Now I understand the whole cover shield thing in social areas. But I noticed that lately I have not been able to do my climbs. I used to climb the tower at Vulcan and the mountains on Andor. Now I cant:( I don't know if its something you fixed but I wish if so you fix it back. Example http://imagesfromlight.com/screen.htm "its really dark and blue" I think it has to do with the Andor sun;) But I really made it to the highest peek without cover shield. "not photo shopped" I am a tact. It took me over a hour that day with a lot of sliding and rolling. I did it because "it was there" Now I cant. Of course I jumoed down and it was a long fall lol. Dropped me to 1 health. Answered my question that you cant die in social areas;) But really I wish I could climb again. Hey don't make it easy just make it like you did before. "no cover shields"

Funny how Fed-vs-Fed griefing was acceptable, but as soon as it became Kling-vs-Fed on Drozana they put a stop to it.

The thing about Cover shields is that they're really good at blocking archways.

The thing about Drozana is that it had a lot of archways.

    Hilarity ensued.

    1. I was in my Klink toon (my highest ranked character) when all this was going on, so it wasn't a Fed vs Klink thing - someone tells me "go to another instance" followed by "are you a tranny" and I don't care what faction you are, you're being a jerk.

    2. Doesn't matter - point is it was a bad move and now all engineers with cover shileds are paying for it.

Great screen capture. Just wondering, where is the rest of the Blue Man Group?

Yes it is an issue that needs two threads.

The fact is, Drozana station needs its doorways blocked and its impossible to do with the latest patch. Now without the shields, all the roleplayers can get in and grief at will. Its digusting and has been a major turnoff for me.

Explorers should be allowed to explore.

I'll admit, I don't understand why someone wants to get to the top of a window sill, or a pile of boxes. But if thats your thing, you go ahead.

However the top of a mountain or the depths of an ocean or the farthest reaches of space, thats what star trek is all about. "Boldly going where no one has gone before".

I support all exploration that doesn't lead to griefing.

Yes this needs two threads, the first one got totally derailed.

Covershield was removed due to the griefers.

now we just need to get the other things removed due to the griefers. The ice freezing and smoke grenades and what not

Klink vs Klink griefing was pretty horrendous. Being someone who has multiple characters both sides i found the CS griefing to be the worst on Qo'nos, worst in terms of hardest to get around.

One of the nicest things about being klingon pre season 2 was that most of the idiots only played feds. now the idiots play both sides.

Why do the doors in Drozana Station need to be blocked?

    How do Roleplayers grief others?

As someone who explored areas in WoW you weren't actually suppose to go...

I have no problem with this. Some places on a map aren't designed to support players but players can exploit their way to them. I have no problem with Cryptic preventing this. This isn't TF2.

So let me get this straight...

You want Cryptic to put back something that was being abused by griefers... just so that you can continue exploiting glitches and going where you should not be?

That makes so much sense.

Once again Cryptic rectifies a serious griefing problem as well as fixes a glitch.

Yes a glitch, people using the cover shield to go where they should "not be", have no right to complain.

Caitians can get into those places without a cover shield and they are not a glitch. So how was creative use of a game mechanic a glitch again?

Except the game was never designed to factor in Catians in the first place.

My point is you its unreasonable to expect the devs to go back and restore something for a use it was "never" intended for.
Especially when doing so would mean griefing.

As I stated in the other thread --

This has ZERO to do with "Getting into areas you're not supposed too"

CS was removed, 100%, due to griefing. Everyone knows it and thinking overwise is just crazy since piwright said, caitians can get into high places and it's not a glitch.

Instead of dealing with the certain people causing the problems (which is always 2 or 3 of them never hundreds), they took the more extreme route and lobbed off a skill for those that were having fun with it.

It doesn't matter if you AGREE or not that using the CS to climb things was canon, or content or RP -- People used it for FUN. That is the point of the game.

The griefers should of been smacked, not those that use these things for fun.
now we just need to get the other things removed due to the griefers. The ice freezing and smoke grenades and what not
And thus starts the "Lets just get rid of all combat related skills" argument destroying any fun :( (Note: I said combat related skills I did not mention the freezie pop grenade)

Most people are climbing up on things so they can grief with those stupid Breen Thermal dampeners.

They need to restrict them from ESD and all shared stations if not just just rip them out entirely.

Most people using CS since day 1 didn't use them to grief. Again, it's only a small handful that are. It's the logic of
Destroying the object causing a problem, thus eliminating the problem, instead of dealing with the problem by handing those abusing it.

Which, I don't deny that. HOWEVER by that logic then that extra 14.95/month those few griefers make is more important than the happyness of hundreds of players?

    Horrible logic :p

Maybe Cryptic should reexamine those stupid horrible instances rather than get rid of covershields exploration potential.

I've never been CS griefed, and frankly you shouldn't be altering -powers- over griefing in non pvp. That's what the Request GM help button is for.
