Ok is this only me finding this?

yea the lil addon is a gem for those who want to get additional items for crafting but dam the timer is really quick and when every i tap "once" the waveform goes to the other end of the scale so i can never get it to match..

DEVS please make this a little less sensitive and increase the timer slightly like 2-4 sec's extra.

"and yes my keyboard settings are not cranked up to stupid amounts, its default and i've slowed the repeat down... and still the same odd result"

You'll get used to it. After all, you did have plenty of opportunity to mess with it on Tribble.

Odd I'm using just a vanilla ancient ps2 keyboard and have no problems whatsoever with the scanner game using the arrow keys. The biggest problem I had was double tapping f because it was habit to scan/clear them....that took a little self control :)

I find it very, very easy with the keyboard, and very, very hard with the mouse.

I finish before the timer reaches half normally.

I've never tried it wit a keyboard, and with a mouse... it's pretty much a joke to finish. I have yet to have the timer get to the half way mark. If anything I think it's too easy.

you'll get used to it in time. You can usually finish it in about 2 seconds or less. Press up or down to match the height, then just spam left or right and your'e done...using the arrow keys makes it much easier.

The fact that I can already get it every single time shows it is not too hard.

Only occasionally miss with the mouse; have not tried with keyboard, but will.

I emphatically agree. Its almost TOO easy.

In other words, the only time I fail is when I want to, or when the fifth data sample in the mission is interfered with by the mission end popup.

The Arrow keys...............................Now why didn't I try that 1st. lol I was getting mad using the mouse, and failing to finish the pattern. Makes sence once you think about it, the arrow keys are much easier to use. lol

I have never even tried the Key Board to do the match, all I have ever used is my Mouse, and I average at least 70% solution or better. I don't think I have ever seen a resolution that was over 6 total clicks one way or the other. Normal solutions I have seen range from 3 to 6 clicks.

It's an easy game. They should reduce the timer by like 30-40%. It's too easy.

This is actually something we saw on Tribble when players first got a hold of this mini game. The initial feedback was, "WTH? This is stupid hard! Why are you trying to kill us! Change it! Change it! Change it!"

Within a couple of days, we had some of those same people, who are now posting here saying it's very easy, saying, "Never mind, you apparently get used to it pretty quick! Please don't change it."

So, my advice to those playing this mini-game for the first time right now, and are having difficulties is this:

Please keep playing. It seems much harder than it really is at first, and you'll be a pro soon in no time flat.

    Thanks,

    Stormshade

Same here. I hated this minigame when using the mouse. It's totally easy with the arrow keys.

The only problem I see is in the "scan 5 anomalies" exploration missions.

When you scan the last anomaly, you get 2 pop-up windows: one for the scan and one for the BO saying
"stay and explore or leave system." The focus is on the BO window; so, doing the scan requires that
you get rid of the BO window.

    Very annoying.

They should make it a little bit more involved I think, at least in certain situations and/or higher difficulties. Another variable like the smoothness of the curve, or something to that effect.

Same here... I would, however, suggest a tutorial for players that explains the arrow keys and gives you some time to get used to the controls. It took me a bit to get used to it and after that I can hit it everytime, even those at the end of the scan 5 anomaly missions ;)

yeah, once you realise they are there you get ready for them and it becomes very very easy to do, especially if you sort the height first.

I just had that exact thing happen to me, this could be easily prevented by making the BO reply to leave the system AFTER the mini-game has finished.

I too was one of those people who were like WTF why is this so hard then i tried it with the keyboard, I love the game now and it adds just an extra bit of depth and trekkiness

Well once we get use to how this mini-games plays out, I am all for adding new twist and turns to the higher end stuff we find.

Leave this mini game the way it is but there is a pop-up in star clusters where you have to scan 5/5 anomalies. On the last one the BO dialog pops up which takes focus off of the mini game. It causes me to loose the last one every time. Grrrr

This has been noted in the known issues for the release as I recall.

odd I have trembles in my fingers sometimes that messes with me using the arrow keys so sometimes I can make the timer and sometimes I can't but i think if the timer was increased that would increase my chances but that's okay because its my fault my fingers and hand trembles because its my fault I'm sick.
