Allow me, in my infinite wisdom, to offer suggestions about the grouping of both stuff AND things in ESD to improve the quality of life for ALL!
THE SHIP THINGS ROOM
This room is dedicated to ship things, contrary to what the name suggests.
In this room you would find:
- The ship store
- The ship selector
- A ship-customizing Bolian
- Ship info terminals
- Ship repairman
- Mark and Emblem traders for ship things
THE GROUND THINGS ROOM
This room is full of stuff pertaining to the ground and ground-related paraphernalia.
In this room you would find:
- The BOFF seller
- The BOFF trainer
- The TAILOR
- The person-healing medical officer
- Mark and Emblem traders for ground things
- The respec-er
THE ECONOMY ROOM
Not a cheap room in a hotel, this room is dedicated to things involving money and trading.
In this room you would find:
- The Exchange
- Banks
- Mailboxes
- Vendors that sell equipment for credits (as opposed to Marks or Emblems)
- Commodity brokers
THE HUB
The hub is the room directly connecting all others, making it easy to travel from one to another. It is centrally located, encouraging spontaneous gatherings and riots.
In this room you will find:
- The Admiral's Office
- The Transporter Room
- Observation decks (allowing for easy spitting on those gathered below)
- A door leading to the Stateroom, which gets its own regal and impressive instance
- Another door leading tooooo......
THE SOCIAL ROOM
The social room is the go-to place to go to do things that involve human interaction as well as hew-mon interaction. It is cozy and separated from the rest of the station to protect RPers from themselves and others.
In this room you would find:
- A Ten Forward-style bar
- Food replicators for food
- Poker, and (insert games to be added later)
- Holodecks (and possibly future spandex sports rooms with rainbow glowy things and rules waaay more complicated than is necessary)
- Klingon opera (MELOOOOTAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!)
NOTES AND BASIC QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS
To be applied universally across time and space (to the world of the Mighty Booooosh)
- Vendors shall have those tabs that separate items into relevant categories to vastly reduce the number of vendors to look for!
- Vendors and the like shall be color-coded for easy intuitive recognizin'... selling items related to their field: red shirts will sell weapons, guys in yellow will sell engineering things... etc!
- The Fleet Ambassador will hang out in the Admiral's Office maybe!
- Help Tips shall die in fire!
With regard to the exterior, when the devs do "Blow it up" and all that survives is the section that the current interior fits in.
I feel it would be nice if, in conjunction with a weekly episode series, we get to see a week by week construction of the new Starbase. Starting of with the new frames going up and then getting more detail added as the weeks progress.
After the final week, when all is finished on the exterior, we would then beam in to a different "deck" which would contain the new interior layout. This would allow us to continue using the existing interior with no loss of functionality while the new interior is being built.
Now i have typed this it has given me a great weekly series idea.
The antagonists, call them Faction X for now, plant explosives on both ESD and the Great Hall on Qo'noS destroying them and you are tasked with the investigation. The missions are handed out at the factions home base so a weekly visit is required where you would witness the reconstruction efforts.
DStahl, can we possibly get a pretty image of the new(Original) Space Dock Exterior?
I hope so....
I want to be able to fly my ship right into ESD...just like in the movies....I want to be able to see ships coming inside ESD just like in ST 3......Yup, that'd shut me up for a while
Very ambitious list of changes. I would not expect to see a major redesign of the interior of ESD for several months.
Of all the changes in ESD etc, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us the option to turn off tips. It is beyond annoying for me to run past someone in ESD on my way to something else and get a TIP pop-up that I have seen a thousand times already. I simple check box added to the pop-ups "don't show this tip again" would go a LONG way really. If you want to make things better in this game, THAT is one of the things you really should consider adding (as well as a way to re-enable tips in controls section if someone wants to be able to do so).

Oh I see, pulling a Scotty there. Giving bigger estimates so you pull off the miracle worker.
Since you previously mentioned changes to ESD, I thought up some ideas and I thought that a Transporter room similar to Memory Alpha would be a really nice thing. Pass through a fairly large double door, then come into a half rotunda with a huge bay window in front, showing the interior of ESD with a docked ship at the gantry.
Information Kiosks on either side, ramps on either side that leads up to the Admiral's office on one side, and Administration (Bridge Officer Training / Recruitment)
The Shipyard ends up part of that Docking Gantry which you saw from the bay window, with the docked ship. (So you can walk around it and get a shocking view of the size of starships, simlar to that Youtube Video of the Enterprise-D).
Well thats my take. Could be interesting interior for future Starbases at least.

Wow this actually sounds like an ok idea....I just posted on another thread stating that it would be just sillly to change ESD with no story driven reason....but this idea sounds pretty good atm.
Seeing a new ESD being constructed each week would be awsome....and the new ESD should somewhat retain the same size as the current tbh....makes no sense to make a now 25th century ESD to be smaller....things like the main starbase need to accomodate many many officers...
ship purchasing list needs improvements. for example, when you are trying to buy a ship in the store... the list of ship types (i.e. deep space science vessel, fleet escort, planetary science vessel, etc) the icons next to them should show what type of vessels are in that class. or at least provide the information in a tool tip. it seems kind of clunky having to go from the store to the ship list (where the holograms are) and back to the store just to make sure you got what you are looking for. the information should all be readily available to you up front during purchasing.
The rumor I've heard is that the existing interior will just have minor tweaks (signs and door changes), but the exterior model will be replaced. (Star Trek III "Mushroom" perhaps?)
