Draft Tuvok - The Tim Russ/Cryptic Campaign

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Jumping off of the success that Kirkfat had with the Draft Leeta campaign, doesn't that hologram look great in Quarks :D, it's time to go and ask, beg, and basically plead with Cryptic to get another Star Trek Actor in game. So who better than Tim Russ, the ever logical actor behind Janway's favorite Vulcan Tuvok.

The good thing is, thanks to the efforts by shikamaru317 we already know that Mr. Russ is interested and more than willing to do the VO work, as seen here. So we have half of the battle right there.

Link to his homepage.

Now we just need to convince Cryptic to add him into the game. A tough challenge to be sure but one that this community has risen to achieve once before.

So let's start brainstorming ideas as to what Tim Russ could do in the game and start showing support by posting those ideas, or by simply saying that your support getting him in game, here. Let's get to it people.

In the books Tuvok was Riker's tactical officer aboard the Titan. I don't remember what he's doing in the STO novel. He could be the captain of the Titan by now. :)

I would love to have him do something. I know he played a klingon in TNG as well. It would be awesome to get Tim Russ to do some VO's

I think he is a retired Captain. It´s in the Path to 2409. :)

Nice that Tim Russ is interested, what would you have him voice though? With Masterson, I think it helped that her being the voice for the Dabo mini game was such a perfect fit.

Tuvok would be cool, he's not in the game though is he? For a Klingon voice, if they ever change it so you could play from the start as one and did a separate tutorial for them, that would be a nice place for him to voice.

he's still alive during this time. I do believe he was mentioned in the path to 2409

    Yeah I saw that :)

Edited to add: Seeming he's retired, working him into a diplomacy mission might be a nice touch.

With all due respect, I'm kinda hoping for Frakes/Sirtis. They have VO credentials and Frakes is the one guy to appear on TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise. He's a big supporter of the franchise. He's done audio books, video games, etc. They like working together, have a good rapport, and I think a Troi/Riker episode could be epic and compelling without feeling like a pure TNG throwback.

Worf would be nice in that I think he'd provide both factions with content.

And Tony Todd would amazing because he could reprise his roles both as Jake Sisko and Kurn.

Indeed, as much as I would like to see Stewart, Franks, Sirtis, or anyone from the TNG cast, my favorite Star Trek Series, I haven't been able to find their contact information. Though for Franks I suppose I could go his wife's store in Maine and ask her if I could talk to her husband. lol

Seriously though we know that Russ is more than willing to work with Cryptic and record a few lines into the game. So why not try to get him in game. If we focus on one actor and character at a time, the better the odds at getting them in I say.

You know, we could have Tuvok narrate the new sector blocks as they are added in. Since it seems to be a staple of the game to have a Vulcan be the narrator, thank you spock, in addition to adding the Vulcan to a mission or 3. So what do you guys think of that. Anyother ideas?

You know, thanks to what J-Sheridan posted in the Draft leeta thread, thank you Sheridan, we could always have Tuvok provide opening narration to each of the episodes, in addition to appearing as several characters.

Tim Russ is an amazing person and I would really love to have him ingame. I don't know how many people played the Elite Force games, but Tuvok was the squad leader of this spec ops team designed to take down the Borg and the Undine, and every other galactic nasty in the Delta Quadrant. I would love to have him come out of retirement and take over the STF missions, giving voice overs for them, leading briefings on enemy types, and so on. There are many ways to incorporate a strategic character like Tuvok into our missions, and having him narrate new sector blocks would be excellent as well.

Yeah, he was really good in Elite Force, while the rest of the cast seemed a little bored. His VOs were high quality, especially when he reprimanded us for stuff.

Afterall it would seem that narration of the sector blocks is something that only a Vulcan can do. :)

I remember getting in trouble several times for not leaving the bridge when I was told to, and also for going mental and shooting everyone. I would always get beamed to the Brig, and then have Tuvok tell me I'm a jerk.

I fully support this Campaign thread, but what we really need to do is think of as many different ways of getting the character Tuvok into STO and then post our ideas. I believe it's important to come up with a good reason for why Tuvok is going to be in STO and we need to think of what type of situation the players will encounter Tuvok in, will it be a one off encounter?

Preferably not, as this would reduce the chances of the VO work becoming a reality in my opinion. Chase Masterson's VO work went to Holo Leeta who talks to the players while they play Dabo, which is something that can be revisted time and again.

I will look into this myself and post any ideas I come up with, but I employ all those who are willing, to research as much info as possible, try to find out exactly what the character Tuvok would be doing in the time that STO is based in right now, find out what he's been doing and how he got there. Then maybe, just maybe with our combined efforts, we can help Cryptic come up with a brilliant idea for Tuvoks character, location as well as purpose within STO.

I agree. This is a harder sell to Cryptic unless we can come up with a way that makes Russ's inclusion seem natural. He is a Vulcan though, and he's still around at the time of STO. From what I've learned, he is currently first officer on the Titan in the STO timeline.

I could have sworn I read in one of the loading screens that Tuvok became head of Starfleet security, or is instructing on Earth. It would be a great reason to visit Earth. Maybe he would have training exercises we could complete for accolades to keep our skills sharp?

Tim Russ is a great guy and really puts his all into his work. I really hope we can get him in STO.

As for what Tuvok could do in STO, there are many possibilities:

    1) Be involved with Janeway and Chakotay in countering the Undine as part of an independent operation (Janeway taking full responsiblity). And Tuvok is acting as the mission giver.

    2) Tuvok could be on Vulcan giving out missions that reflect on the history of the Federation where players could learn more about the planet and more.

    3) Be part of a Delta Quadrant expansion.

    And much more.

Lets not forget Tim Russ makes a great Klingon which he has done on screen.
He could do VO for both Starfleet/KDF.
    Twice the value!

I say getting the Enterprise E and Brent Spiner in (with likeness rights) is most important. Star Trek aint Star Trek without the Enterprise. A whole series of episodes could revolve around its dissapearance. And then star jellies could pop up in the series too.
