If you are referring to UI mods or other type things - it has been considered but nothing definite on the plans. At one point there was a related discussion about the audio player as well.

What would you like to see available as an add-on?

I need a fourth (or more) row for my buffs :) especially with the new powers we got with VA1 and the diplomatic corps...

I know it's not quite a UI addon, but I'd like an easier way to toggle on/off armor and kit appearance. Also some kind of hotkey bind for uniforms. It's kind of clunky as is right now.

I,too, would like another row (or at least add 2 more to each of our 3 rows) for the space power bar.

I think that may be the thing I'd most like to see in terms of add-ons: The ability to make a customized hot-bar display/overlay. I'd very much like to be able to extend the rows out to 12 slots each, and to have more than 2 bars open with the BO-specific bar and the weapon box still there. Being able to load/save various configurations would be nice too. When I fly a ship that only has 3 weapon mounts in either fore/aft and then switch to one with 4, suddenly the weapons box widens for the extra weapon slot, but the rest of the UI doesn't adjust, meaning the UI elements generally start overlapping. At least if you could save and load specific configs, perhaps even designate a specific config to auto-load for each ship you have . . . this is the sort of thing I'd love to see.

While not an add-on, per se, I'd love to be able to reskin the UI like we did in EverQuest way back when. We have buttons all over the place? I'd love to reskin them to look like an LCARS touchscreen.

Even if we don't get the ability to use player-created UI mods...

It's pretty clear that a lot of people really want more power slots and power trays.

City of Heroes got round this by letting players spawn additional displayed power trays - which could then be reshaped around the screen - horizontal, vertical, L-shaped, etc.

Something like that would satisfy the demand.

all excellent feedback points - would really like to know what other small UI features you'd like to see ... I personally think the whole remote contact window needs to be redone.

This is a must. I'm only at commander, and i'm sick of scrolling through them all to try and find new missions. And with more coming in each season, its gonna get even harder. I would also really like an option to hide PvP/information only related contacts.

    I hope not.

User made add-ons open up the possibilities for so many trojans and account hacking and if You dont want to use them because of security then You are at a disadvantage in-game instead. No good choices to make.

Anything released should be made and supported by Cryptic/Atari so someone can be held responsible fopr any security holes.

I´d like to see the ability to turn the BO power tray upside down, at admiral levels it always gets in the way of the power box, sometimes resulting in delays when trying to click a power.

The only addon or functionality that has spoiled me from WoW in any other MMO I've played is Auctioneer. I would like to "play" the auction houses in these games, but learning the peculiarities can be incredibly time consuming, so a system that aggregates the items available and makes pricing suggestions not only makes it easier for players to get into the feature, but also helps to even out prices over time. With little to no comparison for people, you get a lot of folks who ask for ridiculous amounts for minor items.

Here's something I brought up in another thread but as it relates to this question, i thought i'd share here too..
    Shingi wrote:
if you ask me, i think the tricorder scan should work something like this..

basic scan for anomolies - marker on the minimap and directional sign (like current) - can be used at any time

in-depth scan - brings up a transparent map overlay on the screen (like the UI is transparent now) showing points of interest such as interactables, anomolies, enemy positions etc.. basically a mid-point between the mini-map and the main map that doesnt interfere as much and provides more info - cannot be used during combat, scan will end if combat started.

interactive scan - links ship sensors and crew tricoders, brings up main map but shows distances to objects, can be used to plot paths to objects and can also be used to place Boffs using rally points (for setting up cross fires, ambush points etc) - cannot be used while moving or in combat.

give the large map screens an outer box that resembles a tricorder and i think that'd cover most things.. the system can be adapted for space as well, using waypoints for anomolies that can be auto-followed and tracked etc.. a shared map between team members can be used to bring in multi-vector attacks and highlight specific targets as well..

most of the tech to do this should be in-game already, just needs a little re-purposing.

Yeah, the current contact window is a headache for me. What if we just break the contacts up into the types of missions they give? Just like we do for organizing the current mission journal. Exploration/Diplomacy contacts, PVP mission contacts, Storyline contacts, Fleet Action/STF contacts. That division would help me out a lot.

Also I think I would like the option to change the opacity and have color sliders for the user interface borders like we have in City of Heroes. I really just don't care for the interface styling. It just feels too generic is all.
Maybe if we just encased the interface with a black gloss with a subtle glare that blinks across it occasionally. Kinda like the protective covers for all the LCARS consoles.

As stated earlier already, what I would really like to see added to the UI is the additional power tray displayed (display a third/fourth row). All that time, I don't want my BOff specific bar to disappear, as I use that to reference which powers they have and how to combine them.

Also, it would be cool if we could manipulate the order in which the BOffs are displayed in this power tray display, so that abilities that can be chained can also be placed directly adjacent to each other. Say I want to have a chain ready when going into combat: BO2, HYT3, CRF3, JS1... I would like to place that Lt Science BOff directly adjacent to the Cmdr Tactical BOff, so that it's readily available to click, should my left hand be tied up with putting the ship in position.

Other than that, I also like Shingi's suggestion!

