I'm not sure why this is, but with some uniforms, TWOK, TNG and DS9 in particular, I am unable to get a true black. The closest I can get on those uniforms is a dark grey. Yet the same square in the color picker is true, or at least truer black on other uniforms, like the 'new' 2409 versions. Can we get this fixed? I can't get my pants black, or any pieces of my uniform. Its rather annoying, especially when someone walks by with a different uniform, but a much darker black on them...
They managed it in Tabula Rasa, it was more 'as dark as you can damn well get without losing all the detail Black' but it worked. Also, 'black' clothes still react to light with reflections, highlights etc depending on the fabric anyway so it wouldn't make the clothes flat necessarily. I agree it'd have to be done carefully to avoid the loss of texture detail though. It can be done pretty well though.
Also you can already get a dark black on some clothes that works, but what the OP is saying is that it doesn't work on some other items, i think.

I don't know about the other two, but I have noticed that Black on the upper portion of the TNG uniform is in fact not-so-black. I find that if you select the same Black coloring for the pants it's actually darker; you have to go up a shade lighter on the pants to match the top.
Exactly. On the Wrath of Khan it doesn't look so bad to have your (normally black) stripe across the chest and down the side almost black, but more gray. But for uniforms like DS9 and TNG, which have large sections of, what we've always seen as black cloth, the closest you get is this semi-darjk gray, which really jars with the entire uniform, largely because we're so used to seeing it with black on TV, and then we see this...gray. It doesn't look right.
