Show the STFs some love

Hey, so folks from my fleet and I have been running through the STFs for the last few weeks and having an exceedingly difficult time with them due to either improperly explained mechanics, or situations that are broken.

For example:

Rebecca in Infected, I get that the blue circle around you indicates that you're toxic to your team mates, but there's no explenation as to what triggers it attacking your team mates. I also understand that it's line of sight based, which is why we all hide in the alcoves during that fight. Honestly I find that to be an ironic thing to do given the nature of the mission as a whole, but still. I'd love to know what triggers the blue circle is, and what causes it to attack my team mates, I've stood still not firing a weapon or healing or creating anything and I still hurt them.

With The Cure my main gripe are the Elites. Once their health hits 75% they become immune to damage for what seems like 60 seconds, which is crazy when you're trying to defend the nodes. Granted, my team has used a method that involves long range combat, but it feels lazy and is not all that fun because it requires following a specific pattern with specific actions to get through. Which is great for a hardended group of people, but half the time I go in there I need s random person who just don't listen and fowls the whole thing up because he doesn't grasp the concept of team work. I'm not saying let it be able to be four manned, but seriously, these need to be revisited.

The third group of nodes, everything involved in this fight is tagged as "Borg_Beamin", so we can't properly identify the nodes, side from visually inspecting the target, we can't properly identify the elites, the heavy tacticals, the protos, etc, etc....

With Khitomer Accprds my main complained is that damned Tactical cube in space when you warp in. I'm a vice admiral, I've got strong shields and a science retrofit ship. That thing will neutralize my shields and fire one shot of whatever it shoots and destroy my 100% hull in a single lucky shot, three times in a row. Very frustrating.

Terradome has the all annoying coin flip portion, which is cool, but it seems the coin flipping happens at different rates and differently depending on whose watching. I've seen a coin flip when my team mate did not, and vice versa. I've stood ther efor about 5 to 10 minutes waiting for a coin flip, never seeing one, have a team mate come in, take one look and scan a person who dind't slip a coin. Not to mention the whole "Protect these engineers who all run out at the same time" thing.... Again, unless a specific tactic is used, it's unlikely you will prevail.

I am loving what you guys are doing with the Klingons, and I am loving your weeklies to death.

Honestly I feel the weeklies are one of the most important things you're doing. Any TV series to a game converasion should have some type of weekly. We watch a TV show that aired on a weekly basis, so we've all come to love the anticipation of what's coming on next week, hell you guys even managed to throw in a "Next time in this series" tid bit at the end of this last one to forshadow the coming event. I understand the need for production breaks and what not, and I hope those weekly episodes that kept us coming back to the TV shows remain in the game to keep us comnig back week to week to find out where the story is going now...

BUT with all that in mind, you've got a large population of people playing through the game trying to get to the end only to not properly understand the mechanics behind the STFs and constantly fail unless they find someone who can walk them through it, and they don't all visit the forums to find the best tips and tricks.

I know you're not going to wake up tomorrow and go "Here ya go, all fixed up for you guys", but seriously. You guys need to go in there we the tweaks you've made so far, and the new stuf you've given us and rejigger them STFs a bit so that they're a bit more understandable.

Honestly I would love to meet up with one of your devs one night and just play through Infected and The Cure with my fleet mates so I can show you the issues we run into, and how silly it gets trying to complete them.

I understand that they're meant to take hours to complete, but there's a point where if we're spending three hours on a puzzle that we understand but the encounter design is making it tough to get through then there's an issue.

I dunno, I'm sure others will come in here and say that I'm just a baby and that I have no idea how I'm doing it, but frankly if I'm having issues finding people to do The Cure or Khitomer Accords because 90% of the population can't complete Infected, or doesn't enjoy The Cure or Khitomer Accords then those missions need to be revisited.

Thank you for your time in reading Devs,....

Nope your complaints are very legit. While i understand the STFs are some kind of endgame content ( * )they are simply not in line what we see in the rest of the game in regards of difficulty. Every time we do one of the STFs ( ** ) with our fleet there are very frustrating moments. I don't need to list them, you've done allready done it.

Cryptic had one flaw in there design philosophy over a longer time ( its the same for Champions Online ) when it comes to endgame content or missions where you need a team of 5 players. The thow extremely though enemies on you in situations where you not only have to defeat this enemies, no they combine that with tasks you have to fullfill and if this would not be enough they set you under time pressure.

If only CC abilities like Anestezine Gas or other holds and roots would be strong enough to handle situations, but no they are terribly weak and break in seconds. And this all in a fast action oriented gameplay.

( * ) what means there should be some difficult situations
( ** ) at least we have beaten all STFs several times, except Terradome we only were there once

    *snip*

About the Kithomer Tac Cube what he does after neutralizing your shields is to fire a torpedo spread with 6 or 7 plasma torpedos, that means if you are in his focus you should get out of his weaoon range after your shields are down.

Well, I think the key part is what you said about people not listening. If you get a team that listens and doesn't just run around and agro things the STFs are fun. And in Terradrome all you have to do is leave 1 person at each console and you should be fine.
