Phaser Beam Array Reward - Devidian 4

Okay, the episode rewards have officially hit their lowest point.

A phaser beam array?
That's the most disappointing one yet, at least for me.

I have specced Antiproton and this weapon is not suitable for me.

All the other rewards I kept, even though I would not be using them (well, I use the Triolic pattern enhancer and breed the tribbles, plus the Breen Tac and the Cryogenic Dampener).

But this reward doesn't even have that minor benefit.
I won't and will never use it no matter what, so it's worse then useless.

I'm considering deleting it once and for all.

I've said it before and will most likely say it again, they need options for these weekly rewards.
In this case, choose your damage type.

You found the TOS phaser beam array more disappointing then the cryo-grenade that only freezes allies? Really? :)

I was really really REALLY hoping for TOS hand phasers as the reward.

    Oh well. :(

If anyone noticed, they also changed the ToS phaser beam arrays you get with the Connie...so this is now the exact same item I can already get an unlimited number of....yay?

I suppose you can't expect great rewards for yet another mission with brain dead easy puzzles, but come on! At least make it something somewhat unique! Like a ToS photon torpedo bank, just off the hip there...if it had to be a ship weapon.

I could not even finish the episode as it was top quality rubbish.

I encountered 4 bugs in the first few minutes of the episode and the sound effects were horrid.

BO's that run around TRYING to follow you it is reminescent of the days when BO'S were unable to follow you because they were poorly programmed or worse.

Mobs that 1 shot 1 kill you and your whole group in 3-5 seconds.

The SFX were horrid ....lets copy TOS and place them randomly not caring that some of them are from the bridge and are iconic and not found in an engineering deck w/o people there to make them happen.

YEAH lets locks some Red shirts in a room...problem is that they can fire through the doorways.....love the logic there. Or that my BO's huddle around the doorway trying to get in....not listening to their captain to come with him.

Like I've always said......this weekly stuff is rubbish.

The nice thing about a company releasing a large expansion every couple years is that it has so much content that nobody can complain that much about individual missions or their rewards.

But these semi-weekly missions? Gives people the perfect amount of time to focus on and complain about everything.

If klingons get the same reward, that's kinda cool. But they could atleast have given it a different name from the Constitution one, so they weren't identical.
But then, you didn't really get an awesome reward with every episode in season 1, so can't really complain. Just hope the last episode reward isn't the aft phasers :<

Well *I* was happy to have it.

Ever since I started the game in open beta, I regretted purchasing my game in the way that I did. I got the TOS uniforms as part of my package, but didn't qualify for the TOS Connie. When the game was still new, we were able to "tint" our "lazor beemz" (whatever the specific type) any colour we wanted, and of course I chose blue.

Since then, the TOS uniforms have been given out free in several different promotions, but the Connie still takes "cash money" to get. Since I've already levelled up well beyond the TOS Connie's ability to compete.. I've never seen much point in dropping any cash on that.

When I got this episode's "∞" Forward Phaser Array, I was totally thrilled, and equipped it immediately. Had a blast taking on the True Way and Jem Hadar ships in the "fix the sattelites" mission... or more like, THEY had a blast.. a big blue blast.

Now I'm just wondering if we'll find a way to get a matching rear array.

P.S. Why were we using our 25th century tricorders?

Dstahl already mentioned that it's more of a themed reward then anything else. And once mission replays are in you can collect more of those! I just hope they ditch the ridiculous restriction on it and allow it to be equipped to the aft of your ship also. Imagine an Excelsior with 4 of those classic beambanks!

No award will ever suit every player in the server. Some players use Phasers, because they are TREK. Some use Disrupters, some use other Weps types, Tetryon and so forth. What counts for each type is where you, as an individual, use your Training Points. If you Train in Disrupters, then a Phasers Boost is not much use. It may be usefull to those who use Phasers though.

I really don't understand why people still keep complaining about stuff like this. It is a natural thing of every MMO that a quest reward simply does not fit everybody. The same is with Star Trek Online, we already got a few Plasma Arrays in older missions - which I never needed. But then I never got the idea about complaining.

In addition to that, the reward is meant to represent a classic TOS thing we can use, in this case a phaser beam array. It is a nice reward, especially for those who didn't get or have bought the TOS Constitution. By bringing in Antiproton or Tetryon variants it would simply ruin the whole meaning of the reward.

