1st my pc's stats;

Intel i7 920 quad core 2.66 mHz
Dual ATI Radeon 5770's in CrossfireX
6gb DDR3 RAM
windows 7 64-bit edition

The problem I'm having is these weird grid patterns on everything.

What setting is causing this? I have all the video settings completely maxed out. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    That could be caused by overheating or faulty hardware (graphics card)...

    Yikes, that looks very much like the memory of one(or both) of your GFX cards is going byebye.
    Hope I´m wrong. :(

    Semi-related, but is STO using CF for you/what drivers are you using? Might be worth checking temps (MSI Afterburner or GPU-Z) as well.

    Also, have you turned off AO/DoF? They can push the cards to fairly high temps (are you using framerate restrictions?)

    The pc is less than a week old so it's not the gpu memory going bad. I had AA up too high, once I turned it down a bit it looks fine, lol

    Just because it's less than a week old it doesn't mean the card couldn't have been faulty. Did you check out your temps? It's entirely possibly the cards were overheating.

    The temp has never gone above 24C. It was anti aliasing, as soon as I turned AA off it was fine

    My my, 24C? What are you using to cool your card, your imagination?

    Either a peltier cooler or liquid coolant in conjunction with a freezer. Maybe both, probably the latter.

    Seems a waste to put something like that on lowend gaming GPUs though, when you could have not bothered and got much better cards, especially as he doesn't seem to have an OCed CPU.

    I meant lowend for gaming. When building a gaming PC a 5700 series is the lowest recommended unless you are on a really tight budget/buying similar but older card.
