So, I think I'm going to develop carpel tunnel, having to hold down both mouse buttons at the same time for an entire fight, lest I drift away from my target, so is there a way that I can have my starship automatically circle around my target? In addition to that, pressing the space bar and the 2 key isn't helping. Is there one button that I can press which activates the "fire all weapons" command, which means one button to fire phasers, disruptors, torpedoes, whatever happens to be in the firing arc of my target?
Also, how do I send messages to other players? >_>
EDIT: I prefer ground missions to space missions. Is there a way that I can easily tell which missions have a ground portion? Don't get me wrong, I'll do all the missions, but sometimes I'm just in the mood for a ground assault.
personally i move using wasd and keep my mouse for fire all and level shields, all that stuff can be changed in the controls options. There isn't a way to automatically circle an opponent but you can make it easier on yourself by changing the controls to something you're more used to. you can also right click the weapon icons at the bottom to turn them green so they'll continue to fire when you press fire once and they start flashing.
right clicking on someones name will bring up a menu with the option to send them a pm.
for ground missions generally the lions share of story missions are ground aswell as space, for exploration it depends on the mission type.
you can go into options, keybindings and select one button to fire all weps, the bummer is if you have mines you can clip the release of mines and as for some insane reason mines are classed as torps you can clip both.
when fighting in space you dont need to hold both mouse buttons down, you can stear with the w a s d keys and have throttle set to where you want, im messin about at the min to get a joystick to work but having little luck, i saw something in the notes about gamepads etc being workable with sto now so im gonna have a look into that.
for mesaging people, if your looking for a team then go into social and there will be a huge list of people all over the place, for your area go into the far right tab of social and it shows you eveyone in your zone, this works for fleets and spacial areas, to message them right click there name and select send message, when you recieve a message back to reply simple press backspace and it will fill in there name.
also if you start typing someones name in chat the filter will auto complete names close to what your writing so click the flip up that apears and thats another way to send a message.
as it stands though the only way to tell whats a ground or a space mission is be either looking up the quests asking in chat or knowing the fleet action your going into, the big dig is a big fleet ground action and most the STF ones are too.
