Ok so I see around Cocoa-jin, TheGrandNagus, Kinjiru, KOS (though he uses his CO screenname), Tribbler and I got a PM for LordDave the other day. I'm sure there are others around too that I'm forgetting, but we should form an Old Timer's club. Anyone seen KO_Gilligan, Hagon or even Lokeii?
It goes fine. I was playing for awhile, but championing things on the forums got to me. I needed a break. I am a lifer, so no problems there.
Been doing RL stuff, console stuff, following other Betas, and many other things. Time I checked back in this game.
It is too bad about Hagon, but I sorta saw the "writing on the wall" there.
Loekii, as far as I know, he disappeared just before Open Beta and I haven't seen him since.
I know KO_Gilligan popped up again after launch. About a month or two, but not sure where he scrambled off to since then. Heck, I've been gone for....3 or 4 months? I did hear Zinc left and that was sad, in my usual way, still figuring it out, but he might've "burnt out" like I did, but that's a guess on my part.
You'd be surprised. It certainly FEELS like we are old-timers!
No doubt. Some were "here" long before the forums were opened up. Many came over from the "not to be mentioned" previous studio that had the license for a number of years.
Anyway, in general I consider five years a good mark of distinction for "old timers" of any forums.

Yeah I took a break a while back myself. But I do hope in and play the weeklies now that those are up and running.
Yeah Hagon was finished with STO the moment the PvP-centric Klingon thing was announced I fear. Ironically Loekii was a champion of that idea, but has not stuck around to tell us what he thought...
I was sad when I heard about Zinc too, nothing against Dstahl, as I like what he is trying to do, but Zinc was a fixture from when we still had PC bridge officer debates. I can see how anyone would get burnt out though developing a game in such a short time frame.
I dont think the website has been up long enough to consider anyone an "old timer" yet, let alone the game.
The Fact that we have stuck it out since launch while so many others quit in the first or second month I think definately deserves and old timers pat on the back!

...huh. Y'know, I don't think I've seen any of the forum posters whose names got put in as freighters in that one mission in a long time, either.
The site has been up for two years, if not more. See my join date.
Same here.... I'd say the forums have been up long enough for an "Old Timer's Club". It just doesn't feel like it because the game's only been online for 7months
Edit: It's been LIVE for 7 months. I wasn't taking into account the Open and Closed Beta of which I was a part of too

So what's Dave's opinion of things these days?
I don't know Dave's opinion just yet, haven't had a chance to talk to him really, but I'll see if I can talk him into coming back and letting us know. I know I'd like to hear what he thinks or even if he is back playing.
So in this Old Timer's Club what do we do? Do we sit around complaining about our aches and pains, reminiscing about the good old days? Do we express our lamentations about current ship design while wistfully dreaming about the beauty of the ships of days gone by?

All of the above as well as a new spin on an old classic. We complain that we are all Admirals (Generals) and yet they keep us stuck in ship duty instead of putting us behind a desk where we really belong

Being aboard ship especially during wartime is not unusual for an admiral. Nor is participating directly in warfare an odd thing for a general. However, the idea that the admiral would be in command of but one ship instead of a squadron or a fleet is odd. I would imagine the same would be true of a Klingon General.

Oh you're preaching to the choir here on that one. I was just playing with the cliche of Old Admiral Kirk angry that they stuck him behind a desk. I figured the Old timers would like to change things up a bit
So you been thinking about the past well i was her e9 months before i signed onto the forums when we had the old forums and even then been waiting for this game since 2004 so do i count as a old timer

When I saw old timers club I got excited. I thought this was going to be club for people who grew up thinking the most famous captains of a starfleet ship were named April, Pike, and Kirk.

Well I did grow up on TOS and later then TNG came out when I was a bit older and more involved with watching TV.

I may be mistaken, but Hagon got into it several times about (of all things) the lack of Klingon content. Caused him to lose his forum priveledges (banned).
Sad, he was one of the best the Klingons had to offer. Never met him in STO battle, but we duked it out many, many times in the forums.
I can go back to my earlier posts and see tons of players that are no longer with us.

As did I. For me TOS was where Star Trek was Star Trek, the subsequent series were just fillers to hold me over until the next TOS film.

That doesn't surprise me about Hagon. It is unfortunate I know he, I and Loekii really ended up in some ugly debates about the state and future of the Klingons.
I know it is sad to see all those old faces that we debated with long ago now gone. I hope some come back in a few more months. There is a great deal of potential her that I think the Devs will tap into.

He quit when i was in BoK, and almost all of the fleet left for EvE-Online
Yeah I figured he quit. Too bad, he had some decent ideas for the Klinks.

Agreed. Come October 22nd, I'll have been playing STO in some form for a year. (And that IS 'old' for this particular MMO at this point.)

I certainly remember seeing your face around and especially in the beta boards iirc.
Well I for one would jump on a Rommie alt in a heartbeat if they deliver a Romulan faction worth playing. Good to see you are still around.
