I don't remember Picard ever running; though I do remember him hopping over the rail on the bridge once. :)

Yeah ... apparently they're changing the way running/sprinting work.

What realy concerns me is that the normal speed (non-sprint) jogging was also changed.
It now has a rubber-spine compression thing going on. Yet, from the posts I've read they are saying only the sprint was changed and have not acknowledged the spring-spine issue with the normal speed trot.

It's not as bad on the male model, it seems to be up around the shoulder blades and less noticable.
On the female model it's a lot more pronounced and down around the lower back.

Yet it gives the entire model from there up a bouncing kind of weird look that is not visually appealing in any fashion.

Bottom line for me is I don't care how 'accurate to life' the animations are, as long as they LOOK GOOD.

The new jogging and sprinting animations DO NOT.

"A few years ago, I watched a freshman cadet pass four upperclassmen on the last hill of the 40 kilometre run at Danula II - the damnedest thing I ever saw; the only freshman to ever win the Academy marathon. I made it my business to get to know that young fellow, and got to know him very, very well. And I'll tell you something: I never met anyone with more drive, determination and a spine at a 90 degree angle than Jean-Luc Picard."

I have no idea how it looks on a male, since I only have female toons. However, on women it looks AWFUL! Someone somewhere on these forums likened the new sprint to a TRIBBLE monkey. I happen to agree with that statement. Why fix what ain't broke? I want my old animation back ASAP.

PS I don't care if it's part of the new ground combat system. Put it in AFTER the rest goes live.

    So i didn't imagine this?

I am pretty sure they turned the wobbling animation 180° arround, this surely was ment as a jiggle TRIBBLE animation but cryptic flipped a wrong switch again and now the back jiggles instead....

Mhmm... I used to be looking forward to the ground combat changes. Now? Not so sure... ;)

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

"There is an entire host of new run/sprint/walk/backpedal/etc animations that are in the works so that ground combat looks more realistic.

Only the sprint was checked in and the concern is that the female is leaning over too much during the sprint.

In an upcoming update we are changing run so that you can always sprint (instead of the cooldown sprint you have now) and then adding a new burst run which is what you are seeing now.

What you are not seeing in this build is the new "run" animation which looks very much like the old one.

    So for example

Trotting along... you can go into run (the old sprint) and leave it in run... then you can also do a short burst run which is this new animation you are seeing. We just haven't hooked up the new run yet.

And contrary to speculation - these are not champs animations - we have our own animation set."

    THIS

Devs, please change the animation back until or unless you make something that actually looks asthetically presentable and appealing. I realize this is (supposedly) just the tip of the iceberg with what you guys are working on, but what we have now is pretty awful.

If we are going to make some changes to Running and Sprinting, can I please request that we include Skipping?

Honestly, the spine springy-ness doesn't really bother me anywhere but on my Klingon character; his spine armor looks silly compressing like that.

The bull rush animation is more... obvious. It looks fine on my Fed Tac because, hell, if he was going to run balls-out, that's what it's look like. But on women and my Klink, it just looks awkward.

Funny cause they look an awful lot like Champs animations... (I'm not referring to you Ellri, but to the quote)

That's funny how the OP made the football comparison cause it all started with us chunking grenades like how a lot of girls throw footballs. I hope the guys at Cryptic aren't Cowboys fans or eventually you'll only be able to complete 1 out of 6 missions..... :D

You know ... I noticed on my Gorn toon his shoulder pads move in a bad way with the new sprint.
Makes it look like some weird heavy fabric flopping back and forth. They get stretched way to far in one section at what would be the toons physical shoulder joint. No doubt the extended arm movement has lead to an exagerated shoulder pad stretch where it wasn't designed to stretch that far.
