how about intead of making players (mostly tactical officers) take self heals because they cant fit other abilities in (due to the fact that having more than 2 in most cases is a waste)? i mean the only things that make my cruiser having 7 engineering abilities is if some of them actually stick.. and my heals can only fire off every 15 seconds so i can really only have 1 "friend" per match that follows me around because i protect them...
how bout i can use the same heal ability multiple times in a row but not on the same target? something...
or am i confussed and are cruisers really just ment for PvE and lore purposes?

But if not then if you get to reuse your heals multiple times just on diffrent targets then I get to use all
my nifty DPS skills as much as I want as long as its on a diffrent target.

You're in a cruiser, the thing is specialized for healing. I don't really get what the complaint is.
I get that not everyone wants to heal all the time, but that's also how you tank in this game, and if you aren't going either for endurance or healing then you'll get much better use out of a different ship. Sometimes I set up my cruiser for DPS and skimp on the heals, but the fact that you'll have better healing than any sort of escort without even trying is a big part of why people pick cruisers.
If you want to be able to heal multiple targets, take multiple heals -- that's part of the balance. You can still do good sustained DPS while healing if you alternate your power levels (use your aux heals together while your aux is high, then use stuff like Engineering Team and Extend Shields while you're focusing on weapon power; Aux to SIF has such a short cooldown that using it while you're at low aux won't kill you as long as you're sometimes shifting to high aux and using it alongside some of the Science heals).
The problem with letting cruiser skippers heal a lot of players with only a few heals is that you can already heal a lot of players if you focus enough on healing that your offensive power suffers.
ok in the begining of a battle with equally skilled players i can fire off 1 heal per ally and be fine with that. but the dps is just far greater than 1 or even 3 heals can manage... even with skills distributed to heal. and i do like to heal... its a diffrent kind of play and in space is still entertaining. plus i always get groups. but i have to use all my heals to help an ally which leaves me dead... and i cant heal and cloak... so if i stay far enough away i can heal and avoid most combat that would kill me but i do zero dps and everyone complains cuz "im not doing anything"
so if im going to be a healer how bout my heals go noticed, but oh wait dps hounds are only paying attention to doing damage and that my damage output at the end of the game is in the 1000's maybe 10,000's... thats at vice admiral. so then i have no protection and i am forced to solo... which a healer cant do...
so again i say not eps thats a buff... but heals that can heal hull and/or shield strength that are group targets... i mean if i can only heal at a rate of every 15 seconds and the damage skills are on the same cooldown then for balance shouldnt my heals be equal to your damage...? but i dont want balance your right... i want fun. so i guess i should make a tac officer and fly an escort like everyone else...
i mean balance would be cool in the sence that if you went in as a fleet of escorts vs a fleet of cruisers it would be a stalemate... so it would make the battle about who messed up first... not ooo i got 23k damage n u only got 5k heals.... or worse HoT's that last so long u get to fire again!?
a fleet (pvp group) should only need one healer... mayb 2 and a sci ship for diversity... but when 5 escorts beats everything thats not cool.
the only thing that i think makes being an engineer worthwhile is the fact that..... well i mean i already payed for the game...
