I think that the Targ, available to Klingon faction should be a debuff pet. Make it active during combat and who ever it is "attacking" recieves a debuff comparable to the Tribble buff. The Targ does no damage* just inflicts a debuff. I would suggest a variety of Targ pets as well that could be "breeded" in similar fashion as a Tribble.
Initial Targ pet Debuff: To target - reduction to heals, damage and resistance
Bred Targ 1 - reduction to damage output
Bred Targ 2 - reduction to resistance
Bred Targ 3 - reduction to heals
Bred Targ 4 - reduction to heals and resistance
Bred Targ 5 - reduction to damage and resistance
*Bred Targ 6 - Applies a DoT (Like the combat Targ)*
*Targ of Borg*
*Fluidic Targ*
The targ pet target is the same as the master so if you switch targets the debuff leaves the first target and is then applied to you new one. The Targ from the C-Store (Deluxe Edition) would be a purple item, the bred ones would be white except the Targ 6 is a blue.
Unlike Tribbles, Targs will not eat anything and everything possible only certain foods should trigger the breeding effect. Primarily the foods that say Klingon!

Sorry, as a Klingon warrior, I do not agree with this. I would not like this at all.
I'm not sure. It just seems un-Klingon. I know I know, they are in the game, but I don't like them either. If I may ask how much a Klingon player are you?

I have 4 Characters that are klingon but have only got one upto BG my second is about to make Captain then I have one LtCmdr and one pretty much just started.
I play both sides regularly so I see both faces of this game pretty well.
I would also like to see the Federation Klingons able to use Targ since they can not get the effects from the Riv Tribble.
Since no Klingon Faction Character can get the Riv Tribble is would bake sense the the Targ counters the effects. I don't think the Targ needs to deal damage the debuff would be enough but it would appear that your pet is part of the fight as it runs around from target to target.
I would also suggest that a Targ would override a Tribble buff so if a Klingon player used a Fluidic Tribble then pulled out a Targ they would lose the Tribble bonus.
It just sounds so Un-star treky. I dont know, it's just not my thing. I wouldn't use it in game.
If Klingons get the Targ pet for Combat then I want to be able to throw my Tribble down an enemies throat so they breed inside their body until they explode showering everything with guts and hundreds of tribbles.

I think you're missing the point! The Battle Targ would simply counter the effects of a Tribble even though it may appear as if it was helping in the conflict it would not actually inflict any damage unless you were able to breed the Rare Targ.
Like with Tribbles eating your food the Targs would consume food for the breeding process and like with the tribble the foods would have to rate the same i.e. Targ 1=Blood wine, Racht, gagh, or grapok sauce OR a combination of said food items. Targ 6=Quadrotriticale or Heart of Targ. I actually like the idea of it costing you upto 3 food items to successfully breed a Targ one of those items always being a bottle of Blood Wine!
Although the breeding of Targs may feel out of "play" for most klingons I think that the title "Targ Handler" could be awarded for breeding all six or making it hard and by chance to breed the sixth variety that making one earns you the title!
I would also suggest that all seven have a different color scheme then the others much like the Tribble varients. DStahl wouldn't you love to have a Targ named after you too?
Yup - we always wanted Targs to be something cool for the KDF. Whenever our lead system designer gets a breather (he's currently making a bazillion ships) he may find some spare time to work on this. We also have other costumes for Klingon pets made and ready for him to hook up too. So much to do and only so many hours a day.
Yeah a battle Targ would be awesome or if you want something more Klingon then a Monster Dog in Star Trek 3 that you see Commander Kruge petting next to his chair.
Problem is people often get the Monster Dog confused with a Targ ones a Timberwolf/lizard the other is a type of wild boar.

Yep a Targ improvement is needed. Joined a Klingon fleet the other day and the subject came up that Feds get buffs from their Best Buy Tribble but Klingons get nothing from their Best Buy Targ. Typical.

it would be a start if Targs and those Gorn Dinosaur thingies dont attack me with their rear end ;P

I so know what you mean Sir, but at least you can say you love your job! I really hope to see what is to come with the Targs!
Yeah, I have a couple Klingon characters, and 3 fed characters... and I was always a little put off by the fact that my targ pup does nothing. Saddest of all, is the fact that not only does it serve no practical function, but also RUNS AWAY when any battle begins!!! At the very least it could stay and growl menacingly... or TRIBBLE on my enemies! LOL Just SOMETHING!
A battle targ would be pretty freakin sweet. It could run up and grab enemies arms (Not doing any damage) preventing them from attacking, or their legs and doing an immobilize effect. That would be pretty handy! Or even just add a passive increased expose.
Hmm, some nice ideas here - also looking forward to a "battle" targ, or just exchange the Tribble of Borg and Fluidic Tribble into Targ options for IKF players.
That would be a good start. Also the added expose effect is nice thinking.

Much appreciated to know this. While I can wait patiently for this feature if you need any ideas I'm sure many of my fellow Klingons can help come up with some.
Likewise if it is not too much trouble is there any possibility of the Gorn getting something similar like their NPC handler counterpart? Of course this would likely be much further down the line, but something to chew on.
Also:
Klingon Attack Tribble...thrown like a grenade. Infinite charges, as long as you have food.
lol thats like that other guys idea of stuffing down the throat!
I did notice on my Bridge from the Carrier Pack that you have a full pack of Targ! A mother with pups umong others! What if you could get a Targ Handler Kit?
Trag Handler Kit Mk VI, Mk VIII and Mk X Very Rare
Summon Targ: Creates Level xx Targ for xx Seconds (Phaser Turret)
Summon Targ: Creates Level xx Targ for xx Seconds (Lunge Attack)
Summon Targ: Creates Level xx Targ for xx Seconds (Hyperonic Radiation)
Summon Targ: Creates Level xx Targ for xx Seconds (Seeker Drone)
Could be a Universal Kit to KDF (Maybe include the Saurus) The Targ would be as usefull as the skills noted to them i.e. CD, damage, etc. Like the Turret and the Seeker Drone though any and all Targ can be targeted and killed.

Klingons should've had Targ Handlers rather than Science Officers IMO, would've been way more fitting in the KDF
The KDF has Science and Medicine they are just much more rare! But if they make a Kit that is Universal then it kinda makes a Targ handler thier own class.
Personally i am rather for a more ballanced distribution of offensive and defensive capabilities among classes. With attributes like strengh, perception, vitality and dexterity affecting your precision, avoidance, movement speed, health and perhaps even damage resistences.

Maybe you should hire some temporary interns to help the guy out. I'd love to intern with you guys to help out while gaining programming experience. Would be cheaper than a full time person and would help distribute that workload! Win win .
Also controllable targs with different costumes would be awesome .

They could do like a very rare kit that lets you control a targ and its unique to Klingons. Fed's could have an equivalent unique with a different mechanic (a special skill or maybe even a droid pet ).

Honestly I think this could be a uniquely KDF item. Maybe it could be racial too but I would also offer saurus kit for the Gorn. It could entice more to play KDF and be something other then a scantly dressed Orion female.

much like the skill phaser turret, it could have a different level depending on the teir you choose.
i'd love to see this come to fruition.
