tech for a future episode but it doesn't seem to be Series 3.

they said it will take some time because their animation has to be invented first, not being humanoid.

i doubt the tholians will be series 3, possible, but very unlikely.

It would be a Maquis-type group, not necessarily the Maquis.
It couldn't be the actual TNG/DS9 Maquis, anyway. They were wiped out by the Dominion. Plus, the conditions that led to the creation of the Maquis (Federation colonies that came under the control of a hostile empire that was trying to foce them out while the Federation stood by and let it happen) don't exist in the current state of affairs.

Maybe the worlds trying to break free of the Romulan Empire could band together and form a Maquis-like organization, but it wouldn't be quite the same as the original Maquis.

I suppose another possibility is that a few of the more die-hard survivors of the original Maquis decided to revive it. But that doesn't really work, either. Cardassians have, by and large, turned over a new leaf and are much more peaceful than they were 30 odd years ago. The True Way is the only aggressor in that area, but they've got no power in the current Cardassian government.

And, now that I think about it, the True Way has pretty much become the Maquis stand in. They're a splinter group operating without the support of the main Cardassian government, they use terror tactics, their ranks are full of disaffected Cardassian soldiers, and both the Cardassians and Federation are out to get them. The only major difference is that the True Way has more supplies and support because they've teamed up with the quadrant's Dominion remnant.

I hope for some sort of a criminal organisation consisting of races belonging to the Federation and the Klingon Empire as next enemy. This would allow characters belonging both factions to progress with corresponding accolades. ;)

It would be cool to try taking on the Orion Syndicate (the criminal part of it). Surely they're breaking Klingon laws in addition to Federation laws. Plus, their operatives would, by necessity, be cross-faction.
