But is that Retrofitted Phaser just meant for fun?
It does a lot less damage than any XI Weapon, even though it should Level with the toon.
(XI Phaser Array: 215 Full Phaser Skill + Beam Weapons; Retro Phaser: 202 Full Phaser + Base Dmg)
I won't start talking about passives now, as the Xi's are Very rares, but the Blue Phasers Leveling is a bit off...

The reward is basically just the TOS Connie's phaser. I was going to put it on my TOS Connie, when I saw that the phasers that where already on it had been changed to the new one. I think these one are very useful, mainly because they scale. Not everyone has MK XI weapons, which means that these can be useful until you get them. Overall, it was a nice item to get if you don't have the TOS Connie, if you do, kinda pointless.
Exactly this. It's a for-fun item that you can use in the last episode of the series: you can be firing a blue TOS phaser at the comet, possibly surrounded by 23rd century ships also firing them.
Pruples have the same base damage as their white counter parts, that is what the the topic is about. Not those fancy special abilities purples bring along
Also, I must point out, the tooltip is messed up and glitched. It will say a lower value then it actually is (I think). When I equipped it the thing still said the lower output but hovering over the icon in the weapons bar showed a higher one.
Now, I don't know which is correct.
If the higher output is correct then the things are at least pretty considerably stronger than MK X blues (I did this on my Rear Admiral Lower Half). Possibly stronger than MK X purples (it looked like it would be). Probably as strong as MKXI blues but not purples.

and its better for new players or people with alts. its not an uber weapon for vice admirals.

Again, the tooltips say DIFFERENT things.
