Vor'cha skin and future ships

I have a real problem with the Vor'cha's new skin's being in the C-store, and I have a serious problem with any future Klingon ships' being in the C-store. I understand that the extra funds will be helpful to Cryptic in developing more content for everyone, but until the factions are evened out (at least 3 skins for EACH type of ship at EACH tier normally available and 3 VA retrofits available via an in-game given promotion token), Cryptic has no justification in putting these things in the C-store.

Please, Cryptic, tell me how you can justify putting the Vor'cha skin in the C-store when there are still SO woefully few ship skins available to Klingons but such a plethora available to the Federation players?

Custom skins have always been C-store only. Each of the "regular" T5 ships for the fed side has a "custom costume" so why would it be different for Klings?

Yes, they have fewer options. But if their business model is to pay for art by charging a nominal fee, then that's their business model. Be glad the Vorcha retrofit is available for cash/RA tokens, and not 1200+ C-store points like the fed versions.

It's not at all unfair to ask that they give us free ship skins since EVERY SINGLE Federation ship minus the C-store/retrofit ships as 3 default skins, and all but a couple Klingon ships have only one.

There's a whole thread about this already. :) Bottom line is that the KDF will never be even with the Feds. That decision was made long before the game launched. Cryptic will give the Klinks some catch-up content, and fill in a little here and there when they can, but they expect Klink players to pay for the fluff items just like the Fed players do.

At this point in time they just can't divert a lot of resources toward making free fluff items for anyone. Priorities have changed from "get it launched" to "keep it running and keep the majority of fans marginally happy." The Klinks aren't the majority. Maybe with the new clusters, Pi Canis, and hopefully Klink Foundry content, more people will play the faction, but until then Cryptic needs to focus on pleasing the majority of its fans over the minority. In simplest terms: you please the 3/4s of your fans before the 1/4 because if you end up losing one group you prefer it to be the smallest.

Okay, don't divert a lot of resources; if it's 1/4 of the fans, divert 1/4 of the resources. Or even a smaller amount. "Catch the Klingons up" at a slower pace, but catch us up. God help us when they release the Romulans if they can't/won't even get the Klingons up to par.

Since the game launched all new content has been for both factions or entirely for Klinks. GA, both. Fluidic, both. Weeklies, both. Klinks got exclusive episodes, clusters, and are getting exclusive Pi Canas episodes with Season 3. I would say that an additional 25% of the resources have been going to the Klinks since launch.

I'm not going to worry about Roms and what might happen a year from now. In this economy, where MMOs are going under, I'm just going to focus on the here and now and hoping baby-steps are enough to keep this game alive from month-to-month. :)

I suppose you have a point. I'm still irked that the Vor'cha skin is in the C-store, but I guess I should give credit where credit is due; Cryptic has admittedly, given the Klingons a lot, and things more important than ships. I still think that skin should be free, but oh well.

Also, consider the new skin as a testbed for how much people want Klingon fluff content like skins. The skin is relatively cheap at 240 CP, or $3 USD, so many people can afford it. By seeing how many people are willing to buy the new skin, they can determine how much of a demand there is for this sort of stuff and allocate resources accordingly.

Edit: Disregard above, the price is 160 CP, $2 USD

The Vor'cha skin is only 160 CP, or about $2.00. :)