I really hope there will be a way to get more of those in the future, so all guys without the TOS Connie can get a full set of the classic weapons. Also I hope they'll do a red recolor to represent the classic movie phasers.:D

There´s nothing wrong with this reward i think. I prefer the Antiproton Beams with my VA Eng Char. But - the Classic Phaser Array is just cool and "Trek". I don´t like the look of the Antiproton though it turned out to be one of the most effective Beams in the game if you like Phasers.
Another point, these dailies are open for LT10. What use would a Special MKxx Antiprotonwhatever be if it´s for everyone. Since it get´s better with your skills it´s a fair reward depending on which level you are. Not a very big deal though but a nice reward anyway.

It would be really funny if you discover the only thing that can stop the comet in the 23rd century is the TOS phaser. :)

Makes sense. You don´t want to mess up with history timeline, do you? ;-)
Would be a great way to make a lot of changes in the game. Imagine, your appearance from the future is responsible for new factions coming up in the game timeline? ;-)

I certainly did. I have the TOS connie so I already have a blue phaser beam array that scales up as I level up. It's the only reason I even bough the TOS connie.

At least the bio thermal dampener wasn't in game in any way shape or form and it's FUN. I and my friends STILL get a kick out of using that thing.

As already said, YOU have bought the TOS Connie, even out of a reason which is most likely not even meant for. Many other didn't buy it, so now they also have a way to get at least one of the classic TOS phasers.

Well, I have a rating system based on how much I use the items in question.

    1. Breen Tac. Use all the time.
    2. Triolic Field Generator and Cryogenic Dampener. Use frequently.
    3. Breen Transphasic Mine Launcher. Kept as an alternate weapon. Works especially for me because i specced Projectiles, Mines and Transphasic Weapons to maximum.
    4. Cryogenic and Triolic Tribbles. Tribble breeding is my hobby, but aside from breeding one for "completion's sake", don't use these.
    5. Subspace field generator. Don't use, but kept in case I decide to use it one day.
    6. CRM 200 and Protonic Assault Weapon. Not using, but keeping in case the problems are overcome.
    7. Phaser Array. Will not use ever!

You see why it's the most disappointing one, at least, so far.

Now the hand phaser I saw the Starfleet officers using during that mission, that is something I would have wanted!
I hope I get one for the finale.

Well, it's a different principle there.

A mark V or mark VI plasma array, you're not going to use that long term.

But these weekly mission rewards are supposed to be "keepers", items you will and can use at any level (due to the level scaling factor).

To make only one kind of damage or weapon is likely to be frustrating, especially if you're not specced to use it.

Curious tho, the Connie arrays I have are worth 0, while the quest reward is worth 32. That indicates that it is to different items, no?

First, the TOS Constitution is ADVERTISED as having "TOS-style blue phasers that increase in effectiveness based on your level." If those weapons were not meant to be a selling point for the ship they wouldn't have bothered to advertise them. Clearly those phasers were made EXACTLY for what I bought them.

Second, Yes so happy that you got an item that you can use out of the mission BUT everyone that spent 800 c points on the TOS connie just got shafted out of a reward because again, this weapon is completely useless to us.

They could have easily designed a reward that EVERYONE could benefit from but this reward is useless to those of us who have the TOS Constitution and believe me, there are quite a few of us. There have been TOS Constitutions flying around since the game launched because that ship was originally a preorder item. After the ship was put up on the C-store there were even more people flying it, so it's not like it's just a priviledged few who have these phasers already.

They might have been coded differently in the programing BUT as far as the stats and visual fx go, they are the same exact weapon. They probably coded the ones from the connie differently so that they can't be exploited.
Think about it, if the ones that came w/ the connie could be sold you can sell them, decommission the connie, generate another connie and sell the weapons again.

Sorry to budge in, but those Connie arrays, can you also mount them on the aft slots or are they restricted to the front slots like the mission reward?

Yes, and you can get as many copies as you want. All you have to do is strip the weapons down, decommission the ship, generate another one, strip the weapons again, rinse and repeat until you have as many as you want.

    Incorrect

I bought a C-Store Connie for the blue phasers only to find out the Blue Phasers are for the Pre-Order only, not the C-Store.

I love these Retrofit Phasers and have equipped them to my defiant refit

    x1 Refit Phaser beam Array
    x2 Heavy Phaser cannons
    x1 Quantum Torpedo

    = AWESOME

Not to get off the phasers, but in the mission one of the eng peeps you talk to while on yer way to bones asks you "why are you dressed like that?"

I was curious......if you did the mission wearing TOS uniforms.....would they still ask you that? Would security still rampage on you if you looked like they did?

    I wonder.......

And yea....would've been better if we got a anti-proton array instead.....as it seems to fit the series theme for rewards.

Although there were a few glitches......it really wasn't all that bad.

You sir are incorrect, or have a bugged ship. I bought my connie on the c-store, and have the blue phasers.
