Who's sticking with the first Tier 5 ships?

With the Retrofits and C-Store ships coming I fear that even though they're theoretically balanced we'll see almost nothing but those ships!

I think I will stick with my Star Cruiser since I paid for it and they just revamped the model for Season 2.

I think when i get my Tactical up to that level (will take forever) i will surely use the new Defiant over that non canon Escorts.

my Engineer had a Custom Sovereign Variant and is just playing arround with the Galaxy-X but i think i will switch back to my customised Sovy next time until i have enough marks for another set of Purple items because that Gal-X goes BOOM FAST (i got mine free btw.).
So... i will surely try the other Galaxy Class but then i will have 3 ships to max out... Problem is that i want Tetryon for my Sovereign and Phasers for the Galaxy because everything else just looks wrong.... and i cant respec everytime i change Ships.
I allready started a new Char that will aim for maxing out the Galaxy X capabilities.

The new Voyager actually makes me want to level my SCI out of the Miranda state, i'm kind of struggling with my Sci because i see no abilities that i want... but that ship... nice!

Wow i just realised that Season 2 gave me a LOT to do ^^
I still have to check out what the new Endgame will be like with the Fleetactions and so on.

I have been debating this since Tribble.

Ultimately the Galaxy Class Refit will put out less DPS because it has one less tactical console slot. Now I also lose my ensign tactical officer, but thats ok, he's worthless right now anyway.

    And....

I LOVE the Galaxy Class. So I think I'm gunna switch actually. The plan is to respec once I hit VA1 to put all the skill points I put in assault cruiser into exploration cruise retrofit.

    Twas a tough choice though.

I'll stay in my old ships (both cruiser and escort), mostly because I think both galaxy and defiant are ugly *hides*. The new Intrepid though...

    UGLY!?!?!?

The Galaxy Class is as beautiful as a P-51 and you call it UGLY?!?!?

    Agreed on the Defiant though.

The Intrepid's goofier looking than the Galaxy.

I am, because as a Klingon i don't want the bad bad eng carrier. Although it does look quite nice.

You better hide well, my friend. Remember when you run from my beatiful Galaxy that my Defiant could be waiting in cloak on the other side.

    :)

I am not sure yet. I love the Galaxy, but the Star Cruiser served me well, and I like the Sovereign, too.
I love the Defiant, even though I didn't want Cloak. I think the Intrepid is pretty much a given for me, though. My current build has little use for tactical consoles and weapon slots with its 25 Weapon Power...

I plan to stick to my Sovereign with my TAC and to my customized Dervish with my SCI officer. I may try the new Galaxy, but going from Sovereign to Galaxy still seems like a downgrade to me...

But I will definitely try the Excelsior, my favorite ship design in Star Trek.

I will most likely switch from my Fleet escort to the Nebula. But i have no interest in the refits.

Im actually a big fan of the looks of the defiant. As much as I enjoy Star Trek I never quite understood the reason for the ship design with the huge saucer sections connected to a drive section by a small little neck. Just doesnt seem efficient to me. I mean the bridge is in the saucer section and main engineering is in the drive section. Now say that the tubolifts go out and you have to hoof it to egineering to fix something... thats a long and complex route to follow to get there. With the defiant its just a straight walk back... maybe down a level or 2. I dunno... maybe its just my thinking.

Plus I have always been a fan of small ships with alot of firepower and high manuverability.

Honestly as a huge fan of the Defiant, i know my Tac RA will be going for the retrofit.. i used to fly my dailies in the T4 Defiant anyway!

my engineer RA however.. i enjoy the galaxy X for its fun factor but prefer the sovereign when getting serious so really not sure i'll be using the saucer seperation galaxy on that one.. (and in the spirit of speaking out against designs we dont like... the galaxy still seems top heavy and un-balanced without the "X" additions of the third nacelle...)

I'm leveling a sci now, so cant comment on the RA sci ships yet, but the plan is to have all three ships across the three characters anyway!

For my Fed I'll stick with the Assault Cruiser but for my Klingons I'll be waiting for the Vor'cha retrofit to become available.

I'm gonna stay with my Assualt Crusier, more use to using it during PVP, might use the new Galaxy-R for just having fun on PVE/messing around and maybe see where I can work it in somewhere, maybe replace my T4 Galaxy with it. Never been keen on Sci/Tac ships due to how I play so not gonna think about the other 2.

On another note I would like to get the Excelisor when its avilable, also just for PVE/messing around too heh

The Galaxy is quite fugly, and you couldn't get me to fly one even for $1 million USD.

Really, I want to stay in my Prometheus class escort, but since I get the same hull hitpoints, faster turning, AND cloak with the Defiant refit, I feel forced to "upgrade" to it. Give my Prometheus a cloaking device, and I'll never fly a Defiant again.

I will use my defaint more once they sort out the BO issues.

the ensign slots for all of the tier 5 ***** is stupid. But then they aren't thinking about BO in the smae way a lot of players seem too, as your head of enginnering, Cheif science officer, CMO, Tactical officer etc.

My trusty Nomad just got an overhaul with redesigned impulse engines, and many corrections to the hull. The new version is great and I am keeping it.

I have to admit, however, that I am definatly looking at the Excelsior. But it somehow comes down to the stats, if they are decent enough for my playstyle, I might ditch the Nomad. From what I've seen so far, there are several people who are carefully comparing the Refit ships to the new ones.
It almost looks like Cryptics plan works: making the new ships interesting alternatives, with new exciting powers, but everything comes with a slight trade-off so that not too many people blindly switch over to the new stuff.

About the Ensign slots by the way:
I think there was a developer post a couple of weeks back stating Cryptic is working on a bunch of new Ensign powers, which might make these slots much more interesting.

Get yourself MES. MES 2 is not quite as good as cloak, but it's enough for PvE defnitely, and even in PvP you will be able to surprise a few. (And unlike cloak, you get to keep your shields!)

When I hit VA, I'll pick up the Galaxy refit to play with, but I doubt it'll replace my Star Cruiser as my main ship. I just love the Nomad class (especially with its updated season 2 look - nice work devs).

Now a tier-5 Excelsior. That might be a different story.

    Stole my thunder!

I tried the Galaxy-R on Tribble, played one PvP match and headed straight back to DS9 to respecc back to the Nomad. Couldn't live with the turn on it.

I'm interested to play the Intrepid refit though, I hardly play my science toon, and am hoping that the new ship will give him a new lease of life.

While I like the design of the Intrepid, and am a big fan of the Defiant, I will be sticking with my Sovereign-class vessel on my Tac main (my other tac might be escort-speced). I tried out the Defiant refit on tribble a bunch, and just couldn't get used to the different style of the ship (yes, I did respec for escort/cannons/etc.). While I played the Defiant at Captain, I have been at RA far longer than I was at Captain, and have gotten used to the assault cruiser.

It's not a rejection of the new ships, but a matter of playing style. I have honed my BOFFs, Skill Points, and most importantly, playing abilities to a hybrid style (not as good a tank as an engineer, but good enough, with a higher DPS). I also have the Sovereign-class starship near the top of my favorite starship list (the movie Constitution being the only one ahead of it).

I'm gonna keep my Galaxy-X. I might get the Defiant though for PvP stuff, but I will break the ship naming scheme with it and give it a different name.
