It most certainly was. I didn't see that kind of immersion & atmosphere coming, tbh. I've said it elsewhere too, but they have outdone themselves again with this Episode.
I'm having the same trouble, the flashlight is in the Captain's tray, and I and use the power tray to turn it on and off. The icon in the tray changes, but there's no light from the flashlight.

What are your video settings? You might be set too low, or have lighting turned off, and so it doesn't show up as working. I really don't know. Seems like a graph card issue more then a system issue, though.
If something is too dark for you you can also change the brightness in the video setting to lighten it up some and make it easier ot see for you.

Messing around in the settings it appears that postprocessing has to be check marked on for the flashlight to work. I definitely like the effect now that it's working.
Everything was very well done. The Environment, the mood, the plot, the cra...plot twist. You even sucessfully startled me the player. And pretty much have narrowed down who the bug guest start is going to be next week. The year is one clue. The other clue is the one body turned face up. If you know your trek lore, you get the clue.
Edit: Oh if you want teh full effects of the mission. Play late at night, room lights off and the sound going though a good speaker systems if you can.
Edit 2: With another bit of out of game info, I think I know exactly who next week's guest is.

I just finished the mission. I took my time and examined every little nook and cranny. Love the voice over work. Love the surprises around every corner.
You may not have noticed if you played solo, but there are class specific, optional objectives in this mission.
I noticed. Love the career specific objective. Great work! Kudos to the team!
Minor nitpick: The extras pretending to be dead keep blinking their eyes and looking around. You need to get some digital actors that can play dead better.
Well being a veteran of "horror" games I can safely say this didn't startle me in the slightest (no games do at this point) however it was still very enjoyable. I found myself thinking I wanted it to go on and on. The plot twist (which I predicted so it wasn't surprising) was great too but again, this being possible the best mission out there I didn't find myself wanting it to end like other ground missions.
This is the first time in a long time that I enjoyed every aspect of a mission. The content was fun enough that the normal ground battles weren't bad. If all the content and stories were this fun the grind would be invisible.
I tell you, the only thing that was "meh" to me was the boss which we've seen before. I think the Hologram guy should have been the last boss and greatly buffed.
I thought it was awsomme. Definatly one of the best mission yet. The only gripe Is as Im using a ATI card, I could only use the torch with dynamic lights on, then when the devidians showed up I had to turn it off so the battle wouldnt crash.
Teamed up with some of my fleet members, I played a Tac officer, and had 2 Scence players and 1 Engineer player with me, plus 1 tac BOff. We took the Proton weapons with us and I gave my team mates Triolic Tribbles for extra protection.
So we got to complete all of the optional tasks for our professions, and I had to tell my team to slow down so we could read all the dialogue, and it was well worth it.
The script was the best written yet in my opinion, so big thumbs up to Heinig, Thompson and the rest of the team!
The only thing that bugged me was that dialogue would pop up around the same time the Devidians would.
The bugs (critters) were a novel addition to the mish, interior was EPIC, the new FX and SFX were incredible, giving this mission the best atmosphere yet!
The small waves of Devidians were cool, the discovery of the person who was murdered was awesome, especially so due to the creativity involved in how and why. The BOSS near the end surprised me and my team and wiped us out, but we quickly re-spawned and got our act together, that part was a great challenge.
The flashlight was awesome, but was sad to see that after beaming up from the lower decks of Drozana, that it was no longer equipped or in my inventory. So headed off to K-7 to get more info, talked to Franklin Drake (twice) and discover that I'm going back in time next week, and that we can not attempt diplomacy with the Devidians because they think of us as food. LoL
Jesse Heinig mention on TTS channel that it is intended that we do not get to keep the flashlights, due to a environmental FX issue when a number of players use them at the same time.
Totally awesome episode! Thoroughly enjoyed it, and I am glad I played with sound on.
(Bonnie-kin!)
The only thing I have to say I feel disappointed about is that we didn't get to keep our little flashlight drone after it was done. I was hoping it was another 'bonus' item for doing the episode.
Other than that, though, (and that is such a minor nit-pick, really) I think this is my new favorite episode of the whole game. Kick-TRIBBLE first mission, jheinig!
Forresto,
I think You got the right group of people. But that's not who I think it will be.
SPOILERS IN BLACK.
The year of the port is 2265. That's the first years of the Enteprise's 5 year mission under Captain James T. Kirk. And the only face up body, if te one in the room with the Devidian Portal in it. It's only the west side of the room. The body have blue shirt with a fery distinct patch on it. In the 23rd Century Starfleet crews all way the patch of the ship or base they are assigned to. That ships emblem on the blue shirt was eventually adopted as the official Starfleet emblem in honor of the heroics of it's captain and crew. That ship being the USS Enterprise 1701 under Captain James T. Kirk.
And my call it's as to the guest star of the past is going to be Spock.

Excellent work, STO team!

Spiders (TRIBBLE yeah)
Creepy Voice over
BOff talk coming up in small windows rather than the big pop up
and my personal favorite
the inclusion of TOS sound effects in the computer core area (a small touch, but awesome)
There's more but I don't want to waste time writing them out. Gotta run my alts thru the mission.
I AM IMPRESSED!
note: to the people having trouble with their flash light, mine didn't work right away, when I got the first spider ambush it started working.

I will cut off your head and feast on your bones!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I want my mommy!
Yep, I noticed and I soloed it. I was able to reroute the hydraulic's on a door instead of finding another way around.
Definitely noticed this in solo. VERY nice addition.

Oh, I noticed that, playing my Tactical on the first go. Great touch to an Epic mission.
Highlight the black
Is it Scotty?
I agree. Great mission. Give us more of that.

Still, 9/10.
Bonnie Kin, Bonnie Kin, soon you'll be dead.
