Holy wow! In my opinion best mission in the game so far, maybe one of the best missions ive played in a computer game. I loved it. 10/10
The interior of the station was awesome from faulty wiring, to broken lights, traps, to dead crew members, to optional mission logs, to swing chains. The atmosphere was perfect.
Not everything too place on one level, and felt like a station rather than just a linear path all on one level.
I loved how your class had an impact of mission.
Pop up box's are a great way to convey information without breaking up the mission. excellent job!
Spooky voice overs for the win!
Tough boss battle room (could have down with a closer re-spawn point)
Tons of great dialogue.
Really nice length mission, not too short or too long.
Optional mission goals again excellent.
Again loved the whole thing, even without a space battle which is my preferred mode of combat it was still awesome. You have risen the bar on that one. I cant wait for next week.
I agree. OMG this is the best episode so far. I loved it. And talk about great ambiance, dark, decrepit, spooky sub-levels of an old station. It was great. The VO was also awesome. Man i'm having a hard time complaining about anything in this one. The only thing i can think of is that emergency beacon. I liked having a flashlight and a situation to use it (finally) but it wasn't very effective, and i lost it when the mission ended.
Overall outstanding job for the Halloween episode. I can't wait til next week when i go back in time!
i like the mission. its abit more horror filled then id expect from star trek, and thats a great thing . i thought it was a little silent hill/ fatal frame esk type mission with the flash light. i was expecting a somekind of demon or something to pop out. and cheers for the spooky voice
I love the scene where you start to go down for the core and you turn the corner and there's a flash of light and you see, like, 30 Devidians floating in the hallway. And then it goes dark and they're gone, and you know you have to walk through that hallway to keep going down, and you're expecting an attack any second. The whole atmosphere was great, from the unexpected spiders to the dropping grate; and the voice-overs just blew me away!

Man, when that army of devidians showed up i went into full panic mode, then you realise they are just there to make you jump. it was brilliant.
I am stuck on the Eidolon. Every time I get him to half hitpoints he heals fully. I cannot get him past half at all. I have tried flank damage, the proton rifle, my other weapons, all my abilities. It appears to be impossible to take this guy down and I have been at it for 15 minutes now just fighting this one single guy.
I agree 100% with the praise for today's episode. I'm not a horror/ghost movie fan in the least, but the mood you guys have set for this latest series, as well as the timing are perfect, IMO. Nice job with the "ghost" boss too - I was like "OK, what the hell is this gonna turn out to be?"
The atmosphere was fantastic, really tense and scary all the way through. Both the spooky voice and the "army" of Devidians made me jump. Great work here. Plot line was also good. Absolute Kudos for this mission, and I have to agree that it's certainly one of the best in game.
there were a couple of minor bugs that I'd like to report... First, on occasion the flashlight beam would fail, displaying only the light texture rather than actually lighting an area up, however, this was fixed on most occasions by following tech support 101: Turning the device off and on again
Second, the optional goal to bypass the stuck door on my engineer was granted only AFTER I bypassed the door, leaving the goal uncompletable for me.
They're the main bugs I noticed. Last little bit of feedback I'd like to give is on the final room boss fight... I was playing on advanced, and personally, I had problems with the combination of the Eidolon and the Phantasm. Both of them have an AOE health drain attack, which drains for a significant amount on advanced (let alone what it must do on elite). If they both pulled off their drain either at the same time, or within quick succession then my poor BO medic couldn't keep up with the healing, generally leading to a wipe. With the phantasm's phased move attack that zips him around all of your team members, it was almost impossible to keep the two mobs separated to prevent a double suck. This lead to a few wipes and no small amount of annoyance after what was othewise a great episode.
As a final note, I honestly recommend binding a walk key for this mission, really soak in the atmosphere by having your captain walk around, rather than run. Here's how to do it for those that don't know how. To make a toggle walk button enter the following in the chat window "/bind (key) ++walk" without the quotation marks and replacing (key) with the button of your choice.
