Patcher woes

I just resubbed today, but am currently still patching my client due to having been away for so long and missing a good chunk of content. I don't mind things getting patched, but I would like them to be delivered in a manner that's either more expedient than what it is now, or won't impede on my sub time.

As it is, you have to be subscribed to STO to be able to have your patcher connect to obtain the updated client information. It'd be awesome to change this around so I can perhaps patch up prior to renewing my sub so as I don't spend the entire chunk of free time this evening patching my client, taking up time that I'm paying for. Make the patching process faster, release patches to be downloaded independently of the patcher, or allow patching to occur outside of the subscription cycle.

Probably the faster route would have been to uninstall your prior early game version, download the free demo and then do a fresh install from there. There were so many changes from day 1 to where we are today - there is probably a ton of file cleanup going on if you are patching a very early version of the game.

What's the difference between the free demo download and the standard download that's found in the support section?

As is, I had downloaded the client through the support link and installed the files obtained there. At the moment, I'm currently patching from a fresh install of the download found there. FYI, this isn't the pre-install where you're downloading all the core files, but post-install where you have access to the patcher which has the selection of either Holodeck or Tribble available.

Nothing significant, except on odd days when one of them is out of date (usually means the other one is coming and somebody just forgot to upload it).
