game controls idea

good afterrnon all, ladys gents and cryptic. i have a suggestion for games controls.the idea is to allow us to control every optional button press via any Gboard or Zboard or saitek type flight control joystick.

no use of macros via these button controls should be usable to stop auto play, thats a given, but for the gboard and zboard allow us to click every control to which button we wish, this goes for gaming mouses too. if it has an imput on our pcs allow us to keybind to that button.

onto the joysticks, allow us to have advanced options in space controls for x y and z axis, if people dont have the specific joysticks with all controls for these axis they will still be able to play through the game as normal of course just in the advanced it allows for greated imeersion in the space game. allow for throttle controlers on joysticks to control thrust levels on the ship, for those that dont know what i mean by that they are the lever systems you find on some joysticks and flight sim controlers where you can push it up or down for a specific throttle grade and level.

if anyone has any other ideas along these lines or wishes to expand upon this idea feel free to join in on this post, thanks for reading, shing out.

also before i forget, is it all possible to have it setup so that mines are no longer classed as torps for firing weps, have a seperate allocated button for release mines. and also can we have another option for fire forwards banks and aft banks of weps, people can stll use the fire all weps control but some one us like to have the option to not and fire specific weps at specific times so as not to clip wep recharges and when using mines we dont want to be clipping mines with torps and want to have a specific button to release mines and not have to click the mines only on the ships weps interface.

OP - Have you fully explored the Controls tab of your Options panel? Ya know, the one that provides 2 different ways to perform certain functions, give commands, issues control inputs, etc?

And pardon me, but I have to ask this - why are you asking for Cryptic to give you the ability to program your programmable gaming keyboard? Shouldn't you have the software associated with your programmable gaming keyboard that lets you tailor every key on it to do what you wish it to?

the game or my game wont see g keys, i am unsure it it see zboard or not but it will also not see the g keys on my mouse, so even if i make macros and asign them to keys i cannot assign them to g keys. also there is no option within the game to have one button fire different types of weps, you have fire all beams, fire all torps and fire all weps, what im asking is for the game to see extra keys on boards and mice and to allow us to use flight sim type joysticks on the space and full intergrate the controls from them onto the game.

and its doesnt matter if my board has the software or not, if the game doesnt register the keys i can press them till the cows come home and nothing will matter.

I don't know anything about your board's driver and utility software so I'm guessing here big time.
Can't you set the input on your zboard to mimic a specific regular keypress? Like pressing key A on your zboard sends shift+1 keypress or something. Afterward you can binds commands to the keypresses you set up earlier.
There is a good chat window command to check your input devices:
    /InputPrintKeys 1
It writes every registered input to the chat window.

no doesnt work like that, i wish it did though, g keys are logitec products gaming profs, u get them on mouses, keyboards, joysticks, handpads etc, they are extra buttons assigned specifically for gaming as they are designed with games in mind, the pads are mostly used for fps games so the whole controls that are normally scattered across a keyboard are in one direct place like the old pasonic ball controls from the early 90's, the mice have upto 7 buttons so you can do nearly everything whilsyt still using the mouse and not havin to keyboard jump/click on stuff. the g boards have 1-28 keys extra on them, example my board is a g11 so i have 18 g keys extra up the side of my board, these can be used for many purposes, main ones are time delay macros which i dont really use it for, but there set up in banks so that everything is quick access and doesnt constrain normal keyboard use. they register keystrokes that you use and auto assign that macro to that key.

but on sto the game doesnt see you pressing the keys on the mouse or the keyboard thus making them useless on sto as they cannot be used. what im asking for is that these keys and products are usuable on sto, the other thing i was asking for is the split between wep uses within the main keybinding options as there is only 3 sets to chose which is fire all weps, fire all torps or fire all beams too fire all weps, fire all torps, fire all mines, fire all weps on front fire all weps on aft.

mainly i wanted that change due to clipping issues and the drain firing multiple weps can have on weps main power. and the fact that i dont see how mines can be classed as torps.

the last thing i was asking is for joysticks that use extra buttons and have yaw controls and throttle controls can have advanced options in space keybinding so that they can incorperate the whole controls from the joystick to the space controls keybind options.

edit, also on a side note, when games companys do support these products logitec norammly create a auto setup profile for the game that is supporting them so if sto did support logitec the profile would be there in the software and auto load when you launched sto.

just thought of a good example of what i mean, on my mouse i have 6 extra buttons, on the side where your thumb sits on the side of the mouse i have 2 buttons just above where my thumb sits, if the game saw these buttons in space i could assign the forward one to throttle on and the back one the throttle off. u see what i mean now ?