    Some suggestions about the UI:
    • A fourth or fifth row of space powers
    • Chatwindow 1: It would be cool if we are able to color several special characters/players, especially for the roleplayers, it is really difficult to separate your guys from the crowd round the dabo table :)
    • Chatwindow 2: There is a bug, concerning subscribing the channels, sometimes I have to mark the checkbox to subscribe and sometimes I have to mark to unsubscribe
    • Editable Emote-window, you can make a choice of ten emotes, I know that you can bind keys for that...
    • Resizabilty of the Missions-window
    • I've already opened a ticket about that, when you mark the new (on tribble) upper progress bar, it looks a little bit strange
    • Additional designpatters (other colors, more lcars,...), would be a nice to have
    • Already mentioned, rework the contactwindow.

I think the user-made content have to come out of this forum or from the ugc-engine, not more.

With no cost to use the exchange and a one week timer, even with a twenty item limit an addon that would automate some of the functions of the auction house would have detrimental effects on the already inflated game economy.

    This. So much, this.

Filters to show PvE, PvP, Exploration, Patrol, Dailies, the new weekly episodes, and other such missions would go a long way to helping te functionality of this window. The more we get -- which I so won't complain about, since more content is AWESOME -- the more cluttered and random this window seems.

    This would be very useful.
I think a tabbed version would work here with tabs showing:
    "Incoming Orders" - Missions
"Information" - No missions to grant at the moment
"Fleet" - Fleet info / news updated by Fleet Officers with appropriate permissions (would be great to have the avatar of the Fleet Officer shown here).

The "Fleet" tab could be used to create Fleet events, which you would then receive just like a normal mission...

Some times I like to fly with all cannons and other times I like to fly all beams and yet other times I like to fly a combo of both in my escort. I would like the ability to load each set with defined BO's and skills so that I don't have to go thru and change BO's and skills for each setup.

I would love to be able to load each by user defined name or number.

    ( I currently use the 3 row tray setup #3 )

Make is so, Captain ! :)

I'd like to see things done in more of an LCARS fashion. More yellow and less blue. Expanding menus that display various options. Names instead of icons with an actual button to push.

For example Have a button at the bottom labeled Battery. When you push it a screen expands up complete with the LCARS framing on the left side and around to the top. The Top would still be labeled Battery but then you have the options dependent on what batteries you have equipped. For example if I'm in my Constitution and I have 20 of each battery slotted then 4 options would pop up. They would say Shields, Auxilary, Engines, Weapons. Then have a numeral saying how many charges I have left. After I click the option I want it would descend down and the cooldown timer for the entire tray would be displayed on the minimized menu.

Do that for the different operations on the ship. Then let us "custimize{" the layout. Give us several windows that can be opened up like that which are user defined. WE can also define weather that window stays open or not. LCARS was supposed to allow for that kind of user customization anyway.

    oh god does it

all the ui needs to be resize able and dialog boxes needs to be on the side with pict above text so it takes up about 2 inches along side of screen not whole middle

    edit: got more

accolade tracker ui, to make it easier to track kills, etc

in game forum ui, so we can do dev tracker in game

smaller friends ui, easier searching thru friends list for who's on same for fleets

bank permissions ui to set bank permissions w/o going to a bank

multiple chats for keeping diff chats separate and kill some of the mt's

magnifier for ships so you tell what direction your defiant is flying when zoomed all the way out

What would be totally cool, but will never happen, a small window into your bridge as you flight... you on the capt chair, bo's at consoles, the view shakes as you take hits. can't play from the bridge, simulate it as we do battles. a small ui, the size of the mini map looking into the bridge from the other side of the main viewer.

Is this a go-ahead to start using texture overrides (so long as not cheating)?

A few players have figured out the structure of STO's hoggs and realized how to swap textures.

One thing I think STO could benefit from is something similar what City of Heroes has where you can split up and move around the power trays. To be able to have 3 or more trays showing while still having the bridge office bar would be great too.

When the EP says this and so many players agree, is there a reason NOT to get it done?

You're the guy in charge so unless the player base say don't fool with it, geterdone. And how soon? Yesterday wasn't even soon enough.

    Change the Hailing remote contacts.

    System seems to in place to do the following with a few changes;

Let us hail our friends off our friends list. Let their picture appear to the person hailing once they answer the hail. Sure would be nice not to miss those important messages from your friends. Would also add a tremendous amount of Star Trek feel.

A: I have never used the in game audio player in champs or sto. If i want to listen to music i open itunes, turn a playlist on and the minimize it since the audio players require it to be open anyway...

An independent audio player in the system that played itunes music w/oitunes taking up resources would be much better though still a waste of resources relatively speaking.

I'd like to see more use of the lcars styling in dialog and contact interaction and less rounded generic text, this includes popups in space/ground.

Also the ability to alter color of the ui or even add more then one color would be nice, you have this in coh but not the two newer mmos you made...

More of an lcars styling to the basic ui or just an alternate skin that offers this would be nice. A klink themed one would be nice as well though i would be fine if thiat had little to no customization.

Also a little more tray customization and the ability to maybe add more to the end ( by my guess i could easily fit 4 more powers on my screen to the right of the power tray that currently exists.

A branching lcars selection system that has the built in ability to go back instead of having to exit and reopen dialog boxes as this drives me insane since thats how most dialog boxes are currently...

Remote contacts needs a total overhaul and reorganization, I' like the division into mission types mentioned above.

More power tray space is also a very good idea.

One nice QoL improvement would be distinct icons for each of the powers in a series. Torpedo High Yield 1, 2 and 3 all have identical icons. This makes it difficult to tell which one is which. All of the power icons have a little detail (dot, square, triangle, etc.) in the lower right corner. Would it be possible to have the number of dots (or whatever) match the rank of the power?
