Are they random in the clusters or something?

Yes... many pre-existing star cluster missions now grant diplomatic experience if the mission ideals are in line with the Fed Diplo corps

There is an endless supply of these in star clusters and you do not need to be an Attache yet to randomly find them.

Contact Ambassador Sugihara. He will send you (most likely) to a low-level nebula for your first mission. After that, continue to contact him and visit star clusters. Any mission where you don't fire a shot counts as FDC experience.

Also, visit Bajor for an excellent FDC mission.

So can you randomly get a diplo mission while doing star clusters, or does it have to be taken through ambassador so and so?

I'm trying it on my Admiral. Am I screwed when it comes to older mission? XP

I can't seem to get clusters working right now without crashing.

I think what you're trying to say, is that Cluster Exploration missions that involve scanning and aiding planets now yield diplomatic XP as well as their normal rewards... is that correct?

Yes, that's how it worked on Tribble - the 'scan 5 ground objects' and 'Aid the Planet' missions now gve DXP.

One of the GMs in the TTS channel said that Dstahl would be commenting on this. It was also stated that this is not bugged, and that their plan here had "evolved." When pressed further he said he didn't want to elaborate to prevent the spread of misinformation, and then he went to lunch.

Plus I went to the guy in SB1 and he only had info about diplomacy for me, no actual mission options.

So yeah, pretty much just do non-combat mission types and level up to get to the missions.

Ah. I dislike those lifeless mission-types even more now, because before Season 2.0, I could safely ignore them as they didn't offer me anything I couldn't get elsewhere, overlooking those gift-boxes of course.

Now however, I'm assuming that once I'm done with the actual scripted FDC missions — those that are offered on Vulcan, Bajor, etc — I'll have to grind silly lifeless 'scan and Aid' missions for diplomatic XP so I could enjoy the diplomatic perks. :(

I mean, really... I know many people think diplomacy is boring but this may be getting out of hand

Is there some prerequisite needed to be able to hail him? I don't see him on the list and even though I completed the Lieutenant-level mission that granted me Attache automatically on Tribble, I'm not getting it.

I am not getting any missions in the comm list either. What are you supposed to do to get that appear or does it at all?

Okay I got 160 and ranked up however I played too much. Getting the max rank would be ridiculous if you're already a freakin' Admiral. It should have been at least partially retroactive.

When you reach Attache, it unlocks Diplomatic Investigation which seems to be available every hour or two. Certainly a whole lot easier than getting the 80 points to get there after doing the other diplomatic missions.
