If, and IF the Romulans are added in game, what would be the possible Species?
I was thinking
-Romulan
-Reman
-Hirogen
Romulans should have 1-2 Special skills, they should have their own special class too, the Tal-Shiar Agent, which has a much more improved stealth field over the tac one, Also, they would have the lowest health in game, and have their own type of starship. Boffs are called Centurions, and There would be Hirogen Skins on the C-store.
This has been discussed numerous time before and yes we all came to the same conclusion that it would be romulan/reman/hirogen. Though I don't see why the hirogen are affiliated with the Romulans. They live in the delta quadrant and are nomads, they are subject to no one. If you'd ask me, I say stick to romulans and remans alone and pay extra attention to their ships, costumes, interiors, weapons, political structure etc
p.s.
I also really don't like the True Way idea, and cardassia being affiliated with the Dominion. I thought cardassia was for cardassians, they really came to that conclusion at the end of DS9. When I fight the dominion I want to fight jemhaddar dreadnoughts, not Keldon and Galor class warships.
I agree with what the races you listed but nothing else. If the devs were to design an entirely new class for the Romulans they would need to do the same for the Federation and Klingons in order for there to be balance. Lets face it, we have all we need with the current three classes: Engineering, Science and Tactical. No class can add more to that. Each of those three could have sub-classes. So your Tal-Shiar idea would be a sub-class of Tactical.
Anyway, they would be basically replicas of the Federation and Klingon faction. Romulan, Hirogen, and Reman ships would populate their main starship line. Any special skills would most likely be available to the Federation and Klingons as well in order for there to be balance. For example, Klingons can cloak their ships and certain Federation ships can do the same.

The Hirogen's actually extended into the Beta quadrant which is where they met the Romulans. Essentially the only reason they made a deal with the Romulans is because the Romulans allowed hunting in their territory in exchange for Hirogen support. Makes sense since the Hirogen are looking for more places to hunt and find challenges while the Romulans are now a fractured race after the destruction of their home world and they need support to keep their empire going.

According to the story of the game, Cardassia is for Cardassians. As a matter of fact the Federation is helpinng Cardassians. However a group of them who believe in the old way that Cardassia was run have broken off and joined the Alpha Jem'Hadar. They call themselves the True Way. Now the question comes in, if a Cardassian faction were to be added should it be the new Cardassia or the True Way? However that is a question that will have to be answered at a much later time since the idea of a Cardassian playable faction isn't even in the works.

I think that's a direction we should at least be thinking about. Why shouldn't there be various sub-classes that affect ground gameplay? Cryptic demonstrated that it is possible on the last weekly episode as various classes had slightly different options to complete the missions.

Given the fact that any attempt to launch a Romulan faction for Star Trek Online would require a number of other playable races to support it, I've wholeheartedly embraced this storyline. The Hirogen allying themselves with the Romulans? Sure, why not? It seems logical enough, and it helps to balance the Romulans against our existing factions. We have the Romulans, the Remans, and the Hirogen... The question remains, what other species could be added to the line-up to round this faction out?

For me that question has already been answered, I hope it stops with the 3 of them. I'm conviced now that the Hirogen will work well in the romulan story line, but do we really need another species? I know the klingon empire has Orions, Nausican and Gorn and Starfleet has really no limits but the Romulans are xenophobic.
We can allways kick Vulcan out of the federation so they can reunite with their ensisters and start a war against the federation. lol:P
Edit:
I looked at your avatar and then it came to me, the Tholians!
Vulcans. And not nicey-nice ones either. Some of them have to have found the souless self-repression of the Vulcan way tedious and annoying and wandered over to live with their more extroverted cousins.
Just focusing on the ship aspects, I dont think the Romulans needs anything special or new per say - all things being equal. However with that said, i think the Romulans should have all universal slots on every ship.
Then no one will ever really know just what they are facing and that would work well with the Romulan mystic, history and philosophy. After all, If knowledge is power, then to be unknown is to be unconquerable!
@spartan i think that the all universal BO layout would work really well. (lets just hope it won't result in too much whining from the KDF)
I was also thinking that Romulan ships should have lower hulls, but higher stealth numbers to compensate. This fits their stealthy overall style, and introduces some distinctive strategic demands on piloting Romulan ships when compared with FEDs and KDF.

I am not saying that sub-classes should not be allowed. As a matter of fact I would accept them. What I am saying is that we should not have Tactical, Engineering, Science, and a fourth or fifth class. However if we had something like Tactical Officer and then at some point in the game we can choose a sub-class such as Espionage and follow that path, then I would accept it.

