Borg needs to be harder

hi,

i dont know if this has been talked about before, but i tought id bring it back to life

who thinks the borg need to be harder, i mean a single borg cube used to inspre fear in the next generation series and also "first contact" film, but we seem to be able to destroy an entire fleet of borg without to much problems, i know the game is based in the future but surly the borg have improved aswell i really want to see a borg cube and c**p myself thinking how do i get out of this one.

maybe look at making the borg cubes larger and having to destroy "parts" of the cube rather than the whole thing,

i love the game and the improvments in season two are great so im not complaning just wandered how meany people agreed with me?

    in space i can agree.

on the ground, well, all the borg do is stun you and knock you over so you can't really do anything.

i agree with that, but im talking about a single borg cube in the series and the film was all that was needed to get a fleet together and that fleet got destroyed (wolf 359 & sector 001) going into a "enemy contact signal" situation with 4+ cubes x amount of probes etc is Suicide!

but does it really need that amount of enemy's to fight or do we just need on incredibly hard contact that makes us work together as a fleet in the face of a enemy that we could not do by ourselves?

I say play on the hardest level, then return with a new reply. I find fighting Borg hard enough thank you very much. lol

So do I; damn cubes keep draining my shields (as do some drones) and I haven't been able to figure out how to combat that.

Are you out of your mind?

    1. Shield Neutralizer
    2. Root
    3. Assimilation
    4. Tractor Beam
    5. Borg away teams
    6. Interlink Nodes
    7. Humongo warp core breach

How much harder do you want them?

if you're looking for an "in game" reason why we can do better against the borg..

    liberated borg

we have a large amount of players and Boffs in-game who are former drones, as the only canon former drones have shown (picard, seven of nine) they retain some if not all of the information they had access to while assimilated.

this would give star fleet and the klingons the info they need to adapt their own weapons to methods and types the borg are weak against. what we're seeing in-game right now is the first wave of ships that have been fitted with these weapons, as the borg "threat" resurfaces in the tutorial so they've not had time to adapt to the changes just yet (or the former drones are keeping us one step ahead)

thats the way i look at it anyway..

Borg cubes are crazy anyway, freaking huge and will take you out easy when they explode.. not to mention the shield drain they hit you with..

And on elite difficulty their plasma torpedo is instant death...

I'd rather have smarter enemies than ones with larger health and hit harder, but as far as borg go they're fine. Cryptic needs to focus on other areas of the game in my opinion.

I guess I don’t mean harder, as such im just thinking abut the amount of cubes, probes etc as in game vs. series/film

Well for me doing the new missions against the Borg, it's not a walk in the park. lol Finally had to use real skill and just plan luck when doing those missions solo. And when your in the Cube, it pays not to touch everything you see flashing. WoW. lol

The Borg are fine, remember this is a game for players of all levels, which is why we have 3 difficulty settings, they have a few good tricks; They can make it near impossible to use any bridge officer skills by sending over a bunch of Borg to your ship, they can totally drop your shields for around 30 seconds or so, which stay down after the neutralizer goes, you then have to recharge them, they have a rather nasty Torpedo that can blow you away in 1, plus when taken down, can also blow you up when they explode. That said, Hazard Emitters is good here.

I can understand the desire to recreate the kind of desperate fight we saw at Wolf 359.

Perhaps a Borg "Queen Cube" could be made that is along the same power level as the crystalline entity? Lord knows that encounter is crazy tough.

Hazzard emitters, doesn't make much sense imho, but they remove the shield drain.
