Playing SWG in the past, I had capital ships you could walk around in real time, and I could store tons of items within its hull. I personally would like to see ship Interiors able to store items within the hull. Right now there is very little storage space even on RA5's and players are having to mail items to other players designed as mules. So has this been brought up and or who would support such an idea?
Well, the storage that we have right now IS supposed to be our ship interior storage, so it doesen't make much sense to add more storage that can only be accessed via your ship interior. What would be a better solution might be to let each ship that you are not using also have a functional cargo bay.
I've seen this brought up in the past and i believe the reason given was that it wasn't available due to the extra room needed for the storage of Bridge officers, their uniforms, and such. Although it's been awhile so I could be off there.
that said, I fully support this.
Even if we just get some way to access our bank from the ship. I mean right now you have a Fleet Bank and your normal bank both from a starbase. I could easily see accessing your personal bank from your ship, aka ship storage. and leaving the fleet bank in the SB's..... Hrm I guess that would cause issues moving items back and forth between the two that would have to be sorted....
way i see it, you can have three levels of storage..
first level - inventory - always accessable, where your collected "drops" go into etc etc.. size is ok as the inventory is now..
second level - cargo bay - accessable in any location while not in combat, basically your "bank" as it is now, size as bank is now, increasing with level etc. (not in combat so to avoid confusion, with the "in-universe" explination being you're having it beamed to your personal inventory but that cant be done through personal shielding like with ships)
third level - deep storage - accessable only at starbases etc - fixed size, with EC/Merit purchasable tabs. for storing things like collectables, items you'd like to keep.. (fire extinguisher springs to mind here) but that you're not likely to use often or a lot. could be used to collate data samples, commodities and so on.
so things start off in your personal inventory, and you can then sort them into the cargo bay if you're not likely to use them right away or want to hold on to them but wont need them immediately(upgrades if you expect to level up a rank during a mission for example) or are putting them aside till the next time you hit the starbases.
least, thats how i'd organise it.. i'm a bit of a packrat and tend to collect tons of stuff.. not sure everyone else is though!