[edit] Oh, and as a final final note... I want my flashlight back! that thing was awesome.[/edit]
It was a really good mission but not better then some of the KDF missions but it was good.
Only thing in this game i dont like is the damd camera that keeps rushing in towards your caracter every time
it hits a object wall etc. That should have been taken care of a long time ago.But other then that nice one.Wonder who from the past we will get to meet.Hope its Kirk . And i did enjoy the little VO in the mission.
Man, when that army of devidians showed up i went into full panic mode, then you realise they are just there to make you jump. it was brilliant.
I nearly **** myself the first time lol, maybe it wasn't a good idea to play this with low room lighting
and I liked the insane (close enough) Hologram, and I'm just wondering if a Dev did the voice lol, loved this part:
"Bonnie-kin, Bonnie-kin, All dressed in Red. Bonnie-kin, Bonnie-kin, soon you'll be Dead"
Good Redshirt referance lol and why did I decide to wear Red on that mission lol
Not sure if my light worked (tho I read it might be that my settings are too low), I just thought it was a random thing that now and then you might get a dead light lol
The atmosphere and tension it created was excellent.
I blundered around quite a bit trying to find the right places to go, but that seemed appropriate.
I found that by continuously using my OverWatch it helped to illuminate the darkness better.
I freaked out when the hallway full of Devidians appeared... I ran back and got setup for a fight and then had to creep down that passageway... waiting to get jumped...
The first relay I found got me shot in the back and totally surprised... then the second time I was all setup and ready and got a few spiders instead... excellent use of mis-direction and fore-shadowing here.
The Devidians seemed well done and at advanced difficulty were very deadly... but I had no full team wipes before the last room.
The Insane Hologram was truly awesome and well thought out.. the voice over was excellent and the murdered crewman really added an unknown element to the mission while the log entries were a nice touch for filling in some plot devices.
The last room was a little frustrating at first as I was getting whacked before I could really get inside...
I realized that I needed to activate the computer core or something and changed tactics and then it was not really a problem.
The Proton rifle seemed to work "OK" on run-of -the-mill Devidians, but a lot of times the High power beam was not being displayed or my attack was disrupted or something. Could be a video card issue.
I would have been much happier if the charging time on this rifle was faster... it did not flow well with my normal combat rythym and felt awkward. It seemed to me that my Anti-proton Split Beam Rifle was more effective against the Boss and Phantasm's because of the firing rate.
I can't think of any other Mission that had this amount of depth and detail and can't find any real faults with it at all. I would rate this as a 10/10 on the Cryptic scale.
Great mission, even on repeated plays. I liked that different classes get some different options.
Small Klingon side issue..on 2 different characters, I had BOs get stuck behind opening doors; also my captain got stuck in the door that slides down to trap you, which required re-starting (w/ 15 min pause).
I finished the mission on one KDF char with only one BO...fortunately it was a Nausican who single handedly took out the Phantasm after I went down. o_O
Take him out last. Something else is recharging him, and if you leave him for last, he dies real nicely alone.

AGREED, SINGED, SECONDED, all of that. Whoever wrote this mission, give them a raise and have them teach all the other mission designers.
I loved the deep lore and lots of harward tech
The class specific paths were also full of WIN WIN WIN!
The voice over REALLY added a nice touch and made it more interactive.
I love the rogue hologram as a villain,
Unraveling the mission details via random logs, very fun and the dialogs were written like a horror movie.
Bone chillng sound effects also cool
Nice use of pew pew, wasn't boring at all and the villians were tough.
Best mission EVER on this game.
This is the template, build off of it and improve!!!!!
The ONLY change I would make and it's minor, would be to have the spiders more randomly placed like real spiders, or have them attack you when you come close to a body they are munching on. A minor point. But this was a bowl full of awesome.
I enjoyed the episode, but I thought it was just too damn dark. I understand the need to establish atmosphere, but when it's still too dark after I changed the brightness on my monitor, it's a bit too much. Please, remember not all playing this game are eagle eyed young folks. LOL Otherwise, outstanding job Cryptic.
