Yeah... I really miss that ship tier. That was my favorite set of ship parts of all time, those escorts. It's really too bad that I didn't get to know her better. I think I was through that block of leveling in a couple of evenings worth of play.
You know what would have fixed that, Cryptic? All together, now:
Ship Retrofitting!
Yes, Cryptic, it would have been so nice to have the ship I fell so deeply in love with remain viable options by giving them higher tier stats with a Refit command. Make it costly if you want, make it take both energy credits and merit if you really feel it's necessary, but for the love of pete don't make me say goodbye forever to the ships I commanded when I was young!
Saying goodbye to the ships you commanded when you were younger is just part of the evolution of a ship captain. I'm sure Picard missed the Stargazer greatly but eventually he had to get that big, clunky, smelly Galaxy. He can still dream of that Stargazer, though, and pretend that even with an upgrade it would be as good as the Galaxy; though in his heart he knows that could never happen.

I don't think Pircard had much choice in the matter considering the Stargazer got blown up. lol

Well it didn't get blown up, as we discover later. And he could have asked to be reassigned to another Constellation class ship and named it Stargazer A Asking worked for Kirk and the Ent-A.

It didn't blow up, but it was pretty much gutted. It was recovered later, but the damage it suffered and the fact that the Constellation-class were pretty much on the edge of obsolescence anyway, it's unlikely Starfleet recomissioned the Stargazer.
Back to the subject at hand, I'm not a fan of the Rapier, but I love the little Ushaan. It's one of those ships that I wish we could upgrade along with with our player characters.

He had to beg to regain command of the Enterprise in TMP (which was still the 1701 (no bloody A, B, C, D, or E ) at the time). The 1701-A was basically a demotion for Kirk for his actions in Search for Spock.

you know what else would have fixed that more content and slower leveling.
