Rare particles

I know DStahl has pretty much said for now they are vendor trash (other than the accolade), but I was thinking of what you could do with them instead and to kinda kill a few birds with 1 stone.

Why not have them be used in the Sci Mini game and make the sci mini game on your ship(it already has the space for it) and to top it all off, I know a lot of people complain about the holo emitters and the short time frame for all that latinum.....why not use the rare particles as a way to recharge the holo emitters.......the mini game will determine the length of the the recharge, say anything based from 5min to 30min.

Anyway, just some food for thought.

They're just vendor trash? Aw, man!

I thought for sure they would be used in some uber crafting recipe!

the term vendor trash states they are worth something to the vendor, they arnt so they are just trash.

I've posted about this several times over the weekend.

These were intended to be unique, so the fact that you are getting multiples of the same 10 particle traces is the bug.

Once you acquire the 10 unique particle traces, the accolade Trace Tracker will be awarded.

There is no other purpose to these particles other to offer the accolade as a reward for playing the scan minigame. These can be safely sold or destroyed as these traces should be considered vendor trash.

We plan to add future memory alpha missions that will key off whether you have the trace tracker accolade!

Guess we will be freeing up a ton of space. So I assume that if some new rare anomaly comes out that is used for crafting, then they won't use these ones. Going back on their word would make a bunch of ticked players.

    lol, sooooo true :D

That's why i'm hoping that they might consider doing something with them, not to toot my own horn or anything, but I figured with at least this idea, they would serve a purpose, it would give ship interiors functionality and would make holo emitters more worth getting.

We will take this as an opportunity. These were really meant to provide an accolade for using the new mini-game (since that is the only way to obtain them) but there is obviously more we can do with them.

I'll have one of the designers look at these ideas and perhaps we can incorporate them into a future crafting mission.

The new anomalies are truly pointless and only take up space in my inventory... the accolade is TOTALLY LAME AND AWARDS ZERO POINTS... can some one tell me what the point was? Maybe I missed something?

Now that I think about it... this is exactly the point many people have been trying to make... why put something in the game that truly does absolutely nothing? why even bother if there is no benefit/effect or anything else?

If there is any chance that they may have future use, please have the item guy make them stackable sooner than later,

    Please,
    Pretty please,
    With sugar on top

yeah if they might serve a purpose down the line, then i'd rather just keep a stack of them in the bank.....but they would need to be made stackable.......please :D

Stackable... there are 10 of em. I have stacks of the 18 others as well.
If they are vendor trash then thats fine. But if there is going to be uses then thats great (and I'm all for it) but it will be yet one more (actually 10 more) thing in addition to the 18 regular research mats and 12 Commodities cluttering up my inventory.

Its good that you guys are going to make em useful but some additional inventory space would be nice.

Please make them stack-able to give me an excuse to collect them for any possible future implementations. Barring that, let me sell them to Vendors for a Premium. Even better let me trade 100 of them for 100 Cryptic C-Store Points.

If there's no reason to keep them, then I'll dump them...but if they're going to be spendable/useable somewhere, I'll keep them around...as long as cryptic MAKES THEM STACKABLE

Hey Dan, just want to note that is not entirely true. I've gotten the rare anomalies by skipping over the minigame twice now. I've been in a rush for something quite a few times and hit F to skip through the minigame (even if it is super easy). So if that isn't supposed to happen, you may want to look into that to.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume they're not stackable because their only purpose was to acquire an accolade. However, it appears there's plenty of support for the idea of these being useful at some point in the future.

Could we get either a definitive

"Yes, scrap them as the the rare particles used in any future crafting will be different than the accolade ones and will stack"

    Or

"We'll look at incorporating these into a future mission and will make them stackable as soon as practical."

I'm sure I'm not the only one who abhors the idea of tossing away something semi-rare and of value. I'm still kicking myself over those handful of 72% food items that I ditched prior to knowing they had a use for tribble breeding...

Thanks for keeping us in the loop! :)

Please just make them stackable, and maybe reduce their occurrence rate a tad back to it's original or even lower...then save them to be a special thing you need in order to craft Purples down the road...

I understand that Crypic have their hands full with more than enough, but it baffles me that these were added with no further purpose, and it transpires that there are currently no future plans for them.

I mean, what, i have 6 rare items that are worth absolutely nothing? and are never to be used anywhere ever?

If thats the case, then i'd rather the dev time go into other areas like memory alpha or a new tierless ship system.

    If however you're taking suggestions for future expansion for these (and as mentioned by some other posters);

    -Holo-Ship upgrades
    -C-Store trade in
    -Aid planet / diplomacy options
-in mission bonuses (e.g. a nebula causes shield damage unless you use one of these)
    -tier 2 consumables
-purple crafting (each one give TRIBBLE% increase in a purple item being created up to a cap, different combinations allow better % for types of bonus)
-a "break down" system where i process it and it spits out TRIBBLE random lower elements
-add "upgrade" slots to items (that these either plug into directly or are used to craft the items that are slotted)
-further minigames for processing (these could spawn new in-ship missions where the element becomes unstable, or attracts another race who needs them, or 1000 other options!)
-gather enough and it opens up a new area because the mass opens an unstable worm hole and sucks you in or spawns a new mission from starfleet or any other random race
-fleet perks (more bank space, etc)
    -starbase construction
    -ship construction
    -pet construction
    -BO upgrades

i mean, the worlds your oyster right? use your imagination... you dont need to do loads all at once, just get it set up where you can add one item per patch and in 3 months there will be an epic amount of new things resulting from adding these new drops...

PS: i'll take any that people dont want, dont trash them, mail them to @maawaa, you never know!!