I noticed when the voice called out for "Bonnie", shouldnt the "-kin" have been "-Kins"? Also, the flashlight doesnt show on your BOFFs or the bodies. Otherwise, the mission was awesome.
When you run up against an enemy that can kill three members of the party in three seconds it gets a bit ridiculous. I'm stuck at the core while I wait for 15 just so I can bump the difficulty slider down and hope i can kill that damned ***** down there. I got down to the phantasm and the eolosion (spelling?) and the eolosion keeps draining three of us at once and fully healing himself in the process, two of us are guaranteed to die only if my medic isn't one of the one being drained, other wise its a sure KO for all three of us, ****ing ******** is what that is. I can't even burn the phantasm down before the eolosian drains us. For reference this was only on advanced.
Other than that though bloody awesome mission, though deranged hologram was rather easy to work out from the character image in the logs, its flicker was a dead giveaway.
I had issues with the lighting at times as well. I wound up using the map for parts of it. The map is a good idea of where you need to go to get to doors.
Gatness got my only issue with the episode. It really needed a closer spawnpoint to the computer room, if the ones there with the phantasm can TPK so quickly and easily.
I was gunna make my own thread for this mission but this one says it all. Loved it. Everyone has already said it and i'll say it again. Dark corridor's +1. Spread out objectives across multiple levels of the station +1. pop up text bubble that don't interfere with game play +1 (would like all text during combat to be like this please). Awesome sauce flash light +1 ( Please can I haz it to keeps forever?) Continuation of existing story line while simultaneously having it's own mini story +1. Class specific options that affect the mission path +1 +1 +1 ( one for each class )
going into that more: wow, loved the insane holo engineer. I was guessing right up till the end. First I thought it was one of the ferengi trying to cover up his illegal shipments (the locked turbolift) then i thought it was a murderer who had taken up residence on the station and was using the Devidians as a way to cover up his own murders. Then finally the true culprit was revealed, loved it.
Bosses posed an actual challenge without going overboard to insane ( yes i'm talking to you advanced and elite ground missions ) and was alot of fun getting lifted in the air and lifetapped, I kept trying to shake my camera left and right to 'resist' it.....but my attempts were all in vain.
In closing: Cryptic STO Team, thank you. THAT was what story missions should feel like. Simply awesome!
PS: those are not 'bad graphics / glitches' the characters that are blacked out in the comm windows are done like that for 2 reasons; 1) the engineer reports are written by the culprit, can't spoil the story by showing you the villain's face ahead of time. 2) when talking to your ship, there is alot of interference and you are not able to get a clear signal - I fit right in to what the bridge officer was telling me.
STO team: you get 11/10 for this mission. yes, your missions go to 11, because making 10 better just isn't good enough =p
Take him out last. Something else is recharging him, and if you leave him for last, he dies real nicely alone.
Even with just him, it took me over 45 minutes to finally figure out how to take that stupid Eidolon down with my Science Vice Admiral and BOFFs. My DPS wasn't enough to overwhelm his 100% vampiric healing ability. To kill him I had to take all his minions out and then get as maximum range. If I was close in at all with my team he would heal to max every time even when he was solo. I got randomly lucky to finally kill him. I paused the game and was moving my BOFFs around again to figure out a way to get even more flanking damage. In the process I moved all of my team out to max range. Apparently at max range he can't vampiric heal and we took him out fast. Very frustrating to fight him for so long to beat him from sheer luck. Some NPC or something you read should hint at a viable tactic for defeating the Eidolon. The Phantasm at the end was a joke compared to the two Eidolons I had to fight. The Phantasm I just pounded on a while and he fell, never healing once. The Eidolons were healing machines.
I am going to try that long distance tactic on a few more of my characters as they do the mission.

loved the flashlight
loved the spiders
loved it all

I admit to having a small panic at that moment!
What a great episode/mission. Absolutely enjoyed every second of it
Its a trap!
loved the dead redshirts..
Me too. I was like holy @#$%!!!! How am I getting past this? Then they went away. After that, I went down that hallway expecting to get jumped.
