I though we got diplomacy xp for missions in line with FDC values. I would have thought defending a disabled ship from attackers would qualify along those lines. Did several in the B'Tran cluster and got no diplo xp. Intended or oversight?

"Gunboat diplomacy"?
I think the DXP is awarded for rhetorical and investigative skills. The "defend X" missions are still fighting missions.
My thought is it is a form of diplomacy. We are defending an alien race that should lead to good will and increased diplomatic relations. Thus it is a form of diplomacy.
Well, I read earlier today that ANY combat in a mission negated any DXP. So, I would say you don't get it if you have combat.
I know of one exception to that. The mission where you scan five derelict ships for evidence and report to the local government. Fighting hostile ships (which are technically optional in this case), does not negate the DXP you receive for the mission.
Shhh, do not tell Cryptic. It is already impossible to get some diplomatic points and now they will remove it from these missions as well. I did B'Tran twice, 6 missions, yesterday to get 10, yes TEN diplomatic points. It is a good joke form Cryptic side, yet I am not laughing.