Agreed. There must be other races that could align themselves with the Romulans. I would gladly welcome an entire new race as part of the Romulan faction.
Well, the problem with the rommies is that the Warbird didnt really employ any Engineering Buffs, just Sci-Tac, so i would do this
Escort-Mogai Escort Variant-Same as Raptor/Escort
BoP-Same as Klingon BoP
Warbird
4 Foward 3 Aft
Cmdr Engineering, LtC Science, Lt. Tac, Lt. Engineering, Ensign Universal
Romulans have a damage buff with Plasma based weapons and they move/fire 20% faster to compensate against phasers
Main problem is that Romulans dont like associating them selfs with anyone... they like to keep their dirty little secrets all to them selfs.... so I cant see the Romulans having alot of races involved with them to play...
The question remains, what other species could be added to the line-up to round this faction out?
As far as I'm concerned, all the cross-faction species should be available to the Romulans as well, joined Trill, liberated Borg Romulans (including a Romulan Borg Boff option), the Alien Gen system, etc..
It's also my opinion that with the Ferengi becoming a little more.. How should I say this..? Diverse, in their intrests (Nog, the Welfare programs instituted on Ferenginar, etc..) they should also be available to the KDF. (remember the House of Quark? Yeah, I don't see big opposition, houses that ally with Ferengi seem to find it advantageous..)
And lets face it, the duplicitous nature of the Romulans and the conniving instincts of the Ferengi are a good match.
So right there, we end up with Romulans, Remans, Hirogen Ferengi, Joined Trill, and the Alien Gen, not bad for starters.

Joined Trill are Federation and Klingon only... it should not become a universal race that you see everywhere...

Obviously I agree. I have several ideas for a Romulan faction (of which that is one - a big one at that) but I'm keeping them to myself until I see more about how Cryptic develops the UFP and the KDF.
Regarding the lower hull but higher stealth idea, as long as the inherent engine advantage is there I can see it depending on the degree for each class.
Main problem is that Romulans dont like associating them selfs with anyone... they like to keep their dirty little secrets all to them selfs.... so I cant see the Romulans having alot of races involved with them to play...
that's why I was against the idea of having a lot of different species within the faction
To think the Romulans would associate with the Hirogen is ridiculous. A nomadic band of savages who almost hunted themselves into extinction. Thats the dumbest match up I have ever heard of.
The Romulans would would have the Hirogen turning on each other in under a week and they would be extinct in a month.

Actually you've just listed the EXACT reasons the Romulans would be with the Hirogens. Romulans don't make equal alliances, they use thier allies.
the hirogen are strong, but easily manipulated. they have no real empire so they can never rise high enough in romulan politics to threaten Romulan control.
the remans were basically slaves.
any other spieces needs to be weak and incapable of challenging the romulan power base.
my vote would be a race of enslaved Holograms, or something equally bad.
something repugnant to starfleet's morals and klingon honor.
Agree with the use of manipulated allies. Concerned about mingling. Probably unavoidable, so must be carefully thought through.
Additional entry:
After some contemplation, it seems best to let allies start in their own area, Romulans in theirs. When mingling occurs, not long after, the environment should reflect such a mixture.
The initial starting area should give a hint of natural and healthy Romulan xenophobia, while later areas should indicate an intermediate interaction process, but only dictated by need.
( Note that the true purpose of allies is to let players create different character types in the context of this game. )
Bridge Officers should be restricted. How restricted is up to sensibilities, but unrestricted is obviously an complete outrage for Romulans.
( The player might be given liberties, but caution is still preferable, as to tolerate exceptions rather than the abandoned rule. )

Primary reason I don't like the idea of Hirogen in any sort of cozy alliance with Romulans, and for that matter, the Remens as well. Plus I think Remens are pretty lame in general. I know it's part of Trek lore now since that debacle called Nemesis, plus Enterprise, but I really don't feel they add anything positive to what was already a well conceived and powerful race to be reckonned with.

Sorry, but no. Romulans would kill off these guys rather than have any sort of alliance with them. The Hirogen hunt everything - that makes them too unpredictable and very unreliable for anything.

The Hirogen are not strong at all. They hunted themselves to the brink of extinction and are also nomadic. They have absolutely nothing to offer the Romulans.
They would see the Romulans and see prey attack them and be destroyed. The Xenophobic Romulans who see all races as inferior would see them as barbaric, weak and ignorant and unworthy of being fodder.
Don't forget a small science ship with a small crew. Which had some poorly trained and bitter Maquis. Isolated and alone with no support defeated them every encounter also saving them from extinction.
There is no way the Hirogen could stand up to the Romulan military or Tal Shiar even with their loses. To think they would let the Hirogen roam around their space is laughable. This goes against everything the Romulans are Xenophobic, Megalomaniacs who are fiercely territorial.
They might as well make the Ocampa part of the Klingon empire and the Kazon part of the Federation. Then make a Talaxian faction it makes as much sense to me.

The romulans did lose their homeworld though, taking that kind of "damage" to your empire might make you more open to making allies. The hirogen HAVE no homeworld (that i know of, feel free to correct me if im wrong) it is something they share. another reason to make allies of them ... (im personally a big hirogen fan so if they ever become playable ill be a happy man)

The Roumulans have a new home world they controlled a lot of territory.
The Hirogen just fly around attacking everyone they see.

People payed for them, and they paid for them to be cross-faction, for some, they were pre-order bonuses they paid for, for others, they bought them out of the C-Store. Either way, they should be part of every faction in the game. I paid for a lifetime Subscription, part of my reasoning for doing so was the Liberated Borg option for both factions.
If I get screwed out of a Liberated Borg Romulan when the RSE debuts, I'm going to feel cheated.
Also, what about the Na'kuhl? They certainly look like they would fight alongside Remans, and just because they become a force on their own by the 29th century doesn't mean they wouldn't be part of the RSE in the 25th.

No way. Talk about xenophobic! The Tholians make the Romulans look downright sociable.
Besides, I still hold out hope for an all-silicon-based faction: Tholians, Horta, Excalbians, Random Rock Monsters, etc.
