Is the server having a seizure since the patch?

I dont know what else to type to be frank. I have wasted the past six hours trying to get form place to another and am hammered with rubber-banding nearly every five seconds like clockwork. Then about every four to five minutes a server failed to respond message for up to 15 seconds clicks off. About every fifteen minutes I get booted.

I think the patch played havoc with the server to say the least.

    goto start -> run
    type cmd

    type tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com

    look for anomalous ping increases

also make sure your antivirus hasnt suddently decided STO is a trojan, and than your brah isnt usin all your bandwidth

Hmm... The LA, Denver, Chicago, Cambridge hops are all 200ms+ as well as Cryptic's IP. :(

Maybe I'm missing something here but why would I need to trace the route to the patch server when the game is squirrelly after the patch?

If it was the server it would be squirrely for everyone. It's more likely something on your computer, your router, your ISP, or some sort of failure on the route between you and Cryptic.

Constant rubberbanding and disconnection in all areas indicates either massive packetloss or abnormally high pings, which isn't likely to be cryptics fault in this case. (200ms should not be high enough to be a problem. 400ms would be more troublesome.)

If you are only experiencing these problems in SOME areas in STO (i.e. Earth Space Dock) than its probably cryptics fault.

If you could post a screenshot of your tracert that would be ideal.

    Same here.
I had 1and a half months of perfect gameplay with maybe a little lag all 3 or 4 days .
Then after season4 i had very short messages of server not responding every 2-5 minutes.
After todays server maintenace i experience "rubberbanding" (nice wordplay :-) all the time, server not responding for 1-2 minutes and entering unknown systems takes minutes where it was seconds before...and when i am finally able to beam down to some planet to investigate or fight all the enemies and anomalies are underground where i cannot target them.

my system settings are untouched and i am not downloading tons of data while playing .
Maybe i have to move from europe to u.s. to play nice and lagfree ;-)

That's nearly a year of lag, chief. Not sure moving is going to help much, lol.

Seriously though, even on this side of the pond things have been pretty rough since Season 4. Lag knows no international borders:(.
