How is it possible ...

to get 70,000 damage in a pvp and be in EVERY kill. I'm Tac in the Excelsior refit. When I enter battle, whatever shield facing my first target has is gone ... guaranteed. I've got BO1 & 3 firing off every 15s. WTF??

Turret ships are likely to do this.

The 360 degree arc means they can participate in every kill but their damage will be minimal (especially if they're running on low power).

I'm running a dual beam, beam x6. no turrets no cannons.

I regularly have a low damage number but i'm pounding out BO all the time. It is not uncommon for me to see 7000 - 12000 for a beam hit. I've also got a tricobalt in back and it can deliver 2000 - 92000.

    Is only certain damage counted?

remember that BO consumes weapon power. The higher the BO, the more it takes. In addition to the standard beam power consumption, if you hitting several beams at once and popping BO 1 and 3 back to back, you may be consuming more weapon power then your ship can keep up with.

After hitting BO, beam fires for a few seconds are going to be weak until you power builds back up. Several beams is going to lengthen that recharge time. Consumption vs recharge. In PvP that's an eternity, or at least enough time for another player who doesn't have that disadvantage to get an advantage on you.

I had no idea you meant your own damage.

There are a few conditions that could cause:
    • Damage is calculated before beams and some torpedoes visually hit. Your teammates could've fired first and all but killed it and your blows "Finished Him!"

    • Total damage during a match has decreased after the RSP nerf. We shouldn't be seeing anymore seven digit damage totals anymore.

Have you played anymore more matches since? It could just be a fluke caused by the above.

Yeah, I"ve been playing all evening and been hitting the low- to mid-100k. Once I managed up into the 200k but I consider that a fluke because it was a slaughter fest. 5v5 and each of us took separate targets after melting the first wave. (Which by the way I find VERY unsatisfying from either side and look forward to some kind of ranking system to prevent said debacles, but that is a whole other rant.).

Addressing the power issue: I have my weapons preset running at 121/95. BO only uses 50 power regardless of the level I, II or III. Each time I fire off a BO I also pop a EP2W. It's only 1 but it gets the job done.

I dunna get it captain. She should be firing on all thrusters. Then, like you said, it may be just a run of poor timing.

It may also be how you are doing the damage. I don't know what all your numbers are, but you may just be getting high burst damage, with very little sustained. This could then cause a lower amount of damage overall.

My excelsior build does a lot of sustained damage, but very little burst, yet I regularly top damage, even against many escorts :)

Was the fluke an arena match or a capture and hold match?

Arena. These poor folks were your classic PuG. They didn't work together and obviously weren't correctly spec'd. Each of us were able to isolate an individual and take them down ourselves.

    My thoughts:

1 - You play regularly with an escort or two regularly. Your alpha/beta strikes combined with the escort alpha/beta strike are effecient and effective, allowing for a kill with lower damage points.
2 - the target is quickly overwhelmed and your damage or the combined damage outperforms the targets healing
3 - the BOv crits often and again damage outperforms healing

-Not true. I've had 2 matches since the RSP nerf with damage in the 7 figures. They were agains a premade and a very well organized PuG.

    You mean partially true.

Total damage has decreased since healing should have decreased as well.

You are right, however, that it's still possible to get seven figures but it's a lot harder thanks to the RSP nerf (and good riddance too - RSP was out of hand).

Remember the damage and kill stats are not related in anyway.

Kill just lists how many ships you damaged that got killed over the run of the match.
You could have 30 damage and 30 kills, if you somehow manage to damage each only with 1 point.

True that, i forgot all it takes is participation in a kill, some % of damage. Though I've found if I have only fired a few shots at an almost-down target, resulting in a kill, i don't always get the kill count.
